Outdated or Non Existant Achievment rewards

The rewards currently given for the games achievements are genuinely not enough.

I wanted to compile a good example of achievements that really just reward complete nothing burgers or leave players with massive gaps between achievements or straight up not rewarding people for getting achievements

I want to see this system improved and revamped with some of the useless items removed and replaced with better things. I really like the portraits that you get for mahjong or fishing. can we maybe invest some of these insane achievements into portraits? a title is simply not enough for the rarest achievement in the game . Some of these achievements are also unhealthy. Alpha wolf can take upwards of a full year of non stop 14 hour day grinds just to get this.

There are also no accumulative achievements in the game. like earn THIS MANY achievements. Example : earn 100, 200, 300 and so on

I’m just going to point out that achievements in general are worthless because the points don’t matter since stuff rarely gets added to the achievement shop.

Achievements are inherently flawed in this game, just simply because the token system isn't improved enough. A player going for 7,500 achievement points is rewarded no less than a player going for 21,000+ achievement points.

I do agree but the problem is twofold. Achievements have meaningless rewards, but also the actual tokens that you can exchange from achievement points are also pointless.

The rewards and titles are fine. But some of the actual achievement amounts are strange or unrealistic.

The reason we will never spend the majority of our achievement certificates is because the majority of players will not ever have the sort of playtime to get them. I believe that this is the reason they all cost a tiny 2 certificates. It replaced the veteran reward system which, itself, was replaced due to the complaint new players would eventually have no hope of achieving the rewards in a reasonable timeframe.

It is fine, and the hunt ones is very much valid from day 1 to to FFXIV 2025 and so is most PvP, if you are engaged in either thing you would know why and it would also show which parts of the game you like where as others will never ever get close to any of them.

As for slaying A Rank Hunt marks, then all levels of it count, be it ARR or DT.

Some more stuff to spend the extra tokens on would be nice.

when i finally get my hands on The alpha wolf, nobody is going to have a single clue about this or how hard this really was to get. other than a title i will have literally nothing to show for it. no portrait. no glam. no mount. the rarest achievement in the entire game, made completely redundant. I will never be able to wear another title because this will be the only way i can ever show that i earned it. and its not even about flexing i simply want to enjoy the benefits of it for the rest of my life

Having all the rewards work on all the races would be nice.
Got all the battle crowns and can't wear a single one on viera.

I miss sightseeing log titles...

I feel like this system and the grand company ranks could use a huge facelift. There's still many ranks we will probably just never get to in the GC because it seems SE has abandoned it in favor of other pursuits. You can even see them if you view your current rank!

Would be nice to have other options for companies as well like Temple Knights, Ala Mhigan Resistance, or Sekiseigumi. Just to throw out some examples lol.

Hell, the Firmament had a tease for an Ishgardian branch of the Adventurer's Guild that never went anywhere, why not build on that too?

We could have other companies, but it can't be in PvP because new players are able to do that at level 30 and would be spoiled on which companies we have allied with to the point of being able to coordinate playfighting or training (don't tell them it's all of them).

Fortunately, it's more realistic now because we are forced to freelance in PvP anyway.

That's a you problem. It seems like you live for the approval of others. Anyway, I wouldn't notice, I have titles hidden as all they do is clutter my screen and I don't use any. Rewards are for the most part just tokens and I am fine with that. A few of them I like such as the war horses from frontlines.

I nevertheless agree that some achievements are over the top and somewhat unhealthy. Like gathering 30k mats on the island, 20k hordes: it's just a pure pointless and boring grind (deep dungeons can be fun but to get 20k hordes, people just enter and exit HoH lvl 21...I know a guy who got the achievement by spending entire days entering and leaving HoH). There's no other reason to farm that many of those things other than the achievement but no one is obligated to do it either. PVP achievements, although a lot, works as a long time achievement for people who really enjoy pvp and spend a lot of time in there.

Don't worry, next achievement is to find 50,000 accursed hoards in deep dungeon lol

Imagine wanting to show off achievements in an online video game, its not like there are literal achievement portrait's for your adventure plate to facilitate you doing exactly this.

I could go for some more rewards for achievements but the main issue for me is the absurd disparity between the amount of time it takes to get all the rewards from content and the amount of time it takes to complete the achievements. If you do the Pteranodon grind, you'll have literally everything that's obtainable from the firmament by the time you're 10% done with the grind. Then you're left bashing away at rocks and crafting endlessly for another several months before you get any kind of pay off. A lot of the achievements are like this. It takes 30-60 minutes to get all of the rewards from the Fall Guys event. Then another 50-100 hours of grinding for nothing but the title.

I think it would be less painful if there were a few more rewards for content and if they took slightly longer to obtain.

If you feel as if these rewards are unfulfilling, why do you believe someone would fall into unhealthy habits for them? Achievements like these are SUPPOSED to be long-term and voluntarily, for those who are actually invested in the type of content they're from. Those who actually like or invest time into PvP will eventually get this title with time because, well, that's how achievements work.

Just because it isn't a mount or glamour doesn't mean that it's not worthwhile to someone, a title is still something that can be on your character name or adventurer plate at all times. Hell, there are groups and people that are still dedicated to getting The Necromancer because it's proof of completion of one of the games current biggest challenges, people that actually enjoy the content or challenge won't care about the exact reward as long as there's something as proof of completion, some won't even care if there's a reward at all if they feel that way either, considering an achievement itself is "proof" as well.

If anything, instead of going back to adding "better" rewards to old, in-due-time achievements that are catered to very specific groups, they need to keep continuously adding things to the actual accessible achievement shop. Despite more and more achievements being added by patch, there aren't enough purchasable rewards to serve as an incentive to even continuously grind or slowly work towards unrewarded achievements, no matter if it's a casual or hardcore player, everyone will run out of things to buy and reasons to even go back to the shop within a VERY short time of playing the game. I have over 200 achievement certificates that have NOWHERE to go or ANYTHING to be used on, not even an accumulative achievement could make up for that if the certificate I earn from it is also going to be just as useless.

I liked the ocean fishing achievements, they were quite nice.
I would not consider myself to be an achievement hunter at all though, if I happen to complete some requirements for something, then it was mostly by chance.
I suppose it would be nice if they added more frame kits/minions or something to the achievement rewards.

I already made a post explaining it's going to take a person 7 years to get the achievement.

If you think it's that unhealthy and unrealistic to do an achievement, then you could just.....not do it? Shocking thought, I know.

Achievements are just another outdated system that they released half baked and never iterated on.
