Do we know if apartments and fc rooms will be given any updates during these housing updates? It'd be nice if we could get more placeable slots, change the wall pillars and make make them the size of smalls when that change comes.

Hey, also curious of any updates for apartments or FC rooms.
It would be really nice, if there was an option to let others, friends or fc to also use things in your room, such as mender for repair, shop or endless journey book. Or on-table food and other things.
All furniture last patch seemed really interesting, and fitting for different sorts of rooms.
Apartments haven’t been specifically mentioned, but we are supposed to be getting an item limit increase in 7.2 or 7.3. No word on how much for each size yet.
I'm actually so annoyed that Apartments didn't get the minimalist option. I have a house. but I have apartments too. Most players with any form of housing have apartments. If anything they should've gotten those options first? It's a dumb thing to be a tipping point but I'm genuinely so confused at what Square enix is even going. It feels like they half do every update and most expansion features don't actually show up until several patches into them.
Sometimes those features take more time than the actual patch to get right, like the Beastmaster class for example I've been waiting on baited breath for it but I still understand it'll take a while before we see it. Between quest design, skill design, armor design, it'll likely be 7.2 maybe even 7.3 before we get to see it. Though it's disappointing like the prolonged wait for the housing updates (and conversely wishing to see more housing plots added with more subdivisions and housing locals).
Tinfoil hat time but I wouldn't be surprised if they're mulling over how to handle apartments because if they give them the option to change size/interiors like regular houses do, then people might not feel as inclined to be bound to their houses that have the demolition timer and subsequently their subscriptions...
(I know houses still have the advantage of having exteriors to decorate among other things, but still)
My theory is they stretch this new feature over multiple patches instead of adding it all at once so they have more "new" features they can show off in the future.
Now we can remove pillars, next patch we can change the size of houses and in the next expansion we can change the size of apartments, yay.
I vaguely remember them promising an increase to the item cap on housing in general, but I don't remember them specifying if it was just for houses or for apartments too.
Really would be the last nail in the coffin if they kept apartments at 100 but they honestly have some incentives to. Housing acts as an anchor that keeps people subbed long after they would've quit. Apartments can be kept indefinitely. You can quit XIV for six years and still have your apartment when you come back. There's no anchor effect, so outside of the hope that players might fill their apartment with mogslop furniture, there's not as large of a financial incentive to invest in apartments for players. It'll be interesting to see what they decide to do. I remain hopeful on this, personally. I think apartments will get increased caps, mainly because every player who gets an apartment might buy a cash shop furniture item to place inside of it, so there's a cynical reason to care about this element of the game. I would be surprised if it was limited to houses.
Honestly this was one of the things I was looking forward to, since I love decorating but never felt like my apartment had enough space. I'd resub just for this update, but from what I can see they're probably not gonna give it to us until like... mid to late 2025??? Sooooooo yeah.
Where is the luxury extra large apartment?
Yeah, something like this since apartments are single floor and to separate them from housing plots that are multi floors. They should offer all three sizes of the housing plots but only their basements. So a mansion apartment would have this amount of space and have an item limit of 400 imo. But then again, having this much space without fear of auto demolition ever would take away from those that sub to keep their homes and don't play anymore. Hopefully they offer larger sizes of apartments with expanded furnishing limits and also have access to the minimalist and any future designs though.

That’s one thing I’ve been wanting for awhile, especially with the interior size changes they’re planning. While some might find having a large house layout inside an apartment an appealing option, I’d much rather see apartments get their own medium and large layouts. What we have now could be a studio, medium could be a loft with two levels, and large could be a 3 level penthouse (bonus points if it includes an “outdoor” instanced balcony with a view!).
They did say I think back in EW they wanted to give apartments more space after they "solve" the housing problem. That's about the last time they talked about them. I would love a 2nd floor for them. I've also felt that more people would let go of a house or for those who don't have an apartment would get one if they gave people with an apartment the ability to crossbreed plants. It doesn't help that you can't have roommates for apartments either.
Sadly apartments are rarely ever on the devs minds when it comes to housing.
Housing is one of the parts of this game where they'll promise us more for those who have but won't address the core issue for those who don't.
Housing as it is, is just not fair. Something we've all been asking for since apartments dropped was the ability to buy larger rooms, maybe with a balcony so we can do at least some of the gardening options. I can understand why people want more slots for decorating and whatnot. I had a house once and it was nice but more was definitely something I wanted in terms of slots.
Not being able to share apartments/rooms is just wild to me. This should've been in from the beginning. Like realistically what is the design point of seperating the houses from the apartments if not to inflate demand for housing. It's just so bizarre.
But hey, it's XIV housing. The simplest fix to the majority of the issues is somehow the most difficult to implement despite it already existing
Apartments need to be better, it might have a solution to the 'instanced housing' issue but they don't even want to try it...
They could even make an entrance in wards that lead to an 'instanced housing' section but I have the tinfoil that they want people to be shackled by their houses and subs...I wouldn't give up my house even if instanced housing became a thing but I think many people would enjoy the ability to have a nice home to decorate and maybe show friends...that sounds fun..
Not really. That’s another example of where they’ve done things halfway: to not get columns we have to go with the new minimalist style (which btw still has ugly windows and no corresponding partitions plus many wallpapers just look out of place with it). Can’t have Riviera/Glade/Oasis/etc style with no columns.
If I use the minimalist style, I get no columns but I still feel obligated to cover all the walls with partitions and use precious slots and space to get a different style or because there are no matching partitions which sort of defeats the purpose of it.
Windows and columns should be optional with all styles. Changing style, not just size, should be a thing with apts too.
