Series Rewards

Series 1 of the new Malmstone system ended at the start of 6.2, which was in August 2022.
We're currently in Series 7, and there is still no indication as to whether anyone will be able to get rewards from previous Series.

This would be understandable if seasonal events were one-time events that you arne't able to get the rewards for if you missed them, but as soon as the Starlight Celebration starts this year, everyone will be able to buy the Unorthodox Saint's Attire on the Mogstation.

The rewards aren't like the old Feast Ranked Rewards. They're glorified participation trophies, and several players have got to endgame and are missing out on emotes, minions, mounts, or outfits (All four of which you can get on the Mogstation if they're from previous Seasonal Events) that they really want but can't get because they came in years too late.

Frankly Im ok if series reward dont return. I mean you have 3-4 months to play pvp even if you only do it daily u will get the reward. If a person does not get it. Thats your fault not squares failt so Naw they should stay exclusive. Either frind pvp or pkay it once a day.

Again, 2022 rewards would never have been possible for someone who started in 2024 to obtain. Meanwhile, they can buy 2023 event items on the mogstation.

I'm okay with some things being unavailable.
A player doesn't need access to every trinket ever. I certainly don't have everything. I never will. That's okay!

While this is definitely a valid opinion to have on rewards that were only obtainable for a limited time, it doesn't really apply to PvP Series rewards. The promise has already been made for previous Series rewards to "eventually" be made available for purchase via token exchange, as can be seen on one of the slides of the 67th Live Letter.

This is fine for say, Irregular Tomestone rewards earrings and such.
Not for emotes that are constantly used in the MSQ's cutscenes like /determined, /spirit, /linkpearl, or /handtoheart.
Or for minions that should have been obtainable through crafting instead of being delayed for over an expansion to be added to battle passes. (Rubellite, Tourmaline, and Adamant Weapons, being that they look like the Weapons from EX trials and it was standard in ARR, HW, and SB for the minion to be crafted)
Do I think that people should have access to the Framer's Kits from these? No, even if I do personally want the Umbra Framer's Kit.

It is funny when people are advocating for FOMO content here. See, they said series rewards would come back.

So they should come back.

It doesn't hurt to fill the already irrelevant and empty Crystal shop, since we get lots in abundance.

Add rewards of previous seasons to it, make it so it has a nice gap and a big crystal cost, and that's it.

1 expansion (6 series ago, so we would be getting 6.1's items in the shop now), 5000 crystals for a framer's kit, 10000 for an emote, minion, or fashion accessory, and the full 20000 stock for a mount or outfit.
How does this sound? (reminder that apparently the series malmstone counter stops at 100 so there is a finite amount of trophy crystals you can farm per season)

...Nikke, Genshin, Street Fighter, Tekken, Overwatch, CoD, Diablo (IV?), Brawlhalla, Multiverse, PSO2 and Fortnite are all games that heavily depended on the battlepass for player retention, with PSO2 from my personal knowledge containing nearly no items that DIDN'T come out and be available later when I played back then.

Fortnite & Overwatch literally are monetized around the battlepass + shop model and I'm gonna assume so are many of the games you listed. Nikke and Genshin are Gacha games, they literally are just fancily disguised Lootbox + Battlepass games with pretty waifus paired with an acceptable story.

Final Fantasy XIV if anything is closer to PSO2 on this, in which it doesn't make sense to rerelease the tier 25 rewards after over two years have passed. PSO2's gold battlepass was also fairly easily available with Stargems and didn't exactly require money.

I also recall there being a slide being posted on the forums everytime this topic is brought up that says that tokens (Trophy Crystals) will eventually be usable to purchase items of past Series., so if someone could post that here I'd appreciate it.

Would sorta go by the tier an item was released on, i.e. Archfiend Set was Tier 25 so that would be the most expensive from Series 1. Since we are currently locked to 20000 as a cap, I suppose that would be the logical price point (since about every level gives 1000 Trophy Crystals).

Some of us hope this also means Feast rewards, because they returned rewards from the early Feast seasons but haven't gone past that. Hopefully we get lots of the previous rewards available to people still doing PvP today!

Nikke: Now has the Archive System allowing you to replay old Event Passes
Genshin: You're talking about Housing Items and Framers' Kits here, outfits from previous events were added to the shop one update after the event they were in ended
Street Fighter (6): I was literally unable to find information about this
Tekken (8): Has been out for less than a year
Overwatch: Everything prior to Season 11 is either obtainable in the shop or rotationally in other events
Diablo Immortal: Requires you to pay in the first place
Diablo IV: I was unable to find information about this
Brawlhalla: Literally reruns old passes with the same rewards and more new ones on top, you even get to keep your progress in the "Classic" passes if you had progress when they were first out
Multiversus: Everything is buyable for premium currency if it's in a Battle Pass that has fully elapsed. Legendary items if they're 2 passes ago.
PSO2: Mentioned by you
Fortnite: Any Battle Pass rewards that are older than 18 months are added to the Shop.

This. I'm happy to put in the time/kills to earn the things even if the modes themselves don't even exist anymore. I wonder how many people who earned those items originally still even play?

As comical as those check marks are. You have the evidence right there. They are slow yes, but they do eventually get around to giving us the rewards. Will it end at season 12? Who knows. The Garo event is another reoccurring reward series.

