Possible hint towards teleporting in 2.0

The latest Lodestone lore update is about the effects of Dalamud on the aether of Eorzea. There is a line

"Domitien hypothesizes that the disturbance could give rise to peculiarities among monstrous wildlife, as well as alter the flow of aetheric energy. This last point is especially worrisome, as the “rivers” of aether that run through the land are what make instantaneous travel between aetheryte locations possible. Should the aetheric flow become sufficiently warped, it may well prevent us from using aetherytes altogether."

This makes me think that teleporting is going to be changing in 2.0 to at least a minor extent. I'm fairly certain that we've heard Return and Teleport are staying in 2.0 and that you unlock the ability to use them through a quest so I assume the change would have to small. I suppose it could be something like teleporting is only possible from certain locations, from point A to B for example.

I hope its only available from camps or Aetherial Gates.

Was helping someone a couple weeks ago, and they didn't have a mount, and walked with them to Red Rooster Inn to get their Goobue, and I forgot how nice the walk was. Can't say the same for The Black Shroud, but to each his own :3

In the concept art PDF on 2.0, there is a drawing of a destroyed camp and the aetheryte crystal being "lifted" to the point that they have to be held down with chains. The caption says that the aetheryte crystal cannot be used. In another camp, there is a drawing of an aetherial gate somwhere outside Ishgard.

I wouldn't mind seeing Anima going away and just having teleport. Or even if they changed the rate at which Anima recharges. Honestly wouldn't mind either way.

I would imagine the one being pulled up is due to Atomos popping above , if G force 199 could tear a town apart surely it can pull an aether out the ground.

Personally, I'd like it to be a mageskill learned by one of the professions. More reasons to take the train, the airship, and the boats. However, I don't know if that would be beneficial to all.

That probably simply means that all the current aetherial pathways are going to get rearranged, thus, none of the current aetherytes and nodes will be accessible again

I would love to go back to XI's tele system. It seems (much to my detestment) that everyone has already leveled WHM anyway so I don't see why it'd be a big problem. I mean, no one would even need to have someone tele them unless it's a rare never leveled whm scenario as you could just switch job once you teleported yourself.

I enjoyed the days when WHM's were a commodity, not just an expectation.

I'm pretty sure it just means we have to unlock the camp again. I appreciate it. /explore mode on!

From what we have been told by devs

teleporting is getting 1 major change

youll lose it in 2.0......then have to quest to get it back
but otherwise, no real changes

I was wondering if maybe some of the camps might be inaccessible via teleport as soon as 1.23b. It's making me consider going around this weekend and getting the rest of the aetherial gates I'm missing.

i hope they cut the numbers of aetherites down to one for each zone in ARR

That's probably going to happen since each map as they are now are being broken down into smaller sections. Black Shroud as it is now has like a dozen gates. While it may not be exactly that many areas, I'd expect there to be 6-8 smaller areas that comprise the Black Shroud in 2.0.

I believe that travel within a region (4-5) areas will be done by train travel. (like the Pegasus from TERA, or Flight Travel in Aion.) We still may have teleport for larger distances.
