They really need to merge Dynamis worlds into Aether, Primal and Crystal

I don't know if it is possible, but they need to merge the Dynamis worlds with the other DC's. Let's just be frank - Dynamis isn't thriving. It's a dead zone. Even being on the most populated world, Seraph, it feels like a place that has been long abandoned and you might run into a person every so often.

With DC travel, no one has the need to stay on the Dynamis worlds. The hope that DT would increase the population? Yeah, no. Most folks visited or created alts and have promptly left.

I feel like a sucker for coming to Seraph. The dream of finally having a medium house was too tempting. Now....I am trapped in no man's land.

That's a bit of a stretch, Seraph in the starter cities are pretty populated and active but I do agree it would be nice to break apart Dynamis and merge with the other three NA data centers. I also went to Seraph for my dream Shiro 60 mansion plot and will stay since I just data center travel if DF is taking a long time to pop. Just make sure Seraph and Kraken goes to Primal so I can have both my catgirls and Bun girl alts on the same data center :3

I dunno if merging the worlds is the solution (although I can't think of a better one at the moment), but I agree that Dynamis feels thoroughly much deader than it should be.

The only reason I haven't left for more populated pastures... and games with better developers... is the FC I found here. PF is dead aside from a FATE or map train or two during peak hours, queues are abysmal unless you only play healer.

I suppose, given enough time, Dynamis will fill up enough to be passable. But with Aether still being the go-to DC, I think it will take more time than this game has left, in my honest opinion.

For whatever reason, they don't want too many active player connections to any given data center. This is why they made a separate one, as opposed to simply making new worlds on the existing data centers.

While the other data centers may not necessarily be congested right this moment, there are times that they are and in those moments the extra world/capacity would cause problems for them.

They should have split the 3 dcs and then added worlds instead of making dynamis all new.


The best solution currently is to rearrange all of the dcs and split them evenly.

Merging comes with a lot of issues that I don't see them wanting to bother with
- People losing houses
- Two or characters having the same names, so someone has to change (Retainers too, for that matter as when I moved from Brynhildr to Malboro I had to rename my retainer)

just two I could think of off the top of my head
with housing, they could create new wards to compensate but I doubt SE would be wanting to do that or how easy of a process that is, all things considered

Regional pf & df, is all they need to do to fix a majority of the population issues with DCs.

How do you handle existing land ownership for the displaced Dynamis players?

I think folks are missing what I am saying. They've done the DC/World reorganization before. It wouldn't be that the worlds on Dynamis get merged where they disappear but the worlds get reshuffled into the other three DCs, for example, Seraph gets moved to Aether, etc. They split the current worlds on Dynamis between the other three DCs

As someone who existed on Aether before servers were removed to go to Crystal, no thank you. We don't need that sort of destabilization to come back. I'd rather my DC not constantly go down like it used to then.

But honestly they definitely jumped the gun on making Dynamis but it's too late to undo it. I don't think getting rid of it is the solution. It would just cause more issues. Part of the problem is the fact it's a self fulfilling prophecy of an issue. The same as "everyone raids on Aether". People say "Dynamis is dead, you need to DC travel if you want to do content." Causes people to leave the DC to do content, thus making the server appear more dead, then more people leave to do content, repeat. If people stopped traveling away in the first place it wouldn't be so bad.

Speak for yourself I am very happy on Dynamis.

Maybe they should open cross region DC travel from Europe and Japan to be able to visit Dynamis specifically

I think you might be misunderstanding. The two points you made are not impacted by merging, because the server just becomes a part of the DC. For example, Maduin and Seraph might go to Aether, Hali and Cuch go to Crystal, etc.

I disagree, I really like Seraph personally and it doesn’t feel empty in my opinion. I don’t have a problem with getting q’s aside from alliance and frontline and even then there are weekly runs in pf, especially if you check the Dynamis discord. It’s also not a big deal to hop to Crystal for those two. Granted, I’m not exactly sure why they added the newest 4 worlds… but I’m not complaining since I’m a housing ho/designer and got another house on Raff (which does feel empty in comparison I’m the only one in my ward) lol xD

It's just beyond frustrating that Square-Enix created this problem when they launched Dynamis WITH data center travel and it's ultimately done more harm than good, and that the only solutions are either promise after promise of a feature that has yet to materialize in any meaningful way, or requires a pay transfer which feels like rewarding them for their own blunder. I'm just so tired and feel so alone now... and if my leaving Maduin only helps to make the problem worse than so be it, I'm not obligated to keep suffering in a vain attempt to fix this mess because I made a huge mistake during character creation.

That wouldn't really work. What they need to do is break all the DCs and redistribute the servers evenly.

Personally, I willingly transferred into Dynamis when it launched, I don't have a house, I used to have one, but after getting it I really didn't see a point in it, so I intentionally let it be demolished, someone else could have the plot if they wanted, and I don't feel my que times are that bad, they used to be significantly worse to be sure, but now? it's usually 14-20 minutes as a DPS, I had about the same que times back in Primal, so it doesn't come off as Dynamis being that much worse off anymore in that front, I see a decent amount of people in cities, or in Limsa and Solution Nine at least, I don't go to other cities, I am in a fairly active FC, we have FC events regularly and the FC chat is always active on all but the wee hours of the night, the overworld is very dead, but that was also something I experienced in other DCs, and it's a known game-wide issue.

All-in-all, I am not really unhappy with Dynamis, I am not sure I am happy with it, but I don't feel any worse than when I used to be in Hyperion, and I am not entirely sure what being "happy" with my DC would be to begin with, there are some elements that it could be doing better, but I feel the ways the DC has improved over its short existence.

