Garlemald resoration/rebuilding

So i'm sure like everyone else here want to see a Garlemald lifestyle content. Where we help the Garleans to either rebuild Garlemald or go to The Clockwork City of Goug. Since the Clockwork City is linked to the Garleans and might be their true ancestral homeland. So i can see using Goug as the next part of the lifestyle content to help the Garlean people and get a housing area in Goug.

They wouldn't accept any help from the outside.

The Garleans are too proud people to have someone interfere with their way of life. They'd rather starve than accept some food from someone, and only a few are amiable towards the outside.
They want it to fix this all on their own, and right now at best get assist from the sidelines via trading deals and nothing else.

They ushered in the fall of their own nation, and sure as hell want to pick themselves up with no hand extended to them.

I want restoration for a lot of areas: Yanxia, Lakeland, Garlemald, Heritage Found, the list goes on. It's all left as perpetual rubble and it's sad that years later it's still like that. Obviously, it should only clean up the rubble for those of us that have progressed far enough.

Restoring Doman Enclave felt like restoring a tiny percentage of the mess that Yanxia is and didn't feel good because of it. Even if the enemies continue to roam, seeing a building surrounding them purely on certain players' end that progressed enough would be fine.

As Arrius said, the Garleans are too proud for their own good and are wary of accepting all but the most basic assistance from the Eorzean Alliance, and so certainly would not want that riffraff dictating how they rebuild.

Not to mention most of the capital's population is now either dead, still tempered by Anima (although the Islabardian Contingent quickly cures any tempered Garleans they find), or turned into Blasphemies when the Final Days arrived in Garlemald, with only a handful of civilian and military survivors led by Julus and the remnants of the First Legion, and the rest is scattered across Hydaelyn wary about the reports they've heard about what happened in the capital as fake news or disinformation. They simply would spurn any offers by Eorzea to help them rebuild.

They will rebuild, but on their own terms, by their own hand.

There is also a technical reason, which is why the Ishgardian Restoration and the restoration of the Doman Enclave both only featured instanced areas with the 'main' zones remaining ruined. As it is just too technically demanding to be able to phase the appearence of the whole zone to reflect differing points of completion for those who haven't reached that point in the story. It's an 'all or nothing' approach.

So Garlemald will still remain lying in state in it's black ashen shroud, and Ishgard will retain the damage inflicted by the Dravanian Horde. It's pragmatic for SE to do so.

Then what for lifestyle content do you and Arrius think we might get in 8.0?

One of my biggest gripes with the story was Garlemald getting sacked off camera. That said I don't think you could rebuild it, cause it's not something you can just paint over and instance the appearance of like Living Memory. The geometry would be too different. It would have to be a separate new zone.

I would like to see more of Ilsabard though. Surely it can't remain shrouded in clouds on the world map forever, right? ...Right?

Garlemald didn't get the ending it deserved. But I kinda think, it's too late to go back there now.
While I would love another restoration zone I don't know how I'd feel about Garlemald being it...

There's more to Garlemald than what we've seen. Apparently there's far more north of the zone.

However, as mentioned, the Garleans are too proud to except outside help. This is a group of people that were shunned by the other races due to the inability to manipulate aether and forced to live in a cold wasteland. They made do with what they had to build Garlemald, and they'll do it again.

At most I'm hoping in 7.4 they actually touch base with the Garleans again because literally even if they were considered the 'big bad' for a while, I think it's worth denoting that we didn't get much for Garlemald in Endwalker at all aside from a peek into their political system in post-patch. The Northern Reaches are of course still a place to go, but I'm not sure how we'd even get there.

I was honestly expecting it to be the crafter/gatherer content for Dawntrail. It would have made perfect sense. We have Alisae and Alphinaud there! But instead, we got an asset flip of the moon, I guess.

