DC Travel Fees & Congestion Pricing

Help, my sweet sweet Gilgameshu is becoming way too crowded with all the DC travelers coming here to raid. Please implement a fee system to use the DC travel feature, one which incorporates congestion pricing / surge pricing during peak hours. It would help act as a gil sink and to ensure players are only traveling when they really need to.

Really, really, REALLY bad idea.

You must not live in Northern Virginia like I do where they have I-95 Express Lanes that charge that way. To drive from Springfield to Woodbridge which is about 9 miles can cost up to $44 dollars at times during rush hour. They used to be free with with the only limit is having three people or more per vehicle including trucks and motorcycles. The locals call them Lexus Lanes and I DON'T want that in this game like Basteala says.



I actually kind of miss when Dynamis was the only DC everyone could travel to. I think they should lock down all DC traveling except to Dynamis for an entire patch cycle so that it also encourages people to move and fill those world's that have thousands of mediums and hundreds of mansions still for people that want housing. Dynamis allowed and had the capacity to have everyone arrive and play together whether it's raids to rp clubbing and more.

Yes they should charge Gilga residents for having others help them. I think an added sub fee for all those on Gilga would do nicely.

A Gil fee to go to another DC?

Nah, instead of this absurd idea they should actually work on facilitating things in-game that wouldn't actually require them to leave their native DC, e.g., cross-DC PF/DF.

One result of that was the PVP scene taking a nosedive off a cliff when a lot of the Premades from other DCs rolled in and completely ruined the experience. I would care not to have to go through that again with what remaining content we have left.

how much gil would you expect it to be if you had your way
teleport fees for instance, are pretty inconsiquential though it does add up and you can get tickets to get rid of that cost entirely
but you need to be careful because if it's too much then that locks out a lot of players and causes backlash, and if it's too little then it doesn't help the problem you are describing at all

I think a fair baseline amount would be 25k gil to DC travel and 5k gil to world visit between servers on the same DC. If congestion pricing were implemented, the cost to DC travel / world visit during primetime could be doubled to 50k and 10k, respectively.

then kill RP and some raiders that are starting? good way to have a massive backlash no matter what sadly and raiding for dynamis people would legit be impossible with that dum idea

The whole point is being able to play with friends, even if you don't live on the same world. Cool that you apparently have a ton of currency to blow, but that is hardly the case for everyone. This is a terrible idea that would wreck many community events, as well as making it harder to do smaller coordinated activities.

I genuinely am not sure if I'm falling for a bait post here or what, but either way it's a terrible idea.

The real surprise is that anyone is able to even get on Gilgamesh. Cactuar's smaller but the 1 person in my static that isn't on Aether can never travel here ever.

People come to Aether servers really early in the morning and then park here for the entire week if they want to raid. Completely negates the restrictions in place.

I have never had any trouble going to Gilgamesh myself. Transport is usually immediate and any wait usually quite short.

Interesting thought process seeing as they just updated Gilgamesh to be standard and not congested.

Sounds like a Gilgamesh problem and not an Aether problem
