Drop the PoTD req

I've been trying to get these floors done on just ONE alt for weeks now, and no one queues. I'm in queue for over an hour to get floor 21-30. Nothing in PF. People are not doing this content, and it's blocking people from being able to do something new, because they didn't do content added in 3.35. I'm fine with there being a pre-req, but this isn't it.

Just open your own group in PF? I have no Issues to build a PF Group, so instead of waiting that someone else opens one just do it on your own.

Soloing floors 1-50 of PotD is not especially challenging. There's a good guide out there, and in the previous patch, SE buffed Aetherpool gains. An hour spent sitting in a queue could just as easily be an hour spent actually clearing a set of floors.

SE should get rid of arbitrary requirements generally. You have to do Heavenward's Stone, Sky, Sea unlock to access higher level versions of the same thing, so most people likely never find out that Stone, Sky, Sea exists due to ignoring old quests. You have to do ARR and Heavensward's hunt unlock quests to unlock the hunt systems in expansions, causing some people to be unable to even join hunt parties.

But SE just never fixes or addresses anything hardly. It's all about the new patch content and that is the only thing they focus on, even as the rest of the game falls into irrelevance and disrepair, burdened by years of systems buried upon eachother without being addressed or even noticed by the developers.

Soloing POTD 1-10 without any aetherpool is hard. I tried it on a healer back when it released and failed due to lack of DPS/time. I was at literally the last boss as well.

Most likely, that is why they buffed aetherpool to make it more likely you are powerful enough by then.

That said, I did manage to solo the first 30 floors of EO on Red Mage without any initial aetherpool, but our kits are a lot more extensive at that level and you can do virtually anything by that level.

Yea but like he said, they buffed the Aetherpool Gain, so now Silver Chest gives minimum 5 Level and Defeating any Boss on any Floor gives +10, so it really isnt hard at all anymore to solo 1-50

I don't see why someone should start a deep dungeon expirience with the oldest content in existance.
The game itself should be more welcoming towards the new players.

Well, thankfully, today, we have things like the guide I linked to, where you'd learn that soloing on healer is a real challenge, and that there are many other jobs where you'd have an easier time of it.

(Like, seriously, an actually useful criticism of what I said would relate to what the experience is like today, not what people had to suffer through eight years and a million expansions ago.)

Fun fact: My first foray into Pilgrim's Traverse was solo. With zero aetherpool and all that. I got through 1-10 just fine, in no small part due to my (solo) experience with PotD. It was basically PotD, but with less ugly scenery and a better soundtrack.

Soloing it on dps, especially as a PCT with the changes, makes soloing 1-50 quite easy now, even without max aetherpool. Put sustaining potions on your hotbar that you get from the mobs, eat some food and go to town.

You can also try going on Warrior if soloing as Pictomancer is too much.

Why not solo it? Or ask some friends?
I’m honestly confused about how playing the game has become an issue here.

You’re asking for the Palace of the Dead requirement to be dropped so you can jump straight into another Deep Dungeon. You do realize they’re all built on the same foundation, right? So essentially, you want the devs to make an exception so you can skip Palace only to turn around and probably quit halfway through Pilgrim’s Traverse, too? It won't get any easier, you know. Potd is a small ask.

Be honest, Do you really think if the Requirement was lifted, that Pilgrims Traverse would be any different? You’ll ace through all 100 floors in an evening? Of course you wouldn't!
Just look at your progress, and you're already looking for an exit. No, I'm sorry, this is simply whining.

After you clear (And you will clear I don't doubt it if you try) reaching floor 50 the requirement will mean absolutely nothing to you, it will be forgotten from your memory - barely an inconvenience as it was for literally everybody who came before.

And for the record, This isn't some secret that only the legacy players knew about and was kept secret from you, not everybody who has done Potd was even around back then in 3.35, or did it when it was current. I certainly didn't, and I'm not the only one. But eventually, everyone has sat down and done Potd they were doing it in 4.0, 5.0, and 6.0 - and quite frankly now it's the most approachable its ever been.

What have you been doing all this time?

