Just add like 5 new dances or other emotes to the cash shop each month for $7.99 each.
Do FOMO cash shop rotations on them, re-introduce 1 old statue emote for $21 each year for a single month.

I agree that they should add the in-game rewards that were tied to purchasing or pre-order certain pieces of merchandise. Beyond that there's no need to milk the cash store with FOMO item rotations. If anything, lower prices across the board but implement the cash store directly into the game client so people can purchase directly from the game. That would also allow users on PlayStation, Steam, and Xbox to use their store credit to buy XIV cosmetics.
I think if they made stuff like body tattoos or vfx packs for jobs in the cash shop they would make bank. obviously I'd rather them just add these in the game normally though, but I'm just saying. Honestly they could really just go browse the popular mods people use and make those as cash shop items lol I'm surprised they don't do this already since they know people use mods.
Yeah let's milk the cash shop harder in a game where people pay for expansions onto of monthly sub fees ND retainer fees yeah!
Cash shop idea: Job Stance changes. EI, take Dark Knight for example What if the weapon drawn was the default male over the shoulder idle pose instead of the awkward angle they hold the sword at right now?
Stuff like that. I'd pay for it.
You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
If they just made every current item account-wide (and for limited use items, gave them a cooldown instead of being finite), people would likely buy more because for a lot of folks, they don't see the value in buying something for only one character or the risk of losing something that could only be used a certain number of times/be lost if removed from housing.
Even fantasias would probably sell more if they repackaged it as something you could use once every 30 days once you've bought the special vial, same with job and story skips.
Wait, how would this make the cash shop better for players again?
The only real way would be account bound everything including past bought items and lower all prices by a flat 30% off so more ppl can buy more items for better value. Also, I'm already annoyed at the limited time collab for Fantasian so I don't see how increasing FOMO by adding it all the time with rotating items would be an improvement unless trolling players.
Finally, in my dreams, SE would bring back the old statue emotes for $7, like other ppl have had them for years now, along with a physical statue for a bonus too.
They could make plenty of money by throwing the majority of things in store anyway, for example;
Add more reskins of modern clothing or whatever egirls/boys are currently wearing.
Add a Neon Hair Dye palette expansion that adds another section of available colours to use at the aesthetician, can probably do the same with eye colours and so on.
Edgy face paint/tattoos.
Maybe some 'rare' vanity rotating wardrobe collection that is triple the price of a regular outfit too.
Vanity fashion accessories, idle/resting emotes, the list goes on...
I am certain a majority of FF players out there would empty all the remaining balance in their bank account if those kinds of things were offered in the cash shop.
I'll be in the category of proving you right. Because I would actually buy more from the cash shop if it was all account bound, yep. At the moment, I'm sleeping on virtually all cash shop items aside from mounts and don't plan on ever getting anything again because they're not shared on alts (and none of the mounts have been of interest). But if everything was shared, I would treat myself here or there every so often to some goodies, yeah.
(Your 'special vial' idea is brilliant, man I wish that was a thing...)
Also the housing limit thing is a great point, I feel like the limited thing and the idea that it could be lost is a huge deterrent.
Anyway - yeah, no, expanding the shop and all of the ideas in OP's thread aren't going to help and would make things worse, I don't support it one bit.
no.
all they need to do is add cashshop items like ESO that change the special effects of abilities.
also, giving the shadowbringer a purple glow like the ShB intro would bring all the DRK players back
FFXIV is already saving SE, if I recall correctly it's the only actually profitable project at the company.
Maybe instead of piling more income flow on our shoulders, they could... hire people who aren't stupid? To make games that don't explode on the runway?
Admittedly, my idea is to just make existing cash shop items feel like a greater value rather than adding anything else, since ideally we would get more stuff by earning it in-game...
But if they're going to INSIST on adding things to it, they need to stop making people feel like they're being ripped off if they buy certain things. Paywalling job and story skips isn't great, but if you told people it was a one-time purchase and EVERY new character they made could start with any job ready to go for the last 10 levels of a current expansion while jumping straight to said latest expansion? That's going to open some wallets.
Oops - I came across as liking the cash shop more than I wanted to in my post XD I'm not for it, though used to treat myself every so often a while ago. But yes, this is if they INSIST on adding things to it.
I wish they had a WoW-token-esque system. But with how gil is in FFXIV I highly doubt that'd ever happen... A way to earn currency for the shop in game would be great though. I wish. Or, adding stuff in the shop to the game as maybe limited time events (like the trading post for WoW perhaps...? Woudl get people to resub).
(Apologies for only using WoW as an example, it's where I came from many years ago and while I'd never return, there's things in that game that would be great to see in XIV.)
Oh no, the WoW example is valid, albeit I don't think I was playing anymore when it was a thing so I wasn't there for pros and cons of the system.
I'm reminded rather of how SWTOR does things where they have a premium currency (cartel coins) where you can spend a little to acquire cosmetics and then pay more to make them "legacy" wide (which basically means all characters on that server can access and use them), they also do similar with feature unlocks, including obtaining a chest that anyone on your legacy can dip into and take things out, including money.
Mind you, SWTOR is free-to-play with an optional subscription, but said subscription pays out a stipend of cartel coins every month to where one could theoretically unlock the most vital features and gradually make their favorite cosmetics available to every character on that server, I think they even started doing it with stuff you earned in-game. Similarly, even if you stop subbing, you can still play your characters but without access to sub-only features, and even SWTOR's security key gives you a 100 cartel coins every month its attached.
Imagine being on the free trial, paying a couple of months to get enough crysta to unlock retainer access, dropping participation during slow months but still able to log in to check on stuff/just say high, and the security key did more than give you another teleport.
Not to say Square-Enix should copy every little thing SWTOR does, but if they're going to nickel and dime us, they're doing it all wrong and I honestly wonder if the cash shop has been as successful as we all meme about because their way of doing things discourages a lot of potential buyers. Or how if "account-wide" is too much for them to do with every item, "data center-wide" or even "world-wide" would be the next best options.
If you told me I could give Yoshi-P $5 and he would let me have infinite fantasia on any one world of my choice, they just made an easy $5.
