[Suggestion] Auto-targetting Friendly Casters
There have been many threads about targeting, and each one points to a different aspect of it which needs review or alteration. I would like to touch on the fact that when someone casts a buff on me, either direct or aoe, if I am not targeting anything, I then target the caster. I find this mechanic completely pointless, as I did in FFXI, and rather irritating during behest. I turn on enemy only targeting during behest, as I'm sure many of you do, just so I can easily move from one mob to the next with little effort. Often times I'm engaged with one beast, which usually goes down quickly, then I turn to the next and start mashing my #1 skill only to see that I can't attack that target. I then find out that my target was placed on another player as I was being cast upon between mobs, so I have to cancel, cancel, cancel, then target my mob before another aoe buff can get to me and screw up my targeting again.
Now, to the suggestion. I would ask that at the very least, when I am in enemy only targeting mode, that I am unable to automatically target someone who is casting on me. I would much rather see that functionality removed completely, but there is probably some benefit to it that I am not seeing right now. Of course, maybe there is already some way to turn it off that I haven't found. If that's the case, please let me know.
Targeting is still real bad
The one huge change they need for keyboard/mouse players:
Remove "self" from being a viable name click target. Your own "hitbox", so to speak, is massive and covers like 35% of the best real estate on the screen. To try and switch targets to something right in your face requires swiveling the PoV and clicking off to the side to avoid selecting yourself .... annoying!
