Open the gates of Ishgard!

Since it's somewhat certain that Ishgard will be destroyed in ARR,
wouldn't it be awesome if SE would open the gates to Ishgard?

I know the model is just a hollow shell, so theres really nothing inside it. So perhaps we could just get really close up to its doors, just to get one last look.

I'm sure I'm not the only person wanting to enter Ishgard since beta, so I was kinda disappointed by the news :(

Yeah, it's a shame there is no "2-D" grass inside /wrist.

Anyway, at least they confirmed there will be instanced content within Ishgard in 2.0 (probably it's ruins, and I think I read this somewhere haha)

Here is what i am wondering. if the images labed ishgard fortress is not referencing ishguard proper but a re-imagining of the already wrecked and in game castle like structures strewn around coerthas.

Ishgard was never meant to be a city we can freely roam around in. It's not like they had this content before hand and decided last minute 'meh, too bad so sad, deal with it'.

Well, not to be that guy about it, but some people honestly need to just deal with it.

Ishgard will be in 2.0 and probably rebuilt or under process of being rebuilt. They already said there will be massive scaled content in Ishgard for 2.0^^ So there IS hope! :]

first of all: the pic states "ishgard fortress" not city, not castle, you know what else is an ishgard fortress? Dzemael Darkhold

second: Neither the Architecture nor the surroundings of the concept art looked even close to the Ishgard we have now

third: Ishgard is in the concept maps for ARR even marked as "Revitalized Ishgard" so even if it was damaged in dalamuds descend it was rebuild in the time we are in time stasis between 1.0 and ARR

and last but not least: there is a large scale PVE event planned for ishgard involving the dragon war

people need to calm down and look at the facts we already have before flipping out over new information that gets misinterpreted

If something bothers someone, let's talk about it. Facilitate discussion to reach a reasonable response, either from the plaintive or square. I mean, that's what these forums where made for. So square can learn what bothers people and what they like.

Every time I see someone use a stock response to an issue to protect square or their personal satisfaction with the game, I get a little disappointed. It doesn't bother you so it shouldn't bother everyone else? Come on. Some things may be a non issue to you, but that doesn't mean you should get so upset with people trying to help the game. If you have an issue with what someone says, read it over and discuss it with them. Don't just throw out a standard "get over it". If they respond poorly to that, then it might not be a discussion worth having, then you can just walk away.

Ishgardian fortress ≠ Ishgard.

Yoshi has stated in a past interview (back when 2.0 was first unveiled) that he wants to make the opening of Ishgard part of a large scale event, but the current servers don't support enough characters/enemies onscreen at one time. Because of this, he plans on opening Ishgard shortly after the launch of 2.0.

So yeah, I'm willing to bet the city proper isn't destroyed at all.

They should open Ishgard..let everyone inside..and then Dalamud actually falls and crushes Ishgard and everyone inside. No Return, no GM removal, you stay smooshed until the 2.0 servers get launched.
