LOL. Is this sustainable? I am really curious how the game will look like in a year at this rate. I am already seeing empty large house plots in Excalibur, a Legacy server wherein the only chance you ever had was with new wards.

It is like xenosys says " they have alienated every type of player from the game".
We even get Silksong before 8.0.
I was not sure if that would happen.
LOOOOOOOL
You know things are bad when "We're getting GTA6 before..." is used as a metric,.
So...?
We're getting an expansion the same amount of time we always get an expansion, 3 years after the last one landed, so why the surprise?
But wouldn't we get GTA6 before 8.0 even with the old patch cycle of 3 months that people wish for so much?
well I mean it gives them time to add tardus housing.
and fine tune beast master so we'll have to wait and see what happens
hopefully I'll see some of you guys at the fanfest maybe.
If 8.0 comes at the beginning of 2027 then it would be a two and half year interval just like between ShB EW and DT.
ARR: Aug 27, 2013
Heavensward: June 23, 2015
Stormblood: June 20, 2017
Shadowbringers: July 2, 2019
Endwalker: Dec 7, 2021
Dawntrail: July 2, 2024
It's only another 3 months, and you're lying to yourself if you're not going to wait.
We're going to get FF7 part 3 before 8.0
Will we get Half-life 3 before 8.0? /ponder
It could be that maybe they've heard all the negative feedback about FF14 and Dawntrail and are doing some big overhauls for 8.0 to hopefully improve the state of the game and not just follow the same stale format they've done for every past expansion while trimming down what little remains of the fat.
Or maybe nothing will change and it's just a sign of even longer and longer patch cycles with very little content because the high-ups continue to slash FF14's budget to fund other failed projects.
I'm not saying that. It's not even directly related to the root of the issue.
They really can't let people linger in a bad expansion just with the promise "Look Forward To It" that everything will be good in 8.0.
They can take as long as they need to release a good product, however by not doing anything with the present, they lose the trust that people will wait. They had this trust before, and an expansion like Shadowbringers was really good, even with all the logistic chaos caused by Covid.
We know literally nothing about what is to come in 8.0, not even the jobs - allegedly the expansion's highlight. And here I'm not asking for a concrete preview showcasing stuff, no, but more like a concept talk. We'll probably get that by the JP Fanfest, with actual details only with the Media Tour. Something 1.5 years from now.
Yep even on my server, there have been 10 larges abandoned and plenty of mediums. Just shows how many people were afk / offline when demolition wasn't working. Now its freeing up largely.
Such a master bait post
This is much more concerning than you might imagine, because I've seen several proposed designs on this forum (and I believe there's one I made myself, if not here then on Reddit), which brings the lost actions system into the open world by taming beasts for skills and spells, and re-taming beasts to replenish the counter.
But why would it imply something concerning? Because that means the battle designers absolutely have no creativity or ideas on what to do outside the 2-min bursts meta.
But the only reason people gave Shadowbringers "good trust" was because of it's story. Everything you might be disappointed about FFXIV now can be traced back to Shadowbringers, Endwalker and Dawntrail just doubled down on it's structure because they think "that's what works".
This isn't as bad an expansion as you guys make it to be, especially post-patch, and they are adhering to their schedule. You're gonna hear about the new expansion after 7.4 like any other expansion that came before it, just be patient lol.
Will it really come in 2027? :o i’ll be old then, lol….
Oh, read on reddit that most likely they’re gonna announce the next expansion release at japan fanfest october 31st, and blabla atleast that info made the people on reddit think 8.0 is coming in 2026. But who knows, i hope tho.
Do you refer to this?
"For patch 7.5 the new limited job Beastmaster is going to be implemented, and also the new ultimate raid. Because of this, it is extremely hard on the development team - the battle team working on the development is really at a loss!"
It just means they are overwhelmed that's all lol.
We'll get a better idea during NA as it'll give us a timeframe (Winter 2026/Winter 2027/etc.,). In the most recent lodestone post (the mod one) he mentioned the following: "(And one more thing: for those wondering what comes after the Japan Fan Fest...while I can't give any details just yet, rest assured you won't have to wait long.)"
Seems he was made aware of people doomposting in the forums of a Summer 2027 release, and he made sure to clarify as vaguely as possible that isn't the case as the announcement of the date/timeframe has always been reserved for fanfest.
How and why is this a thread? Expansions have the same two year life cycles all the time.
In the time between Silksong announcement and release we got Shadowbringers Endwalker -and- Dawntrail tho. That game should've come out three years ago.
We have been waiting for GTA VI since 2013, the year when ARR released. So I’m not sure what’s so special about GTA VI releasing before 8.0 considering that we already got 5 expansions in the time between GTA V and GTA VI.
And this is a bad thing how? GTA 6 will have people playing for a year anyway, maybe more
Always interesting how clearly you can weed out delusional people on this forum.
People don't want to wait for mediocrity, why are you not understanding it?
Not saying everything about FF14 is bad, but by now surely the majority is. They keep adding layer over layer of something that will make the layer before in unimportant. How about that Island Sanctuary? I wouldn't hold it against if you if you didn't remember what it was because its gotten like 1 up date and talks about it died down. Waiting time is an issue with ff14 because they always make excuses on how long they need and why.
In the recent interview "I hope players don't forget we are people too.", well ofc devs are people but what are they doing if a 4 month patch cycle for improvements can't be uphold? They got all that time and all they do is a half assed cosmic exploration system and Eurbozja that sounds fun and good on paper but doesn't really work out in practice?
Quantity wise you're getting the exact amount of content you get on every expansion. The extra weeks was so the devs didn't burn themselves out.
My take is that they took that decision for extra time because FFXIV was obviously burning out talent out of CBU3, probably relates more with the decaying quality of the game than anything else IMO.
No, to be honest, from what I said on my earlier post the reason for the state of the game feels more complicated than a couple of weeks more between patches and devs sitting on their asses doing nothing. It takes time to design fights,, music, the MSQ and all of that and they're on a really tight schedule to make it all happen.
Wanting a complete rework of FFXIV , like a big rehaul , but also for it to be released immediately is kind of delusional. It'll probably take slow steps, better hiring and managing for the game to improve.
World of Warcraft suffered through 6 years of mediocrity before it recovered, if you look at the reason why, especially around the controversy they faced, it was that they were mismanaging and bleeding out talent like crazy (some of the mismanaging being outright violent), while not as extreme I think it's the same case for this game.
"Whirlwind pace"
Per Yoshi P:
(And one more thing: for those wondering what comes after the Japan Fan Fest...while I can't give any details just yet, rest assured you won't have to wait long.)
They felt the heat folks. Obviously, they can't release it before fan fest is done so I do think this is the best they could do.
This thread's mission is complete.
I hated that island so much but some of the glams/rewards were nice, I just wish it was more engaging instead of a visit once a week to reset things piece of content. I'm fine with them not adding updates to it, what would even been the point, I'm sure the resources can be used to improve things in OC and CE. I have my gripes with certain aspects of the game but I've been enjoying myself with a lot of the recent content. Sorry if that makes me delulu but that's a you issue. I don't want a rushed expansion so I don't mind waiting, I'll just play GTA6 if I get bored during a content lull. :)
I'll say it, GTA6 looks like it's going to be the DT of GTA games. I'm still shocked that the VERY early rumors about the story being a bonnnie and clyde story where the guy is a non-antifa member and you play primarily as a colored girlboss type of character. That and the fact that the head writer and a lot of talent left Rockstar earlyish in development, AND the fact it's being pushed back doesn't inspire me with much hope. Oh well, my backlog never fails to entertain me~!
