I think you should just go play World of Warcraft. They have that aesthetic, it doesn't really fit here.

Click on the square icon with a little tree, then paste your image's URL in the popup window. It's to the right of the hyperlink icon (planet with a little chain under it)

Fierce Tyrant, False Monarchy and Archfiend are pretty much what you want. DRK and DRG AFs have some pretty good sets, too. If you're looking for some good ARR crunchy textures, the Halone set from PvP has a very similar silhouette. Eureka's fending set is cool and glows. Chaotic's fending/maiming set is somewhat similar to the leftmost one and has a subtle glow. Keep an eye out for variants of the Feast rewards coming back such as Shadowcleaver's set. It should be added to the PvP merchant in the next couple of patches or so.

I recommend you check out sites like Eorzea Collection because they have a neat database of most if not all glamour pieces and also a section for community glams you can draw inspiration from.
The sets you're looking for do exist, you just may have not found them yet! I don't know all the glams off the top of my head so I'm sure there's more out there.


Edit: For the angelic example in the middle, you can get angel and demon wings back accessories. For the halo, there's an "Angelic" set sold in the store. The hat is a forehead chain with a golden halo on top (the halo cannot be dyed, but the chain has double dye enabled)

yeah and they look amazing! The gear has been horrible latly in ff14

We do have sets like that, for example the False Monarchy set or the Fierce Tyrant set.

A lot of the armor like that is PvP gear. That's how they tend to style PvP gear generally.

However, we have had tank and melee DPS sets like that occasionally, but they go really heavy with it for PvP.

Check out the Abyssos gear sets. They strike me as pretty WoW inspired with the flaming shoulders for melees and the halo of fire on the back for tanks/maiming.

You can already get that experience, just play a female Elezen or Hrothgar and get something like the Deepshadow fending chestpiece.

Can you imagine doing animations like Royal Authority, or Bloodspiller, or any of the Lionheart steps, while wearing that set in the middle with the huge wings? It'd look goofy as hell

These sets work in WOW because of both the artstyle the game has had for years, and because the animations for attacks in that game are not as over-the-top as what we have here. Crusader Strike and Templar's Verdict don't have you jumping and doing a 720 degree spin-slash mid air

If you want sets that glow, there's options for that, as mentioned earlier in the thread

If you want 'massive wings/pauldrons that don't mesh with the established artstyle of FFXIV, that the game's had for a decade', no thanks. I'm already annoyed enough seeing these gaudy wing Fashion Accessories outside of combat, the last thing we need is to see them IN combat too. And the recent reveal of the Mobile version of the game having glowing Bahamut Wings as a cosmetic you can made me shudder with despair

Having said that, it would be nice to get back to 'actual plate armour' again, this random diversion to 'everything is now Streetwear' is equally not-meshing with the artstyle/previously established settings of the game. And I don't want to hear about 'oh but it's cos Solution Nine', the Streetwear BS started with a PVP set added in EW (the Model A/B/C gear under Universal Gear 1, on the Crystal Vendor, which was added in 6.5)

Yes, but I play it since I like the game vs everyone else, so they pay it to complain on the official forums for years now but refuse to quit.

You will take cut & paste variants of the same 5 trench-coats on your tank and you will LIKE IT.
