Very well done, now this is a mmo :)
How's this a mmo? Literally zero interaction with other players. Not only that, they've also removed materials trading, so it's even less mmo than the diadem... Just because other players are running around doesn't make it a mmo, when you don't interact with them they're indistinguishable from the bots.
It's fun to see the chat interacting, while doing your grindy work.
Gameplay elements are still stuck in 2013, though. Clicking objects? Meh.
Its a solo experience, what are you even talking about.
Generic bitter comment
Grindy work? Clicking objects? Wow I can't wait to get home and try it!
It seems it's every bit as bad as I thought it would be. The thrilling gameplay of *check notes* clicking on thing * 100000 but it's in an exciting new location! (The new exciting location is a grey wasteland). Surely that's enough?
Oh and you can't even buy the mats from the market board? Sign me the f up!
Building Beta camp was pretty tedious - a hundred people running in circles sucking up moon dust and breaking rocks hundreds of times for 30 mins. Apparently one of the Dynamis servers failed because they couldn't finish the fate in time.
I can't believe Yoshida is FORCING me to play content with a controller
It's very cute, a nice way to spend doing stuff while waiting for PF to fill.
Have not done much, but it seems cute so far.
I don't like crafting in general, but I like that there are little dailies to do and I like that my inventory isn't getting cluttered. The fates are a nice way to progress while you watch something.
Came to realize none of the rewards interested me so I'll just be sitting it out.
I gave it a solid few hours immediately on release. It's kind of fun but clearly needs a lot of hotfixes because its a shambolic mess with game breaking bugs and nonsensical scaling. The higher level gathering is very RNG dependant which makes it more of a frustration than a challenge, especially with no additional ways to regenerate GP. The base construction was boring and I know people say its just like the Firmament but even the Firmament had you carry bricks from one place to another. This was just running around whacking nodes for 40 minutes. Even if they fixed and tweaked everything, I wouldn't bother taking the content seriously because no doubt within a few days it'll be full of bots. I honestly would have preferred the core gameplay to be more aligned with the Diadem than this levequest simulator.
it's leves with a map that play against you failed 3 quest in a row because I couldn't jump slightly higher and honestly other then the lottery that a decent reward. but again why a lottery I am getting slightly feed up with the F2P experience they are shoving around
Honestly as someone who likes to craft for the sake of crafting cosmic have so far been fantastic at offering alot of weird combinations of durability, progress and quality, like only 700 quality but 23k progress needed and the item only has like 30 durability
It’s interesting from that perspective as a crafter but I agree they didn’t need the entire exploration aspect to play around with some crafted stats
Conceptually its a good start. I'd like them to take this approach and apply it to FATEs and levequests. Players need new currencies, rewards and EXP for doing max level fates and leves beyond just bicolor gemstones. We need to make leves relevant for people who are already max level, and preferably bring back group combat leves.
Hmm, fair enough. I actually like the sound of that. It makes crafting dynamic. That is a positive. I haven't really done any crafting in Cosmic yet, just lots of botany. I really wish GP was restored after each mission like CP is after each craft. I'd appreciate the challenge more if I didn't have to sit around waiting for GP in between attempts.
I'm going to be real, I don't think this content is great.
I had already tempered my expectations based on prior content thoroughly disappointing me, but I just feel like this wasn't well thought out.
- My biggest gripe is that aspects of the content don't have a cap (the moon base phases), thus have already been completed on certain servers, and so if you wanted to get involved in that you now can't. I was lucky enough to play earlier than most, but I feel sad for those that won't get the chance to participate in the larger scale community activities.
- The Cosmoliner... while (marginally) better than running around the entire map by foot, I would have just much rathered be allowed to ride my mount. Traversal is annoying and not being allowed to ride your mount there is actually mind boggling to me.
- The FATES are subpar, uncreative and don't take you out of the monotony of the regular gameplay at all (which is what I consider FATES purpose to be).
- Gathering massively suffers due to the traversal issues stated above and the fact GP does not restore after each mission.
- The gameplay itself is fine, I do like grindy gameplay, it's something that you would just flick youtube on the side and do, but that's all it is, just a glorified leve grind, that can be quite difficult without sinking a ton of money into gear (I'm still using 7.0 penta gear and having a hard time passing A rank missions) without anything noteworthy at the end to make up for it, besides cosmetic items which will reduce in price very quickly.
I hate it. I felt depressed after going there. Life draining stuff
The gameplay is tedious.
