The new gear from the 7.1 dungeon is undyeable

The fact that gear released in 2024 cannot be dyed is unacceptable.

All gear from dungeons, raids, or any other source should be dyeable or have an option to be so, like with Savage raids or augmented tome pieces.

That the Paglth'an recolor wasn't dyeable was already bad, but that the Ronkan recolor, which is based on a dyeable outfit, wasn't either is simply something very hard to understand.

Please, stop this trend of releasing gear that can't be dyed!

Of course it's undyeable, that means they can reuse it once or twice.

I was actually going to make this thread! Was waiting until I did the patch buuuut...

I think it's especially ridiculous given this is the Expansion with the double dye channels, you'd think they'd want to give their players as many bits of gear to play around with huh? Guess not! Can we push back against this?

Small indie company guys! At least the fugly crafter/gatherer gear is dyeable!

I actually think the DoH/DoL gear is the most interesting I've seen this patch. Sure it's more sci-fi stuff which is meh, but they're distinctly unique models.

Completely unacceptable. I just cannot understand the thought process. Especially when they can use new gear to show off the two dye channels.
Like someone else said, can't wait for them to just reuse the set and then make it dyable.
But also, does anyone else remember when they would reuse sets but would swap the models around? So you'd at least get something new?
I really wanted to play around with the tank chest and I'm just a lil bummed, kinda looking at the dyable npc stuff now like 'thanks, I guess.'

Mount tilt? Gone.

Dungeon gear? Undyeable.

No new PvP things to buy or older stuff that people have been dying for.

At least we have more Wuk Lamat though........

i had a glam in mind with this gear, only to find out i can't do what i wanted because it's not dyeable.... needless to say i was very disappointed. it really is unacceptable to me that they keep giving us undyeable gear at all. even with the excuse that they'll reuse the gear later and give it dye channels then, usually there ends up being something different that isn't dyeable between sets when they do this. and there's no telling how long it might be before they reuse the gear again, if ever.

Imagine prioritizing DoH/DoL gear being dyeable. First dungeon set ive been excited about in years, come on.

I just think its a prime example of SE not wanting to change its course.
This is how they've been doing it. Half of EW dungeon gear also wasn't(frustratingly)dyeable.
It makes sense to us now that they have double dyes that they would make every set dyeable to make the most of it, but 14's team won't change until people really raise their voice about these things, and even then it still takes 2 years ^^"

We still don't have dyeable versions of the Saint Mocianne's Arboretum/Pharos Sirius Hard dungeon sets. Those sets were liked too, everyone and their mother wore that casting coat and still see it on occasion. Baffling how they haven't been made dyeable yet, same with Pagl'than and The Heroes' Gauntlet sets mentioned.

I could swear one of those Saint Mocianne sets got repurposed as a dyeable crafter set back in ShB. Lemme see if I can find it.

It would seem you're right, the facet sets for crafters. Though that's still insane to give the dyeable version of a combat set to crafters only.

Nah, if you see all the changes. You will notice that everything is done to streamline their jobs. Not to make the game more fun.
The game jobs are getting more and more boring. They compensate by making newer dungeons interesting for a week for two. Until ilvl creep makes them boring again.
Meanwhile older dungeons are updated so you can do them with bots.

And so are the jobs streamlined for bots as well.
Rotation based instead of decision based.

Bots are great at doing strict rotations. But bad at making decisions. Thus the ridiculous changes that make the jobs much more boring.

This is really ridiculous at this point. Very few items, if any, should ever release undyeable at this point. Can't wait to be able to dye it in 2 years when they reuse it. Or maybe it will just be a palette swap... Then we can wait an additional 2 years! I can't speak for others of course, but I'm not too sure if I'm willing to stick around long enough to see it.

Yeah this singlehandedly kills both the replayability of the dungeon and the usability of the pieces. So many colors on an undyeable piece makes it a nightmare to work with, and 95% of people are just going to use one of the many similar pieces that can be dyed.

Currently? None I'm involved with.
In the past? Well...
It's one of the reasons I quit WoW/Blizzard games "for good" years ago, early Warframe also comes to mind when Steve was in charge of things.
From what I hear both of those have since come around to listening to feedback instead of insisting they know better.

Other than that, maybe whoever was in charge of Volition's response to the community over that, err, ...controversial Saints Row reboot? Burning all bridges certainly was a novel take on community management.

All of those are western devs, though.
What we experience here is the mentality of sticking with a proven formula until things are demonstrably broken.
That in itself seems to be pretty common for SEA companies (and I could go on a rant about how that likely is why I find the newest Neptunia game so disappointing now but won't).
What strikes me as odd is the apparent continued neglect the company as a whole is showing its cash cow while burning money on ventures that seem at best questionable to my layman's eyes.

Once again crafters/gatherers keep winning and the POORS keep losing.

Sad thing is, these sets are so nice! But no ability to dye them, and of course the colors don’t match any existing dyes yet again, so it’s hard to mix and match them with other pieces.

Oh well, maybe the reskin will change the metal from gold to silver and actually be dyeable… but with the amount of reskins we’ve started getting that aren’t dyeable, I’m less than optimistic. At minimum the second version of any set should have dual dyes. But honestly, in the expansion where dual dyes are a feature, no new gear should come without it IMO.

If i were to guess, this gear will be upgradeable via the Chaotic alliance raid to ilvl 730. Those pieces will be dyeable. I'm not saying that is the correct approach, its just my guess lmao.

Yeah I find this to be disappointing. Looking back, for years, I've only ever been "ok" with raid gear being undyeable. I'm referring specifically to the gear you get from the "normal" mode 8-mans... But as time goes on, I've found this to be a rather lame incentive, if its function is indeed to get you to play the savage version.

Bumping this because the gear from the 7.2 dungeon is undyeable despite the fact that it's a recolor of dyeable Stormblood gear that can be bought with centurio seals.

Bro when did this place become the petty complaints board you got to be taking the piss.

Another bump because, once again, the dungeon gear from 7.3 is undyeable and that's three major patches in a row. It is a bit contradictory that they're improving older gear and giving them double dye channels yet newly released pieces don't follow this logic.

By the way, I noticed that there's only two dungeons in the entirety of Dawntrail that have dyeable gear: the level 93 and 97 ones.

That’s one of my biggest issues, what’s the point of even releasing new sets if they end up useless as glamour due to them being undyeable?

I was really waiting for both 7.1 dungeon gear and 7.3 dungeon gear but both ended up being undyeable.

All gear is fully dyeable on the backend, the reason they restrict it is so they can reuse the gear and make it dyeable next expansion.

Well, except for those times where it actually comes out several expansions later and still isn't dyeable (Lapis Manalis).

Oh, and those times where they never reuse the gear at all (Ivalice).

The pattern used to be undyeable new designs in the odd patches and dyeable recycled designs in the even patches, but lately (6.4, 7.2) it seems we're getting undyeable outfits in both cases.

It is kinda ridiculous now that I notice it. And three of the undyable sets are reskins of old sets, with the 95 dungeon set being particularly egregious since the original set was dyable.
