I guess you must have really did some grinding to clear story, get all the new crafter books, gather mats & craft full ilvl 740 , clear EX trial and get wings, new minion from dungeon, minion & mount from pvp season, and 5 new TT cards. I'd think that would take a couple more hours or so!

I don't care what kind of defense you use, the fact that this content "Drop" will be over with by the majority of the players (aside from savage raid prep) in a single day and we're going to wait an entire month for the next "Drop" is not sufficient amounts of content for $12.99 per month.

Not really. Extreme trial farming could take a few days if they farm a lot, not even including prog in that. Then Savage Prep as you said. Then actually doing Savage.

Now, if you aren't interested in Extreme and Savage and don't do any social content (such as RP), and feel you aren't getting much for your subscription, then you could always resubscribe when Cosmic Exploration or the Field Operation comes out, if you are interested by either of those.

Oh no that's terrible. Good thing player count doesn't effect my personal like or dislike of a game.

I'm basically this game's biggest "doomer" by this point, and haven't even logged in for 7.2 yet (bc lolprivacy) but I think this is a bit disingenuous? Finding it hard to find data from 7.1 but it seems the patch launch peak was slightly stronger than 7.1

The question is entirely if it'll hold, but you can reasonably extract that 7.1's population size has mostly returned for 7.2 to give it a shot, meaning player goodwill overall has not quite eroded to the point of quitting for these players, even if the peak of players is significantly weaker than endwalker before it.
X.2 patches are usually a little stronger as they hold "more value" compared to X.1, so this is expected. There is no standout performance or dip at this point in time, talk to me again in a week when there is more data to go around. Because uh... people sleep, my guy :)

(with this "defense" out of the way, I still hate the dripfeed and the fact that DT patches feel light, and also the privacy thing, but I also do not like data misrepresentation.)

Why didn't you just unsub already ? You may as well only re-sub a week before start of next expansion if all you care about is MSQ.

You know that it's a work week and not everyone is capable of taking the entire week off for a video game?

12 hours if you scene skip and blitz everything. Take your time.

Regardless, OP is still right & we are still getting drip-feed content. It doesn't take a month to clear the current 1 dungeon, & 4 fights.

Wait until the weekend is over. If it is still going down then the new patch was not successful, yes. :)

It's too early to tell but a 22% drop in player activity two days after the patch really says it all about the state of this game's patch cadence.

March has 2000 more peak players than 7.1, since it's an even patch with normal raid content. But the shininess of the patch will wear off pretty quickly for anyone who doesn't enjoy Savage DDR slop, until 7.25, which is a whole 2 months later lmao.

The real test is 7.25, and honestly I don't think that will help the game that much. The core group that loves pointless FATE bumrushing are already subbed during content droughts. But we'll see.

Yeah no, Tuesday would be the peak. The weekend might get close, but it rarely exceeds the Tuesday peak. This is just based on previous trends, not conjecture.

I’m busy with work. I haven’t been even able to log in this week.

I did the raids and leveling in like 3-4 hours I guess I will do EXT this week to do but I'm not really in any rush to play ff14, Dunno I rather play other games right now ff14 doesn't really have much to look forward to.

As much as I like ff14 it's flaws have only got more large that I struggle to enjoy it as much, like the raids were cool but theirs now no reason to replay them, not like playing on healer would make the fights different or more interesting.. same goes for any other job and role.

Maybe once the game starts to embrace different experiences for different jobs the game might have some replay value but until then every patch is gonna be like 3-4 hours of content that not really have much replay value.

Of course savage will be a longer grind but even then once thats done I'm not really that invested into reclears.

Most of the folks I know have done MSQ, base raid tier, and perhaps the Ex trial, in the few brief hours we had to play. I just finished MSQ myself last night, and was hoping to hit up the Ex fight after work today.

That's the casual's level of engagement with the game.

Some folks will peace out and return in 2 weeks for Savage. Others will be back in 2 months for Occult Crescent.

I don't know how long people think Occult Crescent will last, it will certainly be fun for a while but I think we will all get bored after a while and isn't it going to updated until until 7.5 comes out.

This game really struggles right now to keep me engaged, maybe if we had consistent occult crescent like gameplay where we had a lot of stuff to do and explore the game would have more longevity

I would see how it holds up this weekend, but I don't really expect a significant increase.

7.25... I am not wholly confident will change much, and even if it does, that sort of content is the sort where you just completely switch brain off and do other things, e.g., Netflix... Eureka's slow paced design pretty much encouraged it, since you were hitting trash for a long amount of time, and then most were just... Along for the ride, e.g., AFK wherever the train is.

Bozja didn't really find that sweet spot either, train-driven nature of it pretty much has people on Netflix on a second screen.

Even if the content is healthy for the game (As it is one of the very few long-standing content types), it's still pretty bad to think the most hyped content for the expansion is likely the content where people will be more focused on Netflix etc.,

Anemos on release was boring as hell but it did have an awesome community. It felt like an actual MMO for once and reminded me of Idyllshire chat. Bozja had none of that.

The community has changed so much now that you couldn't pay me enough to experience Shades' Triangle launch day chat. Probably gonna just be a lot of faux positivity and lame memes that people have used non stop since HW. Even the community is stale now.

The community has not much to do with it. Eureka's design encouraged teamwork, while Bozja's design encourages competition. You have to race to the Fates to get a good rating and the slots for the boss fights are limited. Spawning bosses will also mean you will miss out on Fates, which overall results in less exp for you.

I was just doing Eureka again earlier this year and the community is still nice and helpfull there.

That was Eureka in general until Pyros, not the greatest content in the world, but the sense of community was great, But it at least had a nice sense of danger and wander about it..

Agree with you on the memes though, I'm sat here wondering how long it's going to take for me to hear the phrase "Is Pazuzu up"...
