It say it all the timer is always up high in cosmic events so it would be like 2-5AM in the morning.
I think this is bad game design.
Bad game design?
Nothing new.
And? then the next try is 8 hours later.
That would be 10am- 1pm
Still not a good time, so the 3rd fate will spawn at 6 pm- 9 pm.
Prime time on EU with most players online.
I dont see any issue or bad game design.
The fate will eventually appear during the time with most player online and they probably didnt even notice the previous spawns.
While a progression fate is primed, all red alerts are on standby and cannot happen until said fate is done, which is the real design issue to my eyes.
But I do agree that the way this is designed is kinda mediocre, I'd have envisioned progression fates in something that actually lasts longer, perhaps a day or two, where everybody can contribute and have a higher chance to experience them (but past a point you cap and can move back to do your things). No need to keep respawning the fate until enough people as deemed by the designers show up, which is even more ludicrous because on some sparsely world like OCE or Dynamis, they still have to deal with the exact same thresholds anyway, which compounds the problem even further for them.
Granted, there isn't much to experience to begin with considering the absolutely... riveting gameplay of those fates.
someone posted that they automatically succeed after 4 fails or something. Cant tell if its true, but that would solve it aswell xD
Other topic but I've been failing support missions recently on Zodiark. I was there alone during the day and it doesn't scale xD
So I was just trying to get my bonus until I noticed 1 minute in that the bar was like on 5% progress and would never make it in those 4/5 minutes.
Like honestly everything in this game is fates and they still haven't figured out that it should scale to people participating?
This is the worst take I've seen lately lol. Honestly this feels more like SE boot licking but what do I know. 8am spawn and nearly midnight spawn are absolutely bad game design for EU as a whole. Its not about whether or not it can be done on a 3rd attempt. No red alerts can spawn for players while the fate is failed so people that can play and are playing, suffer. You're basically saying f people that are playing just because it'll "eventually" happen.
I think it’s more the situation of the fact that the progression fates are based on server progress, it’s not like the game is saying “okay the fates have to be at this particular inconvenient time” it’s just when the bar happens to fill
I would support them picking particular known peak times and ensuring when the bar fills that at least the next attempt if not the current attempt falls in the peak period but I don’t think this is intentional malevolent design, more so the fate is simply designed to start when the progress bar is full and that can happen at any time
I will say that OC next week will crater CE’s population so this will become harder and harder to pull off outside of peak periods but I’m not sure how to handle that as OC will suck the life out of basically every area of the game
I agree, they need to pick regional peak times in future. Otherwise it's working against the reality of players and their availability.
This. Yet another reason I wish Cosmic had started in 7.1 instead of 7.2. If all the upgrades aren’t finished before OC, it’s going to become a nightmare of failed upgrade fates and 8-hour mech ops/red alert penalties. I’m in there most of my game time right now helping out the progress meter because I’m working on a particular achievement title, but when OC hits, that’s going to be my new in-game home for the foreseeable future!
content should happen in the awake hours of servers depending on where the DC's is...
This is as bad as the housing system used to be where you would have several people clicking for days in a row on a plot, would be better for special content to have a lock down during night time for each server region in the world, otherwise you will find unhealthy solutions for people, that may end hoping for that last thing at 1am and ending waiting to 3-4am.
I do wish cosmic becomes even more unbearable to complete going forward, just so more people, even white knights in shiniest armor, open eyes on how game is in cash cow on rails state.
I was in limsa on phoenix and it was fun to see crafters going there and /shout for people to help them to do next phase fate.
Yeah this looks like how it happens. Mateus is not a low-population world and we failed a recent FATE because the bar happened to fill up at 5AM PDT on a workday. No one was coming for that. When it happened 8 hours later, we finished it easily. Everyone knew when to be online for it too, so while the lack of mech ops and Red Alerts was annoying, we had plenty of warning when the FATE would start.
I'm not sure how they could change that and still maintain the competition between worlds that Cactaur is currently winning. It's not fun to get locked out of things because the bar filled at a horrible time, but having three cracks at it at a staggered schedule over 24 hours then pity-finishing it isn't the worst solution they could have come up with. Maybe just not canceling the mech ops.
btw do u receive any rewards if u fail?
One way they could do it would be that the fate doesn't spawn the moment the progress bar fills unless there's a minimum of like 100 people per example. That way it won't spawn on dead hours.
And then have it scale by the 100's of people or something.
What would easily fix this is allowing all servers to help one another during these FATE. SE should have known just how much the content would drop off once everyone got the loot they needed.
Because acquisition of loot is as easy as it is the drop off it going to crater because there is no economical incentive to continue with the content when everything is going for pretty much nothing.
Since there is no secondary economy for the materials and the only economy is what is gained through the lunar credit shot or the Cosmic Credit roulette, people are just going to stop engaging with the content as it no longer provides them with anything rewarding.
The only people who are still engaged with this content are achievement hunters, people still farming their relics and the niche crowd that enjoy crafting and will willingly engage with this content until it's complete, not to be mistaken with the niche crafting/gatherers who got what they wanted and are no longer invested with the content.
An economy beyond loot rewards needed to be setup to keep this content alive. The ability to make gil off selling gathered materials or selling medicines/food that specifically work within Cosmic Exploration. Anything to keep players engaged but when the only thing keeping players engaged is bringing up a progress bar that has no feedback based on the different quest you do, people are just going to stop doing the content because it isn't fun to have no system in place where during X phase these missions will count more towards rewards and progress, a very basic concept that would keep the content engaging and at least inspired some people to focus knowing that by doing these missions they are providing more progress towards the next upgrade.
