A recolored umbrella & Prisms?
OH BOY, SE REALLY SPOILING US THIS TIME!
Zero effort, This is A.I Slop level of Recycling.
While the parasol is cute, I was disappointed in the lack of housing furnishings, that's two events in row that didn't have any housing furnishings when they usually do.
I did enjoy seeing Alpha and Omega, they look cute with their parasol :3

Better than the gender nuetral outfit lol
I see why it's only the umbrella now, These dirty buggers put the old event stuff on cash shop.
Smh
That recycled umbrella is a joke compared to past Hatching-tide rewards.
Just a little reminder — here’s what we got before:

This is the world famous customer friendliness of the Japanese companies.
- We get a currency that we can earn in a new questline with a dungeon to farm. Who we use to get all the old stuff from the previous years!
- We get a full new set, mount, emote, new housing items, new recipes for crafting and more!
- And not a single item is added to the cash shop, because we pay already enough money for there subscription!
Oh wait, its Square Enix, never mind! We get a reskin with 0,1% effort and more stuff to pay in the item shop! YEAH... what how much they love us! Not!
Not even many NPCs standing around in all of Gridania, depending on your progress in the game. I miss the time where one could run around and guess who is hidden behind the chicken or bunny costumes, based on what they're saying. Especially during hatching-tide it felt a little bit like an egg hunt in its own. Now we have, like, three pairs or so, standing all right in front of the area just to make sure nobody is even a little bit slightly inconvenienced by having to walk three more steps.
I get that it takes some effort to create a whole event dungeon with it's own mechanic like for All Saint's Wake a few years back, but come on, not even a bunch of NPCs with speech bubbles, based on a checklist in the back end programming? That's really not that much to ask, nor doing a FATE or so, like with the bunnies or the egg collecting. I'm staying out of the discussion what reward may or may not be nice, considering these events are zero effort right now, but I'm asking for the events to be fun again, something to look forward to. Something that's more than "talk to three people in close proximity to the event area".
Some people do unironically believe this even when Nintendo is right there as the stellar example of virtually everything that is wrong with modern gaming (and someone is going to mention "at least they don't put P2W microtransactions in" but lol they clearly don't know about games like MK Tour).
I like the parasol, but the vendor should have past rewards for sale if we were around for them.
lol
lmao, even
They've given up in the creativity department. If you don't believe me, look at the armor as of late.
It's clear they have given up.
Not sure if srs but FFXIV always had alternated event rewards last time we got an outfit for Little Ladies' Day, so for Easter, we have the parasol.
I sure hope it doesn't involve sob story again like the ladies day we've just got
As much as I agree that we should get better at this point what do we expect? do we actually expect any effort put into these events?
FF14 events aren't really "events" it's just a small fetch quest with a glam reward if your lucky lol.
I'd rather they just skip this one entirely. The eggs scattered all over the starting cities look absolutely ridiculous.
It was the same with little ladies day, They've recycled content way too much.
I'd rather see unique stuff like "Beast Tribe Attack" or "Bandit Incursion" or something . . You can't tell me people don't try to usurp power when security is lax.
During all of Endwalker nobody tried to seize power? Far as we know most of the allied forces are still doing relief efforts, So the bulk is not home. Perfect time to run events inside of Cities, Give players ultra rare stuff that WILL NOT go on mogstation or be rerun.
Scions are the main reason why most of the revolts have failed, None of them are in Eorzea (The Mainland) right now . . You really think nobody is keeping tabs on them? Cmon SE.
I don't know anyone who resubs for a parasol, Like . . Really SE? AN UMBRELLA? Not even an unique one either . .