What is stopping you that stopped no one before? Deep down, you know the problem isn’t the requirement. You just need to believe you can do it.
Of course, the system will appear unfair to you when you're starting from the bottom. Just clear Potd.
I know my tone in this has been harsh but you can do it. You will.

My earliest memories of Potd is actually being level 30 sprout back in heavensward doing it for the first time with the person who introduced me to the game. (Because I was told it was a fast way to level) As we got to the higher floors floor 40 I started getting spells I wasn't familiar with and didn't know what I was doing. We wiped. I just wanted to have fun with my friend. And a moment stuck with me because the person who introduced me to the game told me "It's not about having fun... you're just bad at the game"
That still hits the core of me and how I approach the game even now, everything I do in a sense is to prove I'm a good player. What it means to be a Good player that's what has driven me so far. I'm still not there yet. But don't think for a second you can't do this or that it's impossible. Whether if it's with a friend or yourself you can do this.

I know what it’s like to struggle, but you can still do it — I did. PT will be waiting for you.

If you're not against coming to OCE and tolerating the higher ping for a little while, I can get a couple of friends and we can get it done with you. Everyone's really busy right now in my group, but we can make it work on a weekend in about a week or two, maybe earlier if I ask some other people, but I won't be there this weekend or the next.

Id be happy to help u on crystal next week!( working overnights this week T_T) I have max aetherpool so i could help u cheese most of it. I solod 1-50 as rdm stocked with echo drops and sustaining potions. A tactic i used was maygi's guide on potd enemies n bosses, spammed floors 1-30 to build up aetherpool decent enough and bought the sust pots to continue. Hug the wall to avoid traps and grab all treasure chests for the buffs. Im sure people will start posting on pf this week too now that ppl are logging in for patch..

At least until yesterday it wasn't that easy to get through PotD solo. I think I spent (only) somewhat between 15 and 20 hours so far. My best progress until then was floor 30 where I failed to defeat the boss. When you found a silver chest and thought you finally get a bit stronger, most of the time you got the message that the Aetherpool didn't increase. And because you had to defeat the boss in order to save the Aetherpool gained through that 10 floors I had to start again from floor 1 in hope the Aetherpool will increase in floors 11 to 20.

I will probably try it again with the recent changes in the near future.

Whether or not that's it's accessible solo or not (frankly, for a brand new player with 0 aetherpool and no deep dungeon knowledge at all, I doubt it is, and it's gonna take a lot of time to get there), the fact remains that this requirement is dumb and makes zero sense.

Your average person just unlocking some casual deep dungeon content isn't looking that up, and certainly not just to get to floor 50 or 100. It's more of a guide for getting to 200 solo.

I only know what it was like in Heavensward simply because that was the only time I ever had 0 aetherpool. Realistically, I'm not going to spend all my aetherpool just to test this when the aetherpool is useful to me.

I didn't really remember the details of the buffs and didn't know it was quite that extensive. I was guessing it was more of a minor buff than that like +1, and without having 0 aetherpool again I couldn't imagine if it would help a new player enough. But 5 from each chest should probably get their aetherpool half to cap in the first 10 floors, and if aetherpool is capped for a given floor then everything is easy solo.

The aetherpool has a coin flip chance to gain if ur ap is greater than the floorset.. so if ur on floor 30 with about 30ap armor then you have a chance it won't increase.. theboss is a guarantee increase.. which is why ppl are encouraged to go on higher floors

What's the reasoning behind this requirement, anyway?

Is there any reason why you don't use PF to ask for help?

This is one of those requirements where I don’t really see a purpose

You can argue that POTD 1-50 was a good “tutorial” for HOH when HOH was current in SB because HOH doesn’t really have a tutorial but pilgrims especially feels like it could easily be your first deep dungeon and it wouldn’t really be that much of a concern

While sure people can argue the point of the requirement they can't make it much easier than that to actually do it. People have it so much easier now with the sustaining potion drops and aetherpool changes and people "still" complain.

