Demolition Timers should be adjusted

I have been playing this game for ten years straight on a 6month renewing subscription. love this game, I don't really take long breaks because technically you can't or you lose the house that took you awhile to save up for... been playing a little enshrouded wake of water and received a notification that my house was set for demolition today, I feel like was in the house within 45 days?:confused:?.. that's not really the point tho, if the developers are constantly telling us to take breaks from the game, but taking a break can cause you to lose your house, how can that be reconciled. I'm not asking to remove the demolition timer entirely because then no new players will get a house, but it should be extended.. 3 months 6 months, all I know is "45 days" is not enough time.

Six months isn't a break , it's a hiatus.

Most people within a united states get a week off for PTO if you youre even offered PTO. 7 to 14 days at most for irl. 91 to 180 days to not login to NOT utilize your plof is excessive when their isnt enough for to go around as it is.

you have fun with that La Carte secondary currency for housing items, in a subscription based game. Blizzard isn't doing this for the player, they see a market and $$$ signs.

Its the same devil in a different tuxedo. Your house isnt gonna be demoed if you unsub for extended periods, but you're certainly going to be paying more then your FF14 sub to decorate your house

The secondary currency for World of Warcraft housing is Hearthsteel, a new virtual currency bought with real money in the upcoming Midnight expansion. It is used to purchase exclusive decorations for player housing, though most housing items will still be earnable in-game. It will integrate with the existing Battle.net economy and should be compatible with the WoW Token, allowing players to eventually use gold to purchase Hearthsteel.

Id rather login once a month, rather then be subjected to a secondary purchasable currency "Hearth-steel", that also play into the primary purchasable currency "Wow Tokens" In a game I'm already paying a subscription for

Paying a sub is all you should need. This enter the house in 45 days is a load of.... I enter mine frequently but still shouldn't be necessary for anyone paying to play this game. End your sub well then the timer should kick in, in my opinion although I think 3 months is more reasonable in my view.

I said it many time : housing demolition timer should be aligned on patch duration. Someone that comes back every patch should be able to keep his house. Patch are 19 to 20 weeks, so timer should be around 15/16 weeks (105 to 112 days). Let's be wild, make it 120 days so you have a couple of buffer weeks.

How to word it.. Like so here's the thing, technically XIV doesn't require you to have a subscription to keep you plot, which in itself is the proverbial "slack in the line" If I unsubscribe, and let my sub lapse. My house will still continue to stand despite my subscription being lapsed as long as it has been checked in every other month and a week, give or take. But even if my subscription is active, I will lose it if I do not utilize it. Sidestepping the "paying member argument" as "non payers" are held to the same standard as "payers" A subscription isn't the criteria to keep your plot, its utilization.

The whole idea of demolition is to recapture ABANDONED/UNUSED plots, and those who QUIT also fall under both criteria. But an active subscription user who also abandons or doesn't utilize their plot within a reasonable time-frame falls under that criteria as well. Doesn't matter if your sub is active or not. You need to utilize your plot. If not, apartments are a better option if you wanna set it an forget it.

I don't agree. Paying a sub is all that should be needed. Will they change it doubt it but in my view that doesn't make it right for people who are playing this game and supporting it. You're entitled to your view and that atm is what the devs support but those of us who don't agree can continue to express our view.

Had a friend today dm me she had 3 of her houses under demolition warning with no email. She has a slew of alts on multiple DC's. At the very least if they are going to do what they do they need to get their act together and make sure users are notified by email. That notification should also include an in game warning in chat if you are logged into the game.

They've at least added an in game warning if you enter your garden and not the house proper.

Well then it's a good thing that SE has absolutely no housing items on their cash shop. Esp some crazy high number, like 180 housing items and growing or something crazy like that and esp ones that are not available in the actual game. Nope not SE. not at all.

Are most not past event items that were offered free if you completed the events they were featured in? They are vaulted then sold ,which should encourage us to play the events as they release, or they'll be a paid shop item at a later date. You have the chance to get them free.

Also the Shop is tucked away away from the game itself. I am one who really appreciates the approach that was done with Dream fitting. Allowing players to view Mogstation sets, but keeping the item shop out of the game itself. IMO its very non-invasive. (dream fitting Mogstation Housing items please?)

I got Lightnings Hair and Gloves free, after I join being a newbie and just helping out Lightning, whenever she popped up in La Nosea . I heard about the firestorm, her hairstyle was event exclusive and whoever had it, had it. Whoever didn't was SoL and couldn't obtain it. Eventually they put her hairstyle on the Store. Which feels fair. Get it while its free now, or purchase it later (housing items included)

The key is if you completed the events they were featured in. For new players there is over a decade's worth of furniture locked exclusively behind a paywall and there are furniture pieces that was never offered in the actual game, like the bahamut and carby lamps. Whether you want to believe it or not, SE is doing the exact same thing. I would actually say putting seasonal event items in the cash shop instead of just making them available with a bit of gil the next time the event comes around is a lot more gross. And iirc someone did a count and Mog Station actualy had more on it than the WoW shop and that doesn't even include them doing things like charging us monthly for extra storage (retainers) instead of making it available with a one time purchase with in game currency.

