ARR Grass Support Thread

There's been a lot of hilarious noise about the grass in the ARR (2.0) shots.

I want to address this right now, because I love the grass.

This is exactly the kind of grass that I want in an MMO. It hugs the ground and looks around in all different directions. I perceive the grass from every angle.

I believe Carl Sandburg said it best in the following poem:

Grass

Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo.
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; I cover all.

And pile them high at Gettysburg
And pile them high at Ypres and Verdun.
Shovel them under and let me work.
Two years, ten years, and the passengers ask the conductor:

That's the end of the poem. I just want you all to let the grass be the grass. Let it be what it is.

The ARR grass is the grass grown from the corpses of a thousand NPCs. It's grown from the rotten flesh of the old realm, and we are reborn in its gentle difference.

It's not the same as grass that you'll find on the Wii, because it's not the grass of children but the grass of the fallen.

Contemplate the grass as you lounge in the beautiful new world in ARR. Tread upon it as you explore the realm reborn.

No one has a sense of beauty and grandeur any longer... such a shame.

People can complain all day but no one seems to be able to look at this stuff from a different perspective.

The grass is great, and I'm supporting it.

I loves the "Grass" even though it is actually a nice blend of various types of vegetation...

In a forest there is fierce competition for light and nutrients, and grass simply requires too much water and sunlight for it to thrive in a forest. That is why you find them in plains. And gridiania, last i checked, is not a plain.

The clumping of the foilage is very natural, with the majority of it clustered in sunnier areas, and the ones clustered near trees tend to all be on the same side, (the side that isn't constantly in the trees shadow.)

Seriously, some of you people need to go on a nature hike and see what a real forest looks like. Let's just end this thread now, and stop picking on the poor flowers and bushes, please? They don't like being called grass.

That may be so but it shouldn't prevent me from expressing my opinion about the grass.

Also I think that poem about grass is ace. No one reads poetry any longer.
