my reason to raid is to get the badass looking gear BUT OMG the sets in this expansion are horrible. What the heck were they thinking? are they running out of ideas?

...I don't know. The first set was professional wrestling-inspired sets in the professional wrestling-inspired story arc. The second is basically gear from Cyberpunk 2077.
they look bad because if the gear you get in the game looked good, you wouldn't spend money in the cash shop for gear that looks slighly less bad.
Not as big a fan of the Babyface sets, but the wrestling themed gear was great, should have gotten more of that.
I actually love the Cyberpunk aesthetic so I'm eating with the glams. Except maybe the Scouting/Casting gear which isn't very cool.
I don't think it's a bad set but I do think it could have been a crafted gear and stay more in MMA style for the raids
The first set is cool. That second set isn't. The tome gear looks way better this time around.
First time I've actually been eager to farm raid sets in the entirety of the game.
I like those they fit right into my aesthetic :o
The people who think these look "good" have no idea what the game is capable of.

Op i agree didnt realize they were handing out dungeon gear. Hell vangaurd set looked way better. We went from wrestling to resistance. Also um wtf yoshi-p no glow. Kinda makes me wonder if pandaemonium was a fluke in gear design. Also how is it that ex crafted tools glow and ultimate but screw savage weapons. The weapons that are hard to get...........
Wonder how Abyssos savage weapons turned out so cool but then went to this.
Pretty sure they could have sets be literal poo armor and people would say it looks good cause they can't do anything wrong
At least the weapons look pretty sick
I like them. So what now?
Not my cup of tea for most but that's why we have glam.
I don't mind the armor much at all, some of it isn't my preference but I get the appeal. The M8S weapons on the other hand look very underwhelming. A lot of them just look like gear you can find from standard dungeons and are missing that wow factor from a savage fight imo. I did have similar feelings last tier so I'm not expecting much change for the next tier.
I agree. I'm not a fan either.
I actually quite like the tier 2 armor sets. They look like neat designs you would see in a Trails or a Xeno game. I do think Alexandria's modern aesthetics would have been better received had the NPCs been walking around in cooler gear like this from the get go, rather than the egregious hoodies with rainbow LED lights (and ofcourse, the repercussions a modern urban city being isekaied into a medieval fantasy world actually explored). While the designs are cool on their own, SE has not made them feel integrated into the FF14 setting.

I like sci-fi sets, so I'm happy with them, apart from Caster being just long coats/robes again.
I think its a matter of taste. I do like most pieces of the current set. Especially the Maiming/Fending pieces.
The first tier's sets were easily my favorite in the whole game, and I was excited to see what other wrestling inspired gear they'd give us next. I'm really not a fan of this tier's either. I'm glad for the people who enjoy them, it just wasn't what I was hoping for.
I love these glams so I'm glad there's a wide variety of options in the game.
I think their designs are alright. The only thing that keeps me from using them is how small they make our character models look. They hang really close to the character's body, like the gear has almost no mass at all, but it doesn't really look like they should be doing that. They look padded and armored in some places, and baggy in other places, but this look is contradicted by their actual size relative to the base model, which makes it seem like the character's body under the gear must be extremely skinny. A lot of Endwalker/Dawntrail-era gear has this characteristic. It seems to be getting worse over time.
I'm a big fan of the healer hat, though.
I suddenly feel like I should send a gift basket and a thankful letter to FFXIV's gear designers. At least they protect our femoral arteries...about 70% of the time.
We actually need more varieties of scifi armor.
Since we all really love Cruiserweight gear in this thread, I think you guys will enjoy my new Sage glamour. ;)

I think it looks pretty cool. But I was never a fan of that stuff, that just the savage versions are dyeable. And the colors of standart versions are not that good.
i really like the new tank + maiming chest, I wish the other pieces would look more like it
i dont like the tome stuff tho
