Is it rigged or am I just unlucky?
I've ran the dungeon about 30-40 times, because I want the Fending Chest piece, I have every other piece in the Fending set, but it's never dropped.
Does it even exist?

Unlucky. I've seen the tank and healer sets drop more often than maiming.
This is why the Korean devs asked about getting some kind of currency or exchange system for patch dungeons, they then got promptly told to go pound sand by the jp devs.
They want arbitrary grind like this because it extends content lifespan.
Well, I guess complaining on the forum did help.
It dropped 2 runs after I posted.
well, its a 1 in 14 drop from the final boss chest
Non-leveling dungeons are always rigged when there's a specific piece you want XD
I remember back in Endwalker, I was farming the Qitana Ravel for the scouting headpice, IIRC with trusts. When I FINALLY got the item at the last boss, it was about the 45th run and suddenly I see "You already have this item" when trying to roll for it.

So it means that somehow I already had this item all along and forgot about it...
It took me three or four days solid doing just Matoya's Relict to get my chest piece for healer.
kinda amazing how someone sent yoshida screenshots with retainer inventories full with drops from a specific dungeon except the one piece he wanted... and the only thing yoshida did was a bad joke and laugh at some LL
I'd love to have an exchange system for lv. cap / patch dungeons. I remember when I farmed Grand Cosmos for the Scouting Chestpiece and it took me....
107 runs to get it.
It's just like this sometimes. I have wanted the Shadowless fending set for ages. Did countless runs of the dungeon, only ever got the boots. Ended up getting the coat from my retainer and I'm still missing the rest.
Even if you didn't already have it, Qitana is a levelling dungeon, so as long as you run it while equipped with the job/role you want gear for, you're guaranteed to have it in a maximum of 10 runs due to the free piece dropping at the end. So if you did 45 runs then you were doing it with the wrong job and making more work for yourself.
