HOUSING NEEDS TO CHANGE

Where to start like I know why auto demo is a thing but the fact it can still mess up active players is beyond silly, just lost my M house granted it's cus of my disabilites that concertration isn't my best trait but emails that may or may not notify you and the "timers" tab like it's something that I don't don't really use because I am easly distracted by yk playing the game and chatting but the fact I didn't even get a in game pop up about it OR that you don't even use YOUR IN GAME MAIL is insane bad. You distroyed my house that I earnt and I actually feeling sick cus I loved my house granted I knwo I can enter the true pvp of this game and will probs end getting a S house because we know how much you guys love your botters and rmt activites but it was still MINE and it was comfy ;-; but don't even get me started on the bots that you call helpful gm team cus they was anything but pretty sure they are only intrested in banning people for saying they are giga wasting other peoples time in savage and telling them maybe they shouldn't join party finder groups that they should yeah great job gm team! ggwp rip my house 10000000% my own fault was 1000000% just afk not doing anything in the game

My suggestion is this
Housing Plots to have S M or L when they win the plot, gives people something to upgrade and could maybe have 24h approval peariod or something
MAKE AUTO DEMO WORK ON A "oh hey she is logged in so maybe don't freaking yeet her house into the shadow realm"
USE YOUR IN GAME MAIL it's there for a reason. use it, no reason not to
Fix your GM Team honestly never seen a bunch of useless people in my life bet half of them enter raids with broke gear and don't ask people for repairs, their apoligies felt more like ggez with a candy coating at least don't lie to me that you care yk
also compansate people for stuff like this, holy heck you have any idea the items I need to get rid of to save my stuff? it's unfair to loyal customers to be slapped in the face like this and beening told "ermm actually this your problem" which I get not gonna pretend but spitting in the face of people that have been playing for a long time disgusts me in ways I can't explain cus I will get banned!

It does kind of sting you lose your house even if you're subbed and don't visit it, but I guess in the mind of the people in charge of the system.. Use it or lose is the philosophy.. I do feel like they need to implement this philosophy on themselves tho.

Happend to me aswell. I had a house, i went inside it 2 days earlier. no email, no demo timer or anything.

logged in 2 days later just poof. I told GM. and i was given a tin can answer. so i don't think SE gives a damn imo

I guess what I mean is, I sympathize with you for losing the house even tho you were subbed to the game but didn't visit it.

What I mean about the other part is the people in charge have this system in place to make sure whoever has it uses it.. The other part of this is I wish they would USE some of that same vibe on themselves because the game is kind of seeping through their fingers in a way, and they need to use what they have instead of just turning away from it and just kind of hoping the next story is gonna save it. The story is in ashes, the gameplay getting kind of stale and crusty. And other competitors are rising up. And the apparent tone deafness the people in charge seem to exhibit is mind blowing to me. I saw some good news about business changes from a message someone posted, good for Square Enix overall probably, but may be too late for XIV to reclaim it's heralded spot at the top. And to be fair, I never thought the story of XIV was some stellar piece of fiction that will stand the test of time. I liked Heavensward. I enjoyed ARR enough. Everything else since has just been in the way node clicky time to unlock all the zones to do the stuff I enjoy doing, like crafting and decorating houses and doing fates/maps with my FC.

Since you've made clear you've been trying to get your own plot in your forum history. You were a tenant (I assume), and the owner never logged in so it demoed because the owner hasn't checked in within 45 days but you did. But doing so, doesn't reset the timer.

They do send out email, but those are iffy if they reach you or not, but you also get a notification in-game. But if you don't remember the last time you've been inside your plot. That in itself is a sign you are losing tabs on your plot. An need to try to make more utilization of it.

I use mine as a dynamic screensaver for my TV/Console, if I'm not actively playing. Utilize your plot to some level and the demo time will never be an issue. Short of financial or personal hardships. Or personal interest in the game/feature waning.

