"Tomescroll" and "Study" only being useable while standing seems like a massive oversight and actually ruined a huge part of my enjoyment for this patch.
The animations are already there, why not loop them?

They should at least have function parity, right? Them only being useable while standing removes any usage when sitting around and RP idling. I still have to use the half-baked macro I created years ago (that also runs out after 15 repeats).
I really hope this is just an oversight than can be rectified with a patch soon. I don't even know what to think if this was done on purpose.

They honestly should've just made the original two emotes loop rather than making two more, but I guess the options are nice to have for those that will use them

This is normal for persistent emotes and I wouldn't be surprised if the main reason they avoided making these ones persistent for so long is because they wanted people to use them while sitting.
Would be nice for them to make persistent emotes that could be used seated. I wonder how much of this is spaghetti code vs intentional design decisions? -

It's worth noting:
Looping emotes are only found in the 'special' tab.
Other than 'changepose' and 'visor' which affect your idle pose or a piece of gear respectively, none of the emotes in the Special tab are able to be used while sitting.
It's possible that this is more complicated than it seems as this could imply it has to do with the way the emote system is hard-coded.
(I do not have a specific reference for the following so take this with a grain of salt and if anyone could find one for me, I would be most grateful)
If I am remembering correctly: CBU3 have also stated in the past that they are looking into overhauling the emote system. Something they have expressed interest in doing is implementing "paired" emotes where two players interact directly. This could range from shaking hands to a smaller race being given a shoulder ride by a larger race (Nanamo sitting on Raubahn's arm emote, anyone?)
So it's not impossible that we may have to wait till such an overhaul is implemented before we can use infinitely looping emotes while sitting down. -

It's bad enough you can't use the original ones while sitting on the ground, not even being able to use the looping ones in a chair is really really irritating. But in the water is fine? lol. I hope they do overhaul the emote system and fix it.

I hardly ever come to the official forums to post, and I immediately came here looking for a thread about this because it seems like such a ridiculous oversight. Everyone wanted a persistent /read emote to be able to read idle while sitting, same for tomescroll. IS there a bug report/request thread for this yet? I feel like the sooner it is brought up the better before it fades into obscurity like many other small QoL requests.