They didn't decide not to add the shop to the game because they care so very much about the player. Putting a storefront in game is exactly what shareholders would want to increase sales. And that's what you want. I don't want an storefront in game. I like the Mogstation being pretty un-invasive and not reachable through XIV itself. Because if you do add it ingame they are going to pattern you into that storefront. Or they wouldnt have added a storefront. So who's trying to make it rain on the shareholders again?

Im ok with them selling retired items. We get a chance to get it free, and S.E gets a chance to sell it. I think that's fair. We want to have fun, and they are wanting us to pay. I think the "Drop to Shop" pipeline is fair for both parties. We have an opportunity to get the drops free, but once the event ends, so does the opportunity to obtain these things for free, and it becomes a paid item eventually. Is there anything "out of pocket" about that? What seems unreasonable about that?


Just like when the game asks people to utilize their plot, and people are like "why do I have to use my plot once every 45 days!?!" and its like....Why is checking into a plot once every other month and a week hard? The game is giving you more time to take a break then most N/A jobs give in a year. And still that's not enough? Which is why I don't really see eye to eye on that. Its not the games job to account for your physical, mental, or emotional well being. This game isn't your friend. They want you to take breaks, but they didn't say they wanted you to leave..

One-month vacations are rare in North America, as the average American takes around 17 days off per year, typically in one to two-week blocks.

Even if I said the timer should be extended, you'll hear a large groan in the back from those who don't have a plot understanding their wait time just increased another 3-6 months at every plot. What of those players? They now just get the short end of the stick, no consideration for them. Tough luck, Timmy I don't feel like playing for 5 months, you can watch my plot sit empty for half the year, to pop in for 5 seconds, and disappear for another 5 months because my emotional attachment to the plot alone is worth more then your want to utilize it. I understand the sentimental value. But here if its valuable to you, you have to find it a niche. Or you will feel sub-locked from your own emotional attachment, but lack of use for it. An become bitter towards the system that assures you have to make use of your plot, that you wanted anyway...

Given you've start before I did. How was your view from the outside looking in when demo timers didn't exist? Were you ok with plots were were abandoned for months on end with no ability to obtain it? I was one of the people very much in favor of freeing up UNUSED plots. Nobody said "Only Non Subscribers plot" The message was UNUSED/Abandoned plots needs to be free up. So here I am, standing on business. Because I asked for the demo timer like so many others to free up unused plots from those who abandoned them. Am I going to ask for the rules to be changed because "I got mine" now?


Im fine with more ways of warnings, but even getting a warning is telling to the amount of use your house is getting.

I have no problem with a demo timer for those who quit playing the game and is something that the company should do. Anyone who has quit the game and my friends list is a testimony to those who are long gone. However, given the length of the patch cycles and the fact that people do stop playing because of a lack of content to take a BREAK and play other games that demo timer should at the least match up with patch cycles. I would suggest a 3 month limit not 45 days to be more reasonable and should ONLY APPLY to those who have stopped paying a sub. As it stands right now the 45 days is nothing more that a way to hold people hostage and keep them subbed.

You unsub the housing timer kicks in. If you return by renewing your sub the timer resets. Pretty simple actually.

And I might add that I've never stopped paying my sub which at the current time auto renews every 3 months. I also own houses on Aether, Crystal, Dynamis, Chaos, Light, Mana and Materia. Alts owning those houses are all end game level 100 characters and keep me pretty busy especially with new patches.

There was a time when you could buy past seasonal event items during a new event with in game currency. I know the Summer event allowed the purchase of bathing suits from previous years but that stopped at some point and as you've pointed out those items went to the cash shop.

My big issue with the Cash Shop and as a result I buy little from there is items are not account wide and for someone like me with many alts that is not something I'm willing to support. Only items i buy multiple of for my alts are some of the cheap emotes (dances especially) that are no longer available in game. Dote, songbird and a few others for example. Most of those are 2 dollars but it still irks me that we have no emote, item, mount or achievement bank which is account wide like many other games.

It's an emotional investment towards a virtual house in a videogame you're disinterested in playing. If you wanna save money, don't renew. If you want to keep your plot, then keep your sub active and check into it every now and again.

Demolition timers should be less, not more.

I've been fighting for a mansion (large) house for 10+ years. People who aren't enjoying the daily fun of furniture building should let someone else have their fun.

I mean yes. But also any house will do now days. Seeing how when they release that mirage thing where small interiors will be massive ( large ) ones.

It would probably cause them to lose an insanely huge chunk of players for 3 months at a time though, so I'm not sure they'd ever do that. 1 month, they can keep people on a tight leash. 3 months? We just saw what 6 months of no-demolition did. It freed up thousands of plots, because so many people took an extended break and then decided they were over XIV completely, lol.

Aye it would basically mean everyone would vanish once they are done with the current patch content.

In World of Warcraft, auto-demolition happens a certain amount of time after your subscription lapses, but I can't find any hard info on exactly when. However, your layout is saved, and when you log back in, you simply need to choose a new plot (Far easier than in FFXIV), and the house will be instantly restored/rebuilt with all progress and customization as it was.
