Bold to think an event in current year could be more than walking around a city and talking to NPCs.
The fact that these are even called events is so funny to me. I wish more people here would play any other live service game and see what an actual event looks like.
The closest thing we have to events in this game are the mogtome events. The seasonal stuff doesn't actually encourage you to do anything except log in for 5 minutes and bolt around town until you get a really situational emote that you'll use once and then forget about.
Time to post FFXI's events again for a comparison for what SE's 20-year-old MMO does for its events: https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Valentione%27s_Day_Guide
So is this a "no" to the maze this year?
IDK why but this made me snort, thanks for the giggle, lol.
They used to put effort into events now it's just a visual novel.
No. Please understand

You would think that by already having it implemented it’s not a big deal to include it. But apparently it is.
Well, this is an issue a few of us have been trying to point out for a while now, but those of us who noticed kept getting responses like "events/tribes were never too exciting". Yes, well, events and tribes were never exactly savage tier content-very observant of some of you to repeatedly keep pointing out, however, events and tribes were never this consistently dull either. Tribes yes, sometimes a quest really was just talking, but most of the other ones had you actively running out and doing something and or fighting something too. This last time however, it was 90% just talking.
Events ....the Christmas one was gorgeous! but if you get down to the core of what exactly it really was...it was just talking. They spent so much time making that big beautiful instance that unfortunatelyyy.... they forgot to give us something to actually do in it aside from take pictures. Last Valentines we got no maze either, nor did we have any notable easter doings-no chicken catching with the nets, nothing. Now we get to THIS Valentines day..again, no maze. Nothing but talking.
First you make me talk to wok lamel 52 times, now you're making me walk and talk to other strangers endlessly-all I'm saying is, I thought this was some sort of video game I was supposed to be playing. I thought I'd be pressing buttons, looking at my hotbar, getting some sort of dopamine rush. Mmmm doesnt seem to be the case! I just keep reading stuff. I log into my FFXIV book and I read it. One could mistake my gaming PC for a kindle currently, with the direction FFXIV keeps going.
Let's be more considerate of players who want to play a video game for the next holiday event, ok?
It would be nice if ALL previous event mini games came back for each of their related seasonal events. Same goes for seasonal special FATES, too.
Maybe add prizes similar to the Moogle Tomestone Event thing to further incentive players to try out these old events/FATES, since SE more than likely won't let the dev team re-release old seasonal event prizes that are now unfortunately stuck forever on the cash shop.
Ikr? They already created the mini games and special zones. The events are each once a year. Just let us do something? Where is the logic putting in all the work, show us the minigame ONCE and then hide it away?
Also this novel was kinda lame. There could have been an actual duel for the sake of the cursed roses and love and whatever. Could have been super sappy and all that jazz.
No need to put in effort if they are still collecting a paycheck. Maybe they want to move on with other projects that's all the lack of effort this expack reads....
People asking for assets that are already in the game, assets that are simply not reimplemented...
They seem to not put up the Valentione's maze minigame or the All Saints' Wake party minigames anymore because they're really, really adamant on no longer tying seasonal event rewards to a seasonal currency for some reason. I wish they'd just let them exist anyway, though. There are definitely people who'd simply do those things for fun; the amount of seasonal currency required from them in the past was trifling anyway.
I also wish they'd bring the card reading Elezen NPCs back. They included really funny and cute dialogue and cutscenes for you and your party member of choice. I think it's sad most of the modern playerbase probably missed them entirely.
It would be nice to see seasons build on each other, especially the mini-games that can add to that season vibe. I had an idea that could help give a reason to do such, all PAST seasonal items can be purchased with tokens and have a timed life. Timed life items are just a toy in your inventory that puts on a buff. So you can wear a pumpkin hat on halloween, it'll glamour over all headwear and doesn't actually "glamour" the gear so once halloween is over (or you remove / lose the buff) it'll go back to the way it was. Ideally the buffs are not timed, do not get removed on logout, but can be manually removed. Those who complete the season when it is current can use the permanent gear and also get a permanent toy (or if you buy the item on the shop you get both).
So people can decorate their houses in christmas theme/etc, allowing all players to more easily get 'season'ed up, and encouraging more uses for these mini-games. Where possible bring back quests and leave them there for players to complete (honestly hopefully ALL of them, even if some might need tweaks), when this is possible put the toy unlock in that quest (quests are completed remain completed each year).