This DC has never had the population to justify its existence. It was likely opened as a mistaken assumption that the WoW exodus player boom would continue (Which it did not). It would have been better for everyone had the new worlds just been added to existing data centres.

I have beef with the people on this DC. Not all of them naturally, but I find this DC has the most poorly behaved players of any DC. Almost every instance I've had to kick someone for anything other than going offline, it's a Dynamis player throwing a tempertantrum, or deliberately refusing to play their role appropriately. Some people lack the ability to reflect upon why exactly they needed a "Fresh restart" in the first place, or to make any changes to their behaviour before they came here. So maybe its best for us who play on the old data centres if they keep to themselves.

This is a really, really, really dumb suggestion, when you look back on the history of the game and see players used to call for Mateus to be merged into Balmung because Mateus was the emptiest deadest world. Now look at it.

Or when the first new EU worlds launched and players cried out at fragmenting the already thin player base. Fast forward just a few years and suddenly players are crying for new worlds because everything is congested.

Just a little bit of time all too often makes these suggestions look ridiculous in hindsight.

I was thinking the same thing.

Dynamis would've just been what Shadow for EU was. A temp DC to deal with the initial surge of players during expansion launches. As others brought up, they probably seen the Shadowbringers surge thanks to the WoW (temporary) exodus and thought the players would stay. Fairly certain between the turnaround WoW has done (most of my WoW friends who migrated have returned with latest expansion) and unless there's some major changes in development (even a casually skilled player as myself is struggling to find reasons to log in short of just doing society quests to level up jobs. Don't even bother with Roulettes since thanks to the even longer patches have 2 jobs at full tomestone gear and leery on doing Jeuno until 7.2 and new tomestone gear to make it less lethal for mistakes) I really don't see numbers climbing to justify needing four DC's for NA. As suggested, splitting the servers up and merging them into the current 3 could salvage the situation.

Only problem I see is if they announce in advance which servers go to Aether you'll see a flood of transfers to them to get to be part of the big raiding DC that's been and probably will be on lockdown until who knows when.

The context of the situation in the past is important. The game was growing pre-Endwalker because the story was good. There was content to look forwards to, patches didn't take as long to come out, and there was more to do. (Relics generally came out closer to launch, or at launch, Exploration zones, ect) that kept people playing. The devs communicated more openly with the community and Yoshi P generally seemed to be more involved. That is no longer the case anymore. The goodwill with the community they had is gone.

The reality of this game currently is that the Story turned a lot of people off, there is 4.5 months between patches that hardly add anything, we haven't had an exploration zone since ShB (Who knows when the DT one will come out with the content they keep pushing back to later patches.) and the competition is heating up. WoW wants its players back, and they're busting out the content to try lure dissatisfied XIV players back. Free to play games are constantly updating themselves every month with new content, meanwhile XIV is sitting around like a rotting carcass between its 5 month patches. I doubt that this game will ever have a popularity surge on the scale of the WoW exodus again. Consider also that they've talked about linking JP/OCE/NA/EU and I don't think that Dynamis can sustain itself, even in a long term scenario without changes being made to address the bleed off between expansions/patches. Call me pessimistic.

I doubt much of anything will be done about it, the game is bleeding players right now and SE can't even admit why.

One of the main issues with Dynamis is that it opened right after DC travel started and a lot of the initial population were players who wanted a house or a bigger house or just wanted the bonus but already had friends elsewhere. I was looking for a house there but didn’t transfer because I foresaw that issue and just waited for others to transfer to nab houses they left behind (managed to get 3: 1 personal on Primal, 1 on Aether and an fc on Primal with 2 friends).

Adding the new worlds to existing DCs back then may have been a good idea but now it’s too late as it would just create issues. What they really need to work on is regional cross DC queuing and PF. Atm the situation is the worse: part of the players can DC travel to aether, reducing the PF population elsewhere while others can’t travel. It’s still decent on Primal but it did take a hit when that happened.

They should upgrade the login servers and merge all DCs into one DC in a region. It would solve all the problems with DC travel, empty party finders etc.

No thank you. I like how small it is, and you don't have to fight over trying to get a house because there is so many open plots. My queues are about the same as they were on Crystal.

There are hundreds of houses open on Maduin. But… If I wanted to do any that couldn’t be completed with trusts, I would be waiting “Over 30 Minutes” to do it. The Marketboards are barren. No one bothers to stick around for PF. FATEs are always scaled to as easy as they can be. Duty Roulettes are never instant let alone only a few minutes wait.

So I moved to the Primal data center. Zero regrets.

According to Lucky Bancho’s last census, NA servers are very lopsided in population distribution compared to Japan’s. We don’t spread out evenly, likely because we all collectively designated certain servers/data centers for PVP or RP years before Dynamis was added. So this issue isn’t that we don’t have enough players to fill those servers up. SE even incentivized us already with fast leveling and gil.

I really don’t know if it’s a problem that can be fixed unless SE makes established players move or gives them huge incentives like they have for new characters.

Since they are working on the cross DC PF, my guess would be that they are going to keep Dynamis as is. I would imagine once they get that implemented, a lot of this becomes a non-issue since a lot of people would no longer need to leave their server to do most content, leaving the actual travel to those doing venues, map parties, etc.

It would also make those that want a house move to Dynamis easier because it won't be barren in regards to PF and such. I hope cross DC PF is implemented soon. Only Seraph, Kraken and Hali show any sort of decent populations on Dynamis.