I was really torn. Best part of the quest hands down.
I'd rather have just gotten a mail saying, "A mysterious visitor has left you some chocolates" and it be something chocolate with 3% exp boost or something than this whole thing.
Heck add it to botany loot table requiring a level 1 botanist and only able to own one.
You have to go out of your way to be so bad at this point, its not even incompetance.
Events have been lackluster, where are the gameplay parts?
I for one welcome making fewer seasonal events rewards. Less FoMo garbage if you ask me
The chicken hunt fate event that year was actualy fun and funny...
Just more content being made for slopstation first
Well, there used to be more to do, so I don't consider it unreasonable to ask to go back to what we used to get. Doesn't have to be the full big package we got with the FF16 crossover or so, but the FATEs I played for previous hatching-tide events were nice, and I'm still slightly mad at me I wasn't around for the choir singing thing.
You can ask all you want, I doubt any feedback will be listened to.
Even the older events of fates are hardly worth calling a "event" to me, the only time I look forward to a event if the glam looks nice if theirs even one and thats rare, no even has even stood out for me, even ff16's event was sort of just decent? I guess those types of events are more interesting then nothing.
I just am not surprised anymore that events something that was already pretty low quality, has declined even further what do people really expect? for things to change? even if this feedback was heard events are like the least of the problems with this game.
That's why it feels like weaponized incompetance because we are already at the point of not expecting anything more, so they don't have to give us anything more. Many of us have been giving them the benefit of the doubt, but 8.0 will def be a big eye opener for a lot of ppl if they fail to deliver. I know it will be the make or break for me.
People complained about having to actually do gameplay elements (minimal as they were, it was still something) and engage with the game they are paying to log in to in order to receive rewards, so now we get the "talk to 3 npcs for a handful of cutscenes" formula until the end of time... Maybe at some point the devs will finally realize that literally no matter what they do for event design or rewards, people will complain, and they'll stop listening, because that's how we ended up here.
Yep, if anyone recalls the discourse when the Chaotic raid released and it turned out a new hairstyle came from there, it was an uproar. Weeks later when they released a new hairstyle on the cash shop the complaints were much smaller. I mean God forbid someone have a goal to strive for they just want to log in and get their new hairstyles by charging their credit cards.
The discourse around the P12S mount still makes me laugh to this day, even if OP was doing a bit there were plenty of people who didn't get the memo.
After all, having to actually do content and play the game (that again, you are paying to log into!) would take away from the precious time spent AFKing in Limsa or being a tourist contributing to the cesspool that is a certain world's Ul'dah shout chat..
I feel like it was partially how it was limited-time content, too. I know the lowest price the hair style was 13m, and now it's 29m, which costs more than a Medium house plot and would be over the budget of most players. Could it be cheaper in a few years? Maybe.
I do feel like new hairstyles attract more ppl than mounts after a while, I forget them, but I can always look at my character's new hair.
They really need to add previous rewards when an event happens. This is the only MMO that tries to sell you past rewards.
The thing I enjoy most out of these events is the story. Usually they're pleasant little vignettes, you feel that there was some thought put into the central theme of the quest line and how it's tied, sometimes only loosely, to the event itself. In previous years you could tell a writer put some heart into it and I always appreciated it.
The last few seasonal events have slipped in that regard but this Hatching Tide was egregious. I'd rather they skip an event if there's so inspiration or passion in the dev team for it. Please allow the creative team to focus instead on things that interest them rather than forcing them to deliver something simply because it is rote.
Well then I suppose people will just have to learn to live without it if they can't afford it/earn it, as horrifying as that may be. There's a half dozen hairstyles on the cash shop I wish I could earn in-game but if that's how people prefer to 'earn' their rewards, who am I to judge.
I'd do these without rewards. (Hell I've realised I've spent 5 years with none if the playable content rewarding me for reoeating it. Not even high end extremes.) But the event quests themselves. Back to poor. Ladies day event turned out to be an anomaly. And let's face it that was hardly amazing wow fantastic.
Square Enix. Nothing but the best will be good enough now your gonna have to pull out all the stops if you want to slow the tradjectory. Never mind turn it full around. (And in that regard I think you 'should' have at least 'some' ambition.)
