More NPCs for All Saints Wake

All Saints Wake is a special and always highly anticipated event for us console players/GPosers because of the Unsavory Imp and its ability to turn into NPC characters. For a few weeks a year we can enjoy taking pics with or as a lot of characters we normally don’t have access to because they’re not found on the world map or because it‘s only possible during Trust/Duty Support runs. And most importantly: we can use emotes with them! It‘s always such a blast every year!

So first I wanted to thank the team for still adding new characters to the NPC list! The redesigned list looks gorgeous as well!

Now, why I am writing this post in particular is a small plea (okay, more of a big beg…):

It would be so amazing to see more NPCs added to the list!
Like, for example, the jobquest NPCs. Or other minor but beloved NPCs. Or Haurchefant. Or the twins. Or some of the Elpis characters…I‘m sure there’s many more NPCs players would be happy to see and interact with!

And while I‘m at it, I also have a personal dream scenario: something like the imp we would be able to spawn in the overworld and/or explorer mode (like a minion maybe?) which could turn into the NPC of our choice, who then follows us around (only for the player or only in GPose to see, so it wouldn’t bother/confuse other players). It would open up so many amazing possibilities in GPose, especially if they had all emotes unlocked.

I know this part might be impossible, but one can dream :) adding more NPCs to the already existing list would hopefully be easier to do.

I did notice the addition of a couple Bozja Beastmaster NPCs that I think were new? But I would really love to have the Elpis cast added. I wonder if it has anything to do with custom character models; I’m guessing that in order to use it this way, it needs to be able to do all the emotes a player’s character can, and maybe some don’t have that ability? But if it’s working more like a glamour, I’d definitely hope to see more.

Also love your dream scenario! I’d love something like that in general, maybe using our retainers. :)

Stop dreaming, it won’t happen sadly. The devs would have to put like 10 minutes of effort to add a new NPC to the list — that’s too much work for them.

Okay, no need to be rude to either Nhalyia or the devs.

I think it's a great idea, and the the devs do sometimes implement requests like these. Granted, we're FAR more likely to get an expanded list of NPCs to change into than the imp/minion idea (at least for now), but hey it's still progress! And I've noticed a lot of people asking for expanded NPC lists or complaining about some of the NPCs you can't turn into, and not just here, so I guarantee they know about it. It's probably too late to add anyone this year, but next year we might get a very pleasant surprise.

As for the imp/minion idea... I would genuinely like to see that be a feature we get in general. Like maybe the ability to summon up to 7 minions in gpose (for a full party) and apply any NPC skin or a look we have saved in character creation/benchmark. Or even be able to customize them in gpose. It would add a lot of ease of use and functionality to our current gpose options.

Yes, please!! I'd love if they added the Crystal Exarch or Scion G'raha Tia!

Job quest characters could be nice, I just can't see ancients happening though because their skeleton wouldn't have all the emotes, this would also disqualify a good chunk of job quest characters, or actually maybe that's just the BLM characters that can't be done, I can't actually think of any major ones outside that

The Papalymo erasure is unforgivable.

I believe it's less engine limitations, and more about spoilers.

We noticed that allied NPCs who are gone aren't in the list either. No Ysayle or Haurchefaunt.

I'm not sure what spoilers they are trying to avoid. It seems you only have access to characters you would have met.

The issue appears to be that other players would be running around on 'spoiler' characters I feel. Which... just put in the Exarch with his hood up, for instance. Basically anyone who isn't a walking spoiler by design (like Fandaniel and alternate outfit Zenos) who has sufficient movement physics. Calyx, for instance, straight up doesn't have leg physics looking at it from cutscenes. lol

Without context the only spoiler would be that there is a character that looks like that at some point. (That would make everyone a spoiler) They would literally have to do research to have any plot spoiled. A character changing clothes is not a spoiler and the identity of the Exarch is on the level of Darth Vader is Luke's father at this point, except some people were actually surprised by that at the time.