Trust me it's not cus I am inactive far from it, in fact I was in my house with some friends a week or 2 before auto demo, but the main issue is the notifaction prosess just isn't good enough but emails are neither here nor there but a slight pop up that's honestly really easty to miss and "timers" really isn't good enough when they could send important stuff like housing, events and stuff through in game mail that does gives a notifaction everytime you load in or login is straight dumb

I feel like I seen a solution to your problem, and Im pointing out the solutions, but that's agitating you. And I'm not doing it for that. But to point out, "Hey yea that impossible task? Yea there's a few easy pickings here! Hey why are you ignoring me? Oh you see it and willingly avoid the posts showing you where the open uncontested plots are. Ok I'm just gonna stick it here where its too obvious to ignore"

He doesn’t want anything except trashing the Housing system.
His post history already shows multiple stories that contradict each other.

He claims he was a victim of the demolition bug yet provides zero evidence to support it.
This is irregularity number one in which I would prefer to call it a lie, but let me be polite.
The owner of a house always receives an email when the plot enters the demolition timer.
The so-called “demolition bug” is a myth.
Most of the time, these people don’t realize they’re only tenants, and tenants do not reset the demolition timer on a personal house the way FC members can for an FC plot.

Irregularity number two is his claim that he “keeps losing bids,” but he was recently face-slapped by the fact that there were plenty of small plots on his own server that had zero bidders.
He went absolutely silent the moment he got challenged and hoping the thread dies, I assume.

And no scorn either. I just don't want to be picked on all the time, when i write, or reply to someone. You are free to do as you wish of course. But i have no direct scorn, hatred, malice towards you.

So I've found out from past exp that SE emails are unreliable at best and it's much simpler and easier to write down the start of the break or the last time you 100% visited your old home on a calendar app and then count the days until the next future visit within 45 days limit to be on the safe side.

I have a small private house, and this is what I do when I try to visit it and eat one of the food deco to be sure I interacted with something inside it, and I've had it for several years now.

I got a easier way.

Once per subscription lapse, resub, walk into the house and you wont need to check it again, until you get hit with the message "No Active Service account"

I have a simple monthly reminder, that I then forward to all my friends who have a house as well just in case. I also just check the Timers menu relatively often, but it's not very convenient. I'd love a chat notification or for it to automatically be open when I log in, like the Recommendations menu.

Timer menu only works on the DC your character is on. If you own multiple houses on multiple DC's those notifications are not available. And I totally agree any house in danger of demolition should include an in chat warning that it's about to happen and to check your email and timer menu's.

I own houses on multiple DC's and many of my characters are in a semi vacation mode given they've geared and finished patches are simply waiting for new content to become active again. Given the length of the new patch cycles of about 4 months if you're not careful a house could become demolition eligible.

I'm sorry you lost your house op.

Yes, that I why I have a simple monthly reminder on my calendar. On that day, I go through all of my characters who own a house or maintain an FC house and reset all the houses in one fell swoop. Then I can forget about it for the next 30 days ^^ it's the least hassle method if you have more than one character

I think a big glaring issue here, is that a lot of people simply do not read the rules of owning a house.
Time after time, we see people come to the forum confused and outraged, because their house that wasn't even theirs to begin with got repo'd. That's not the case here I don't think, but there needs to be more thorough reviews of the rules when people win one. I think they get too excited that they finally won and just zoop past the information menu and click Own Plot, or whatever. So let's review.

1. Being on or near your property is not enough, you must go inside your house at least one time a month.
2. If you are a tenant, you do not own the house. If the owner who is not you does not enter for a month, the house will be demolished. The only exception to this is FC's. If it is a private home and the real owner does not go in, it will be lost.
3. Check your /timers, don't rely on emails. "I'm never on my dc" and that's why you'll lose it, because you aren't even using it anyway, evidenced by you not even being on your own dc enough to be bothered to check.

