Feedback on the New Relic Step & future Content

Hello FFXIV community and Dev team!

First, I want to express my appreciation for the continued development of the relic content. It’s clear that the systems are in place for something truly engaging, and I believe you're heading the right direction but there needs to be a few adjustments.

At present, the role of Occult Crescent (OC) feels somewhat limited Outside of leveling “phantom jobs” or farming specific rewards such as treasures and carrots, OC doesn’t feel as integrated into the relic process as it could be. Aether Array acquisition should have been tied more closely to OC FATEs to encourage players to remain active in the zone and increased its long-term relevance.

Currently, roulette's remain a functional method of progression, but they don’t provide the same sense of investment or thematic connection as participating directly in OC. In comparison, past relic steps like the ones from SB/ShB had a broader variety of activities within their battle field zones, creating a stronger sense of accomplishment, community and progression.

I recognize that player feedback can often come from multiple perspectives, and balancing between casual and dedicated hardcore players is always a challenge. However, in this case, it feels like opportunities were left on the table that could have enriched the player experience across the board.

With that said, I’d like to kindly suggest:

Expanding relic acquisition options beyond tomestone grinding.
I enjoy the Tomestone grinding and should remain an option, However we should have other ways to obtain the relic, like continued gathering of Aether Arrays and exchange for materials for the relics.

Increasing the activities in Occult Crescent, especially via FATEs and other zone-specific activities.

Considering the return of mechanics similar to the ARR relic books, which encouraged diverse gameplay while remaining rewarding.

The first patrts were fine and the I got to the forced dungeon running and balked. I would not of completed all the first parts had I know about dungeons and trials..done with ye.

The step in itself is fine, the aetherpool values gained for certain duties are EXTREMELY skewed though, makes absolutely no sense.

I really enjoy this relic step. It's got everything that I've wanted and is engaging with the game.

Same! Spamming Duty roulettes keeps me heckin busy lol almost done with alliance part then moving clockwise from there.

My feedback on the glows to Mr Naoki Yoshida and Dev team: second stage glow for SMN/SCH is a disappointment i had to glam over it with other crafted trial glow weapons/endwalker relics (second and final stage) while the rest of the phantom weapon second stage glows looked good for other jobs.

OMG no, no, and hell F'n no! Are you serious?!? The ARR books are by far THE WORST Relic step ever in any relic questline. They are tedious, obnoxious, and just plain awful. I have all my HW Relics, all but two SB relics, all my ShB relics, all my EW relics ... but for ARR, I've still only completed 6 of 10 because I'm stuck on that horrible, awful, tedious, mind-numbing, want to kill myself stage of relic books. F the books. Don't every bring back the books.

I'm fine with the rest of what you said.

I do like shadowbringer relic because it gave us two choice if I recalled. Shadowbringer was only a quest then get tomestone they skip expolartion zone. I do like to have choices stuff to do my suggest is to do fate in Shadowbringer areas

The daily bonus being tied to the duty you get is perhaps the stupidest idea I've seen in a long, long time. Every single time I get ST, or LotA in a roulette, it starts with 6-7 people immediately dropping. They had to have forseen this being an issue. I cannot believe they launched this step, with a system like this in place. Unbelieveable.

Just make the daily bonus a flat 500-600 and call it a day. The way it is now, I'm tempted to drop duty when I get those, because I miss out on a bunch of aether through no fault of my own.

Personally, I like what they've been doing with the relic so far, but not making the aether recieved from roulettes a flat rate is a bad idea. Especially since the aether recieved from level 50 duties is MINISCULE compared to level 100 duties and level 90 High Level dungeons

EDIT: Having completed the aetherwell, I can now say this was not that bad all things considered without going too much into detail.

The daily bonuses are flat, and based on the roulette. They're also set in such a way that you would complete all 4 wells in 13 days, regardless of the duty that you get, on average.
High level gives 376, Trial gives 614, Raid gives 614, and Alliance Raid gives 101. While I think the Alliance Raid daily bonus should have been without the Lv50 raids considered, overall the system is fine. It's not meant to be spammed

The Alliance Raid roulette daily bonus is set as low as it is because the Lv.50 raids weren't considered in isolation.

The base aether for each instance is based on some expected, average completion time. The daily bonus for the roulettes is set so that each roulette, on average, yields 700-800 aether.

The problem with the Alliance Raid roulette is that the average completion time varies wildly depending on which instance you get, with the Crystal Tower series being unusually fast. The daily bonus is set as if you usually get any other alliance raid series.

And that's the problem. We do not have an equal chance of getting the higher level raids, and it results in lower than expected aether because you're almost always getting the lowest aether options. The daily bonus should have been made with the assumption that the Lv50 raids were not worth any aether, so that even if you were getting them every time you'd still finish at roughly the same time as the other roulettes

What's fun about spamming roulettes for days on end with no other option to complete the weapons like in other expansions?

I've done about 75% of the pools since coming back a few days ago and 90% of the content I'm getting is 60 and under. It's extremely tedious and boring. Yes, I appreciate and understand it's a roulette but that also implies a bit of a variety - that's just not the case. Adding iLevel checks to things like Alliance Raids does nothing when all someone has unclocked is CT because there's no incentive, requirement or directive to unlock anything else.

Engagement HIGH, Enjoyment LOW.
