Probably Rinon. A dude who has been raiding/ doing high-end since ARR, did guides, did every content under the sun, and he says healers are boring him now. I mean, the f he expects. He is one of the very few who reached the apex. Of course, everything seems easy and boring.
Another one recently was Lucy Pyre. Unbearable, unfunny, low-effort constant ranting, but then again, it's what she usually does. When I hear her talk I wonder if my kettle finished boiling or something.
"Stand and let thing resolve" lives rent free in my head.
Stay tuned for the backlash to the backlash.
Seems to be a lot more of the videos going around. It's just the hot topic right now,
Haven't watched one since Lynx Kameli's downfall video.
I'd rather have people critiqueing the game, than not. Critique is how the game evolves, not praising the devs for no changes and spamming how you cried in a scene or "welcome to Shadowbringers" shocked face pikachu.
The devs called this on themselves, its been years since no hats and other minor QoL stuff they seemingly cant solve. If honest critique doesnt help, tossing tomatoes at them will and them losing their bank.
The FFXIV Situation is WILD
Meh I don't want to focus on ones I don't like. So I'm gonna toss in the ones I really like.
I started with MTQcapture and Mr. Happy and still watch their videos even though I don't need them for guidance anymore. They're like my FF Parents that helped me when I was a baby hatchling :3
I like Rinon, Meoni, Syndonic Scribe, Eorzean Archives, Aitherea, Wyrm Limion, Angelusdemon, Hector, Cider Spider, Larryzaur, Wheat Tea, LizArd, BeneG, Denmo, WeskAlber, Cole Eyvx, Black Mage Compendium, Eksu and Bouncy2D
And of course, Caetsu Chaiji and Littlemaiden <3
People I think are cool Arthars, Quazii and Xeno... Xeno can be a bit of an ass hat sometimes but he's a sweetie deep down. Edit - Garret and Kyle too, love those two chill knuckleheads
We've got some solid gold content creators out there.
I still like Zepla but her videos covering FF14 recently have gone from like critical to like.. depressingly dark. Which is a real shame. She doesn't need to be a cheerleader for the game but god damn I need a Xanax the way she talks about the state of the game.
Critical I can deal with. Lots of the people I listed have been critical of the game in one way or another. It's not THAT bad. (could be better obviously always better) but god damn.
He ain't wrong though. You don't need to be an apex raider to claim healers are boring. In fact, if you're casuals who never touch EX or Savage, idk how you can not calling healers boring. 99% out of time you don't heal since there's nothing to heal, so you're stuck spamming 1 button to dps, maybe add 2 ogcd while at it. How is that even fun?
Denmo is great, Rinon is alright, Fashionista (Lulu) can still sometimes make me laugh. Zepla's boring me with react content, to be completely frank. Love Pint, but releases are slow (which is fine) but yes.
Other than that, Caffeinated Dad Gaming has been going through the story, and Rath Games continues to progress in his Iron Man/Solo FFXIV challenge.
Then I like LizArd and BeneG for animations, and Meoni for Live Letter recaps.
I'm probably forgetting names, but there you go.
I rather have youtubers critique the game than some low effort forum post that whine about the MSQ is tooo hard.
They are taking others work and claim it to be their own, I wonder how often they got the consent from eg. others to post their stuff of people around in the worlds.
I don't know... might be a wild theory but maybe the game isn't just as good as it used to be, hence why people are making videos about ff14's decline.
Not to say I agree with every take content creators take but in the larger scale of it I'm glad that they're actually voicing opinions other then "game perfect" because the game clearly needs people to actually speak up about the games problems right now.
My dude, watch his video in its entirety. Him saying that healers are boring was just one of the points. Also, I have yet to see somebody who constantly complains about the simplicity of healers in this forum to get a 100% parse log (casual content included). So perhaps pressing 1 button is not that easy after all. Most people ranting about healers can barely keep their dot up, let alone score anything above grey, so, give me a break.
The best part is that ppl been saying this stuff for so long on how bad ff14 getting....guess the honeymoon phase is over. XD
Yup. I remember it all.
I remember when OG Diadem was nuked into the abyss from feedback to get Eureka and how Eureka was panned into obscurity to get Bozja and so on. I remember when players complained about how ARR was too long so they cut out a bunch of side stuff. I remember when people complained about job buff/debuff synergies. I remember when people complained about TP and aggro. I remember when people complained about cross class skills.
Is there still a ways to go on "fixing" everything? Yes. Will the list ever truly end? No. There will always be something to have feedback on, and thus there will always be ebbs and flows to community frustration and hype. The main thing, I believe, that has held the wave back until now is that "honeymoon period" and the excitement of a true, modern MMO for Final Fantasy fans. Maybe also the novelty of the job shake-ups, new content experiments, etc in each expansion HW and through SHB. Now that the devs finally feel like they've found a groove, the frustration has set in and demands that the team not "rest on their laurels," whatever that means.
Bro was literally asking for that when he elected to invoke the parse mentality with an argument. Far be it for me to say but if you're going to try and laud over a group of people or a forum with parses then your own best be pretty immaculate, otherwise things like this happen.
The proverb... There are always bigger fish in the sea is very apt right about now
I'm sorry, what? You were the one who brings up him saying healer is boring, so naturally I only commented on that. I did watch the video, assuming we're talking about the same thing since you never specify which. Literally all his points arrive at the same conclusion: current state healer is boring and monotonous unless everything goes wrong because your party fk'd up. Which we can argue is not a good job/role design.