It really isn't that hard of a concept to accept since the Dev's directly said they'd do such. For someone who's done every Series to completion at current, I wish I had more things to blow my Trophy Crystals on that isn't just Materia stuff and even then I barely get much Materia from doing it. Is it really that hard for them to give us essentially Tropaios/Virtu variations of older The Feast gear, or just I dunno something like Mogtomes where there's a cycling inventory of things that aren't worth terribly much but is an alternate way to get them(Furniture Items from Dungeons, Dungeon Gear, Minions, etc).

Although it's okay for you, doesn't necessarily mean its okay for the vast majority of other players. The OP isn't asking to access every trinket ever, just the series rewards which have no reason to be FOMO in the first place. It isn't like they are earned rewards from a memorable 1 time event (unless folks consider being subscribed to the game at the correct time and clicking "register for duty" as earning).

As OP suggests, these rewards are akin to seasonal event rewards that you can easily click on the quest, skip cutscene, and viola, your reward is successfully "earned." I would also agree with you, however, if the rewards took some sort of effort to obtain and were only given out to a handful of players as the past Feast rewards were (although I think even those rewards should have been available to more players as well since the game mode was so dead and unappealing to such a vast swathe of its targeted audience)

SE should most definitely provide a means to obtain these rewards to allow that option for thise players who do wish to obtain them. I don't see any wrong in providing the option. Those who opt to get them later on can, and those players who are on your side with not being able to get them have the option to continue to not get them as they always have.

I see no negatives with this proposal. But perhaps I'm blindsided by my own bias, in which case I encourage others to help me see things differently.

The only reason I think these should be made available is because they said there would be some way to acquire them. I've got all the series rewards from the start so it doesn't affect me one way or the other, but they should stick to their word. Even if they make each reward 5K or 10K of crystals to acquire to make the grind roughly the same.

No no, I don't really think your bias is wrong here, considering they have been showing in their presentation how this was supposed to be a feature of Tokens (Trophy Crystals) in the first place. Their "eventually" is just absolutely overkill at this point, since it has been over two years since 6.1 and "nothing" returned.

They never went back and said "actually we will not do this", they also did not do anyhting about it either. Right now we have every reason to be upset because they did not actually announce this to be actually eternally limited rewards.

They should be totally added for wolfmarks and crystal trophies some day?... Even if it's a high amount, since these currencies need sinks to encourage people to PVP.

Personally as somebody who earned them all in every pass as they happened, I don't want to take any claim of deserving exclusivity in perpetuity, since gaining them was merely a grind and not skill. It's not like the Feast or Ranked CC rewards where I don't mind since the players (hopefully) deserve to keep that exclusivity. besides which; It would be nice to be able to obtain them on any potential future alts, especially the emotes and framer kit stuff. (also, i threw out a helmet by accident, which means I have glamour dresser slots I could be saving with the new set system... which I can't since these rewards can't even be reclaimed. :< )

Sorry for the tangent, felt inspired to talk about it since you mentioned it.

So, aside from Commendation Crystals, Ranked CC really has nothing unique to itself except the occasional portrait element, so it is sort of whatever.

Feast though, I have been thinking often about it and I (as someone who does own one of the sets) think it would be completely okay to rerelease Replica sets of the old Feast rewards. "Replica" being literally in the name that is and maybe making the original pieces gain a different item quality (could be Purple like relics for example) and "maybe" some sort of glow to it - that way new players could enjoy the base design of the gear sets while original owners get to keep what is special to their set.

Though if I had to say price balancing... I think we need a higher Trophy Crystal cap. Those sets "are" fairly high quality and I think a ballpark of 25000-30000 for a full set would be appropriate, given the nature of their origin.

Or alternatively - Ranked currency! Think Overwatch 2's competitive points to buy glowing/metallic weapons and are obtained for each win (small amounts) and at season end (amount relative to highest skill tier obtained).

This wont help the absolute desolation that is the Trophy Crystal shop not having a decent Trophy Crystal sink, but it WOULD make the old Feast items available to everyone at a reasonable rate without making them exclusive AND promote ranked even for metal ranks better.

I've always been baffled by the pvp reward system. Ultimates, which are much more hyped up by both the devs and the community, still have all their rewards available for those willing to put in the work to get them. Sure some might be easier or harder, due to level sync weirdness and job changes, but at the end of the day, there's nothing stopping a motivated player from getting those rewards. The same should be true for pvp rewards.

It's so strange that pvp follows the FOMO model, when it's so at odds with literally the rest of the entire game's reward structure. I'm not saying they have to be easy to get, they can make them cost a ton of wolf collars if they really want them to be a grind/hard to get, but the bottom line is that they SHOULD be available as a goal to work towards for those willing to put in the effort

I always felt SE was countering FOMO with PvP rewards through the simple expedient of making them all crap.

I'm looking forward to the pvp rewards coming back too. I missed out on the Archfiend set and have been wanting it for awhile. I'm glad they brought back the FFV and Yo'Kai events, but this set is literally the last thing I want. However, I wouldn't be opposed to them bringing back the feasts mounts too as I'm a avid mount collector lol :p

Maybe one day my trophy crystal will be usefull for something cool.
Series 7 rewards are bad.