But I don't want them to abandon this project like any other in the past. FFXIV lacks casual content and this one could be one, if done right. I really hope they won't take the criticism to negative. They should rather figure out a proper gameplay loop, that is both fun and engaging.
These are the best recipes they've actually done in this regard, and you have a lot of options to pick from, so it's actually really diverse, and in a friendly way for anyone looking to actually craft and not slam their head on a keyboard wandering why the 7th Rapid Synth failed.
You guys were told this was gathering and crafting content. What exactly were you expecting in terms of action?
Yep, if you have work you won't be able to see the stages people have completed (and they finished all of the current ones within hours) and your missions won't contribute to the overall area progression either. There's new progression each week, but as reset is on a Tuesday morning (at least in Europe) it just means people who actually have responsibilities and employment will miss out again
Overall, I like it, but I have 2 complaints about the cosmic exploration :
- I'm not happy they went back on their promise that if you came later, everything wasn't already build. I logged in after work, and the 2 first stages were already done. That's a pity. How can a game that seem to target active people with very little playtime can systematically send the wrong message to this same public.
- It's the perfect content to do while you're trying to queue for thing with a long queue. But it's an instance so you cannot queue. You can either do the cosmic exploration, or queue for something while doing nothing. I hope at one point in time, SE will find a way to let you do things while you wait in a queue.
But I'm not sure how I will feel when the "novelty" wears off.
I don't like the way it cares about ilvl instead of crafting stats so even the first crafts are giving me a pop-up saying my ilvl is too low even though it isn't, so I'm basically doing them blind with no indication of difficulty.
Wait really!? So, everything is built already? The look of the overworld isn't linked to quest progression? Hot dang how did they mess that up? They got it right with the Namazu and other tribes.
Sure, the bones of the tribe's hubs are there but they don't build them up until you hit the quest to upgrade it.
I figured they would just do the same thing with Cosmic Exploration. I would get there see players running around the unfinished place until I catch up to them on my end.
Yes, honestly if you have any sort of normal life that doesn't allow you to be available in game 24/7, you will mostly miss out on the restoration stages. Same with Ishgard, sadly. Not sure why they chose to bring this particular type back rather than a restoration that lets you proceed at your own pace a la Doman.
overall meh, got some complaint :
- jobs scales poorly, i struggle less with my 90 unmeld crafters on doing missions (even criticals events) than on my 100 crafters with i720 and meleded
- rewards outside of critical are really f-ing low, i won't even talk about the pilot thing because there is almost no point going in assist on those (the buff giving you only +10 of each coins, what a joke)
- items cost an arm and a leg (see previous point)
- game not giving you a timer for when next event will appear when ishgard did this pretty well
- the bunny roulette miigame is fun but some rewards in it are... questionnable like cordials and not hi-cordials
- too much invisible walls
- gets repetitive and boring real fast (because as stated in previous point, lack of events spawning unlike ishgard)
It would be nice if they could just monitor progression over the full week, without displaying any results until reset. This way whatever contributions people can make over the week, on their own schedule, could contribute to the overall, and stats would be based on that (rather than being based on whether you can make that contribution in the first 5 or 6 hours post update, as it is now).
Well done, CBU3. Truly a remarkable design. I really love how you made it so it was limited to each world, but you didn't scale it to the world pop. So, OCE being the smallest of DCs and Bismarck being one of the two smallest pop worlds, we have yet to successfully complete base camp expansion. Also, hats off to having the second attempt be scheduled at 8am NZ time, 6am in AU, who tf knows what other times in SEA, so there are only three of us in this one instance. What a waste of time.
Glorified Leve quest simulator and everything is completely solo. There is zero co-op with other players. Can't play with friends if they're on another data center/world.Quote:
Work together with your fellow Disciples of the Hand and Land to explore the uncharted terrain of the cosmos!
You likely missed every phase if you're on a high pop world.Quote:
As exploration progresses, the appearance of your base camp will change, new areas will be unlocked, and a variety of rewards may be gained.
Unless you're on Dynamis. Then you'll never finish a phase because no one else can help your low pop world.Quote:
You may only access cosmic exploration areas and quests from your Home World.
10 out of 10 content.
Only CBU3 could release something so incredibly boring. It's honestly impressive how much these devs regurgitate the same systems ad nauseam and not change a single thing about them.
It might even be worse than Island Sanctuary.
Also, the expansion fates being on 8 hour gaps means that, for NZ, the times will be 8am, 4pm, 12am. On repeat. Take 2 hours off for AU. Job well done.
