SMN/SCH & BLM/WHM weapons should be glamour-compatible between jobs

Since they implied in the liveletter that the only reason they're not allowing cross-job weapon glamouring is the high possibility of it looking weird during animations and not, y'know, lore friendliness (which by unrestricting artifact gear I think has gone out the window doing Tony Hawk tricks), they could let us glamour these very similar weapons between jobs.

BLM and WHM should share the staff weapon type for glamour purposes, while SMN and SCH would be able to share their books between themselves.

I wonder if SMN/SCH books are since they share the same base class?

Agreed, with all the weapons sharing the same basic models too, as it would let me have some cool canes for my BLM.

While they are there... Can wands be converted into "WHM/BLM arms"? So they can be glamoured.

Back on my sprout days many years ago I went to the store to find something that I could keep glamouring consistently. I saw that weapon and bought it, but even though the shop features a disclaimer "This item cannot be used as a glamour for two-handed conjurer's arms." I didn't know they simply stopped getting 1h weapons after a while.

They could at the very very least label those 2 store wands into 2h weapons. The animations are even the same, only thing that changes is the sheathing method.

Actually IDK if WHM/BLM even gets "2-hand" as a nomeclature anymore, isn't just "WHM arms" and "BLM arms" now? I think DNC's used to be labeled as something like "Throwing weapons" before it was changed too, but might not be remembering right.

I'd very much love to use those Scepters and Wands as a glamour to my Staves & Canes, purely because their larger sibling clips horrendously.

I use my moogle wands+lv1 glam shield as a comical form of defiance against Canes in Save the Queen contents (because they have a fixed stat sync in there :P).

This is hardly something I think they will do, mostly just so there is no exceptions on weapons, even so I'd not mind it being added since they are the same kinds of weapons and would not break for animations.

As for the wands? yes please, there are way too many good looking wands for them to be labeled useless and left to rot like that, the animations are the same minus the sheathe and even then I'd not care if they did end up on my back or at least be animated as if they went on my back, I just want to use my cute wand of frost again....

Are we for sure this won't be the case? The way the slide was worded I feel like it might be possible that it'll happen. SMN/SCH for sure it'd be easy, but BLM/WHM I think are iffy since the battle stance/victory emotes are tied to weapons and BLM and WHM clearly use different versions of those emotes but SMN and SCH use the same. I guess we'll find out next month.

Only if the weapon is tagged for Arcanist use. Most high level books are locked to either job. The devs are pretty consistent with labeling them, too. Codexes are always for Scholars.

I feel like it won’t happen just so there’s no exceptions across the board, because really only SMN/SCH could get away with this, having the same weapon models. As a SMN main who never uses her free SCH lol, I don’t know if all their other animations for attacks and such are exactly the same or not. BLM/WHM, despite having very similar weapons, definitely hold and move with those weapons differently.

Maybe this would inspire them to make “replica” series of weapons eventually, that could be used by classes that are similar to each other. Kinda like how they had a few different versions of Gaia-inspired weapons, but those were cash shop. I would really love to see more wands and staves added, but I’m also hoping someday we get a caster who uses wands as their main weapon too.

Not really. I know SE calls them "canes" vs "rods/staves," but they are still both in the same staves category, as in they don't change beyond the casting animations, and it's already possible using TPT to switch them around now. It's not like I'm asking to switch the RDM foil with the PLD sword, which wouldn't be possible atm.

I'm not sure about the difficulties, but I agree, I don't play BLM and I just hope I could use some of their staffs .:') in the end, they are all staffs... and some are the same model just recolors (or even dyeable so they can look the same). It's true they can have some with "vibes" of dps/healer, but anyway, with removing glam restrictions just why not? :)

There do be a certain overlap with some weapons. Like PLD and all DOL/DOH items.

NIN/DNC could be a fun swap as well, though would need some adjustments to avoid floating items.

I agree, This would be a small but nice thing.

Though ultimately I wish we didn't have this odd system of locking weapons to jobs, unlike most other games where Jobs can have different sort of weapons it's very bland for customization. But that's a task that would take way too much resources when we got a lot more pressing issues like job design itself.

They're not "both in the same staves category" though – there's no "staves" category at all, only "conjurer's two-handed arms" and "thaumaturge's two-handed arms". So it's unlikely that the game will recognise them as interchangeable even if they physically should be.

Based on the wording of the letter slide, it does give me the impression that at the least SCH/ACN/SMN will have glammable weapons. I really hope so also as my main SCH/SMN glams have identical books with different color schemes that I'd like to change :( The animations between the two jobs are also identical as far as I can tell.

As for WHM and BLM... I think there may be additional coding involved in these two as both have different animations. But I would love it! So many BLM staffs look like they should have been for WHM and vice versa lol.
