Ocean Fishing style atctivities for Miners, and Botanists

I think it would be neat if Miners, and Botanists had their own instance gameplay like how Fishers have Ocean Fishing.

Miners could get like archaeological digs where they go to ruins, and types of dig sites to uncover artifacts, and fossils to fill out lore logs. It could use extensive use of the Collectable system. There could be friendly Spriggans wandering around who will grant players various buffs like GP regens or increased proc chances. Excursions could depart from Ul'dah.

Botanists could get like seasonal harvests or something where players can go to a location, and just gather up as many items as they can in the allotted time, and be scored based on if they collected items that are 'in season.' Friendly Elementals could show up, and grant buffs to players. Trips could depart from Gridania.

So yeah, it would be cool to get something like these for Miners, and Botanists. Of course, they would various achievements with rewards, and can be used for leveling, and scrips.

Really like this idea! I’ve always liked Ocean Fishing and it would be fun to have similar activities for the other 2 gatherers.

Fishers participate in Red Alerts, and the same goes for the other missions in Cosmic Exploration and Ishgard Restoration.

It's odd, fishing is treated as a regular gatherer but has a whole host of stuff totally unique to it. It's just a different beast and Miners and Botanists could absolutely use some new mechanics for a little more parity.

That sounds almost fun, best they can do is more levequests

I'd absolutely LOVE this kinda content for botanist and miner as well. I hope the community team passes it on. ^_^

I would love to see them give us instanced housing in an untamed area and let us use our mining and botanist jobs to clear the area allowing us to build bigger homes and even gardens or something.

Underground mines outside Ul'dah would be a fantastic spot for mining expeditions and the forests of the shroud for botany, since they pretty much tossed the elemental anger thing out the window already. Botanist could also be used in a farming sim sort of thing to plant and grow tree, shrubs and crops, then they could add a shepard job for us to raise animals for meat and skins in the same area while mining could be used in archealogy as you said.

There is just so much untapped potential in this game.

My ideas were:
For Miner, Ul'dah can have like a minecart ride minigame. An archeology mission like you mentioned would also be great.

For Botanists, Gridania could have some mission to cull back some giant/monstrous plants brought to life by sylphs. Interactions with elementals could be really fun to add too.

Oh this is a lovely idea! I loved how Ocean Fishing brought something fun to FSH that made it a little easier to convince people to give it a try. Maybe something more action packed for BTN and MIN would do the same. Very interested in the mine cart scenario, maybe we can work to help free some of the formerly enslaved giants in Copperbell Mines? Work as a team and pick (pun not intended but accepted) different paths to look for relics? There's a lot of neat possibilities in some sort of gathering foray.

For BTN maybe scouting areas for new flora post-Calamity? I feel a fun jungle expedition would work nicely. Or we could work with Gridania and the Elementals as someone mentioned to prune back invasive species and restore harmony.

Lovely ideas, it'd be great to have more evergreen and chill gatherer content to participate in together!

I never got into Ocean Fishing too much but this sounds like it could be fun

1.0's Hamlet Defense was sort of like this.
You could bring battle classes but there was achievements for doing it without it.

I had a theory that the devs could reuse the dungeons and make them usable for the gathering classes as well. I think I made a post about that years ago on here.