It's very simple. Did you personally win that house? Ok, go inside it every week to be safe.
Every single week, go inside. Log out in it. Every time you play, before you finish, run into your house and log out-put your character to bed. Foolproof method. "Alright guys, I gotta go home now!" Don't idle in towns forever, logging in and out off the street. What sense does that even make? You own that house, be in it as often as you can. Don't confuse yourself with multiple properties. This happens a lot too. "I know I went into my house!..it was right after visiting my two apartments and shared house #3" No, you're confused. You likely went into a shared plot or apartment, and mistook that in your memory as going into your actually owned house. Don't juggle a bunch of properties to avoid making that mistake. Or if you do, just make sure again, that no matter what, you're in your actual house so often that there's no mistaking it. Make a habit of taking screenshots when you were last in your house as well, if you wander away for days at a time. If you're going to be infrequent, keep track.

As for what else they could do, the pop up menu that they use for the Eternal Bond renewal thing could also be repurposed into housing reminds as well. Also, I think that the beds we get for our houses should allow us to log out from them too-from personally owned plots only to avoid confusion over which property they're logging out from, and ensure that they're preserving their owned house keenly. I'm sure its complicated to implement, but people being able to log from their beds would not only be a tad more immersive, but would also encourage people to go the heck home for the night!!

Funny, when I first got a house, I was so used to logging out from the bed in the Mizzenmast that I didn’t realize my house bed wouldn’t allow me to log out! XD I had never done it any other way! My hubby and friends still tease me about it.

I’d like to see that just for the immersion. But really I’d rather see them give us an additional room to every house, personal and FC, that’s essentially a copy/pasted inn room. Then we could have the glamour dresser accessible through our own property, and log out in the bed. Two birds with one stone! lol

i have a large wow house and a med ffx14 house now i got my wow house today lots of land animals bam had lot people try to get it i killed it soon as i landed im on a cliff and i can look down in the valley

I like that as long as the connection is stable, it doesn't log you out. Ive managed to avoid the Playstation Network outages, by being logged in when the outage happened. It'll boot me off PSN, but it'll remained logged into XIV. But it needs PSN to authenticate. So you're already in before the outage, you're good, if youre not logged in you wont be able login.


I park out in my plot, set up pose n leave for the day.

Absolute BEST time? Right before bidding time ends, because that's when you can see which plots have the least competition and also don't have to wait very long to know the results. Extra points if it's a dead patch like a couple months into .55 or a similar time where many players go into a hiatus and some don't remember to keep their houses on check.


If I were you, this would be my plan:
- Wait until it is bidding time
- Manually comb through all the wards in the district(s) I'm interested in, then make a list of all the plots I would like to bid in
- Wait until the last day for bidding, make sure you're not late
- Go bid on whichever plot in your list has the least amount of bids
- Pray/Profit/???/etc.


Repeat until you win. This is a game of endurance.

One of the worst similar cases I've seen from sideline was stupid situation involving young lady frenemies and one opportunist -- ...last of whom i would call the real badguy.

Girl1 wanted med house real bad when we were on clicking wars era of buying. Then, as you sometimes do, she made friend in Limsa who shared her aspiration for house. G1, for some reason trusted the Limsa guy with her 18mil, who bought them 20mil med. Great right, he was owner and G1 was tenant - until G2, G1's former friend cajoled the Limsa guy to kick G1 out...
Theories you make of this situation, like what the house was used for have high chance of being true.
G1 and her other friend (lets just call her G3) came to bring the news of this situation to myself and my fc co-lead, understanably upset + request to borrow the whole fc treasury (15mil, we were poor lil fc at that point of time ok :D) to buy new med.

At this point we learned that G1 had small plot all along.

She got our money after being very slowly explained that she could have simply relocated, by herself, without help from some guy from Limsa she had known for 3 days max.

lol very fun FC drama right there. I will never get tired of aggressively pointing sprouts at the wikis and official sites before they buy a house. They don't know any better, so we must do what we can to inform them as thoroughly as possible before they make a decision they might be upset about in the future.