They didn't change it for HoH. They didn't change it for Orthos. They did not change it for Pilgrim. Why are people still acting surprised? Just go and get it done and you won't have to deal with potd again regardless of future dungeons. If you don't want to do PoTD I wager you probably weren't interested in Pilgrims.

dont worry happens but yea they buffed it really significant, i started today with it again because i wanted another kinna weapon, of course it involves rng luck to get silver chest spawns but i was already after doing 1-20 on armor and weapon about level 55, so its really insane the increase we have now

I've been a bit puzzled by their continuing insistence on having this requirement, too. Pilgrim's seems the perfect introduction for players into Deep Dungeon. Unless the PotD story was going to play in somewhere in future Deep Dungeon content, I don't know why that one is singled out as a requirement. Especially because even leveling there hasn't really worked to keep it alive any longer.

Can also use pomander to turn into succubus and do it quicker.

I don’t use anything on that boss no matter the job. Also, there are no pommanders of Raising in PotD until lvl 51. Just focus on the adds when they come out to kill them before the scream, stay out of aoe and the boss will die in about 2-3 minutes depending on your job. Giving the boss 5 vuln stacks for a total of 50% vuln debuff with the Succubus (lust pommander) as mentioned in the post above works fine if you want to speed things up but it’s really not needed. Started a fresh character a few weeks ago and soloing the low levels of PotD has never been easier due to how fast you now gain aetherpool.

Also: appropriate HQ food can give you an extra 10% vitality.

Maygi’s guide and the Deep Dungeon Compendium are very handy to anyone wanting to solo a DD but if all that’s wanted is to reach lvl 50, the first 5 bosses of PotD are very straightforward: kill adds if any, avoid aoe, avoid being hit when you can. If you get Gelmorran Potsherds you can buy sustaining potions if you want more healing (not needed on low levels, just extra safety).

Yes, AoEs are bad and potions were already covered. Not sure why food would matter if you didn't even need pomanders though. Would also be worth mentioning if you were a tank, because presumably people would charge in there with SMN or MCH, ignore the adds and die, or just get auto'd to death during the stun because they didn't heal. They're probably more likely to have the pomanders than the food too.

It's not that complex, just the one single wall in 1-50 that could take someone by surprise.

You don't need food for that. I was just mentioning it. A mch or smn with low aetherpool destroys these adds in no time and no, you can't charge in there with a tank and not kill the ads. If op is inexperienced, keeping the potions for the lvls 41-49 mobs may be of more use.

Quantum while being interesting challenge at 40 is dead on arrival before patch was even released live.

So far on Light dc i saw exactly one q15 (not from start so probably 4 friends that already did some prog), 4-5 q40 either start/shackles with same people hosting (and idk if one person from start entered it).

And this is Friday. And and and and besides 99/99 you need restorative pots (unless you hate healers).

Can they even revive what was not alive in first place? I will probably start posting pf myself once i go through guide/barely existing raidplans, but I can't see clearing this myself not because difficulty, but because no one is interested in it (even easiest q15 difficulty).

I did 91-100 potd and was baffled that every mob drops restorative potion, while for quantum they not only enable them for boss but also make you FARM IT FOR NO REASON.

And quantum need people to finish the DD before, a lot of people are probably still progging that so you won't see them already. And just like with Criterion, it's 4 person content so people are probably trying it with their friend instead of pf.

It takes like 2 or 3 hours tops to clear PotD req. COPE

Just put the fries in the bag and do a floor 50 run - get like 1-3 FC mates to go with you in a Fixed party if you don't think you can solo it.

If you don't go gung-ho into every mine and bomb you can come across, you can easily do this in under 2 hours.

Yesterday I went into PotD to see how the changes are. I started at floor 21 with weapon at 28 and armor at 33. I was able to make it to floor 50 in one go. After floor 40 the weapon was at 59 and the armor at 58, after that it hasn't increased. Without the changes it would have taken 20 or more hours, I guess. The new potions with the regen effect also help a lot. I would say now it's possible to do floor 1 to 50 in one go when you start with 0 atherpool.

Considering I did my first 1-50F in one go on a job with limited self-healing capability prior to the changes? 5 hours max. That's the instance timers.

As long as you keep a steel pomander for bosses and cycle potions you get for basically free, you will be plenty fine. The bosses have like 1-2 mechanics.