This is a misconception i hear all the time "too proud for their own good to accept outside aid" this is not true they were indoctrinated and taught to fear the world outside their little bubble an treat them as inferior because it would make them easier to manipulate and control.
but not every garlean is like this though Lucia for example who was a spy changed after meeting Aymeric an even defended the Vanu from Varis who was emperor then.
and the popularis party strongly advocated for peace among those they invaded which fell in line with Hades' vision on treating those they took over not as slaves but as comrades and valuable assets.
Gaius even followed this ideology he treated those he conquered fairly but obvious those indoctrinated did view this as weakness thus sticking to their superiority complex and treated people lesser even though their teachings teach tolerance lol.

but going thru the history of the garlean people we are told they were nomads, that they were chased out of every place the sought refuge simply because their ancestors did some crazy thing an the harsh north was the only place they could find peace but even then they struggled to survive an turned to making pacts with voidsent to defend themselves until Emet-selch took over the body of a visionary who later become the first Emperor of Garlemald and lead people to allagan ruins to create Magitek an then later acquired Ceruleum as a fuel source. and they did it all on their own an prospered for it but their lands was still very much infertile an resources were scarce an this is why they expanded their reach to their neighbor's lands it was for their survival they could've done so without violence though yes by exchanging their magitek and ceruleum for goods an resources eorzea greatly profited off of airships which Cid introduced and ul'dah in particular found good use for ceruleum but then this wouldn't have helped the Ascian's grand plan to push conflicts so rejoinings could ensue in the chaos that follows.

so just wanted to clarify that the Garleans are not too "prideful" to take help cause its not the case for every one of them it just a handful of them who were indoctrinated and basically fear mongering that chose not to take any aid from "savages" with whom they were taught to fear and to hate.
while the rest were pretty okay and chill with learning and extending the birth of knowledge of the outside world and using it as a benefit to strengthen relations and obtain greater advents.
and in the main story we even get the too opposing beliefs to sit down an have a discussion an be more open minded which lead to a trade deal with thavnir and also lead to the garlean's being given sanctuary among the loporitts on the moon.
so we could easily help the remaining Garlean people rebuild something resembling a home its just a matter on if the developers feel like going back to that area an allowing it to come to fruition.

The MSQ has been very explicit in showing the Garleans getting over their aversion to outside help. There would be no issue with a Garlean Resoration arc and in fact I'd be shocked if it didn't happen at some point. IMO it's a strong candidate for a new housing ward.

While I could see Garlemald restoration working in a similar manner to Ishgardian's or the Doman Enclave's, I doubt we will see a significant outdoor change. Unless SE wants to have the hostile NPCs casually strolling around restored buildings and unsuspecting citizens. Not to mention the zone would be pretty much cosmetic in nature and with less purpose to visit than before, which would pretty much be a waste of effort from the designing staff. It wouldn't be crazy to assume that returning Garlemald or Yangxia to normal will take years, meaning the changes will pretty much be sorted out on the background and after whatever definite end to FFXIV story there might be.

And, personally, we already have a cold and snowy residential district. Even with the magitek infrastructure going on, it feels overkill to me when there are many other, more distinct, options.

I would assume they would make it a separate zone like they did with Doma and Ishgard restorations. Perhaps they could have it take place in that area beyond the wall that you can never reach or interact with. When you make progress in the instanced area then that area in the actual zone could change with phasing without interfering with anyone questing there. Or they could just hand wave it away with the old "it's around the corner somewhere you can't see" trick lol.

"We already have snow" is pretty flimsy reasoning to exclude Garlemald. By that logic they should have never added Shirogane since it's sunny and has a beach like the Mist.

Garlemald as a nation got exactly the treatment it deserved in the story. Personally it feels premature for any restoration project to be underway. I hope it wallows in ruin for a while longer and I hope we're not involved in any rebuilding that follows.

i honestly always hoped the garleans would be one of the society quests. it made sense they would choose to do it themselves.
I expected eulmore to be the next crafting zone.

since both of those trains have passed by im not entirely sure how they could incorporate them now.