"Give me a break", why don't *you* give me a break? Not everything in this game needs to be cleared with 100% parse log. And how is that even relevant to how fun a job is played anyway?
My biggest complaint about the content creation community is people like you, who jump from streamer to streamer demanding they bend the knee and agree with everything, who can't take anything that is a criticism, valid or not, of the game or an opinion that is different than your own and create hate threads on them, like their passion and love for the game is something to be driven out of the community JUST because they want better or do not like the game in its current state, accusing the time and effort they put into their videos as nothing more than rage and clickbait.
You know what's rage and clickbait? Your thread.
I find that content creators "critiquing" the game come in 3 flavors:
1. Actually critiquing the game and having rational, well thought out criticisms and proposes possible solutions.
2. Doesn't really care, just rage-bait for the clicks lol
3. They have made the game their entire personality and now that it has had one bad/mediocre expansion, it does not reach their unreasonable expectations and they feel betrayed and now are lashing out with a rage akin to being a jilted lover, or if Yoshi-P personally came into their house and murdered their childhood dog in front of them. You know, things that would warrant the all consuming frothing hatred on display.
So...pretty much these forums.
Parses are a bunch of BS anyway. I got an orange in the last tier of EW as WHM. What did I do differently from other runs? Far as I can tell, nothing. Just Crit more, probably.
Got a Pink on M3. How? Got the SCH book as a drop week 1 and outgeared almost every other SCH player in the game.
But even then, the metric is flawed. Who's the better healer, the SCH who dumps every Aetherflow into ED, and forces their coheal to pick up the slack? Or the SCH who spends some of their AFs on things like Indom and Soil, but has a lower parse as a result? The one that should be rewarded for 'better gameplay', is not the one that gets the shiny gold number on the funny number website.
Doesn't take Gold parses to see that there's room for improvement in a Job's kit. Doesn't require me to be a Gold on MCH to see that the job's struggling, or a Gold on BLM to say that the new 7.2 changes go against what the job has always been about gameplay-wise, or a Gold PCT to say that it's pretty weird that Hammer is so disincentivized in the rotation compared to 'press 123 more'.
Assuming you are talking about the user I assume (if it is, they've tried to pull the 'complainers don't have good enough parses to be complaining' card before), I have higher bests than them for M1-M4, I think that Healers need some adjustments, and I will keep saying that they need adjustments until they actually get some. And no, +5p to our DOT is not the 'adjustment' the role needs. I think about the adjustments the role needs, and what is feasible to implement with such a tight development schedule as they seem to run on over there, often enough for me to spend multiple hours writing on this forum about how I'd go about adjusting each of them. Funny thing is, I got more enjoyment/engagement/'fun', out of writing all of that wishful thinking about the Healers, than I have gotten from any EX roulette run as a Healer in the past... multiple years?
Oh but wait, because I don't have all Gold parses, me asking for Healer kits to be adjusted is invalidated, presumably?
It did seem like a simpler time when drama/clickbait grifters didn't infest the community. That said the forums has always been a pretty mixed bag overall.
I don't know; haven't payed attention. What I do know is that Sophia is canonically the cutest Miqo'te in the world! Sufferhymn's content is fantastic! ^^
I think Kohashi specifically elected to say "where's your 100 parses" because they think no one on these forums would have any. I showed them one of mine, I think it was a lucky week 2 reclear, and I have a few more from early clears. Got deleted (and banned) very quickly probably because he got super mad lmao.
Meanwhile they haven't even cleared a tier.
But the fact they even think 100 parses are impressive says it all. Most of those are just early lucky runs. But even getting a true rank 1 from ShB and onwards more often just involves farming high crit% runs again and again, sometimes even asking your static to sandbag for you to get a good kill time or adjusting their rotations to accomodate rDPS. It just proves that you're willing to grind. Even in SB a lot of rank 1s are padded. Honestly going for rank 1 in this day and age is not impressive. All it shows is that you're willing to waste tens to hundreds of hours on a single fight and to get a group of friends together who care enough about this to grind it out. It's fun for a tier or so but it quickly gets boring. If he was actually in a position to critique others' logs he would know all of this. (Although some people who succumbed to the parse brainrot really deluded themselves into thinking that getting a rank 1 means exceptional skill).
Actually I don't even know what this has to do with content creators but I just love jumping onto an easy self-inflicted own.
You (general you) can be a gold barser and still have no idea what you're talking about. Funny how certain discussion seem to have a high odds in drawing out certain "small d!*k (measuring)"-mentality on board.
On the topic though, I never not liked Lucy Pyre's FFXIV videos. Right amount of sass and cringe on her titles. Her sense of humor resonates with mine.
It's called documenting the fiery slow motion train wreck.
Ban hammer, any% speed run.
I don't think I've actually seen something get taken down so fast. - Surprised their comment didn't get taken down tbh, as the implication of their post was that "people are too inept to press even 2 buttons and that their opinion doesn't matter if they don't have a gold parse" (Who even unironically says that), which if I am honest is about as tame as the removed post
None, perfectly capable of making up my own mind. No need to listen to other people's opinion. They swear, scream, yell, are loud and obnoxious, just to get views. All that, just to share their opinion.
