Healer Players Deserve More than Just Crumbs

I've ranted on this forum before in the past on the treatment of WHM and I'm sure we all are aware of the Healer Strike already.

But a lot of these changes in 7.1 feel SO lackluster. I just can't help but feel that healers are just never addressed past a superficial adjustment. How can Square expect people to keep going off of promises of change but never showing anything substantial?

I've already cancellled my sub despite raiding often and having a house in-game. I just don't want to be told to wait another 4 months to see healers given crumbs again. I guess we'll see in 8.0 if things can change for the better.

I don't think any of the devs play healer so they're kinda lost on what to do with it and also somehow haven't noticed how ridiculously powerful SCH is compared to SGE.

SCH and SGE are easily the two most imbalanced jobs that theoretically occupy the same niche within the party

SGE has literally zero niche because SCH is better than it at literally everything and SCH continues to have limitless value in ultimate prog through spreadlo and dissipation

It’s like they looked at SCH and took out everything that “felt bad” and didn’t realise that was everything savage and up raiders like about how strong SCH is. A SCH clone with no spreadlo, no dissipation and no expedient when all those exist on SCH is just a waste of class space

Well, SGE became the WHM of shield healers.

WHM is now an AST without cards and buffs.

They definitely have no one with any say who plays healer.
Otherwise, in the patch where they go after every spell applying their effect with a delay, they would have caught on the delay on both benediction and divine benison being forgotten.
hell you can see shield added after shadowbringer are applied instantly, whereas the early shield spells added before it apply 1-2s after they were casted.

And don't get me started on reducing the manacost when healer are at the point of using crafted hands and normal raid boots to avoid all possible piety.

you mean you aren't happy with all the healing change on tanks and we get nothing other then skill using less mp? I get it yes because I am like yay since endwalker we healers have been neglected and run through the mud and once more we are deeper into it -_- next expension they will just remove healer to have tank do the role >~>

This wouldn't even be a problem, excluding the bland homogenization but that's par for the course at this point, if SGE did higher damage. The selfish DPS to the buff equivalent. Unfortunately, SCH spanks it all over the map and back. All SGE has going for it right now is it being piss easy to play. That's it. That's it niche. When the bar is new SMN. God lord...

Throwing my hat in to agree.

Healers get crumbs and they double down on tank sustain. Clearly this is the Tank expansion

They probably thought instant cast Esuna was going to be the pinnacle of healer gameplay because clearly we need to be able to move in the 1% of encounters that require removing a single debuff. I would have been more excited for Repose to be instant since functionally that would be a lot more useful.

Esuna change is nice and so are some of the other changes, but it truly is baffling. WHO asked for these changes? Why are these the changes being made when so many other healing mains have brought up their fair share of problems with individual healer jobs and the role overall. Dawntrail is the time for them to try new things and to really make decisive changes. It's absurd to think that people will still be here after four months of being paid dust.

Not that I have been playing a healer of late but was anybody actually running out of mana?

Yeah, I remember running out of mana. Think it was back in Molten Core on my Priest back in vanilla WoW.

Not really. I only have SGE experience and I only start getting low on mana if I forget to use Lucid Dreaming off cooldown.

Even then it wasn't a massive issue because people weren't getting hurt that badly so I just throw something that uses my Addersgall stacks (normally a random single Druochole every now and then, yay for overhealing) when I'm about to cap on Addersgall stacks so I can get some extra mp to compensate for my mistake.

I can see why they've done it. If you sit there spamming your attack button and don't use Lucid then the MP drain can be noticeable but it's something you can fix by interacting with the rest of your kit.

Thank GOD I'm not the only one who got irritated by the constant loss of crit for piety since SHB. They just keep missing the mark and you know it's bad when the "BiS" gear becomes a DPS loss. Goes to show this role has just been completely forgotten about.

Loling hard at the MP changes too. Not like MP even mattered so it doesn't change anything but it still shows how clueless the team is.

So there were like 5-10 people who ran out of mana and they fixed that but wont look at the larger issues "/sigh". On the bright side we will have extra mana for our 1 nuke &/or AE.

we can only wish for better in 8.0 sadly because as long as content isn't balanced toward casual/midcore there will be no change sadly we will only be getting the dust or at one point deleted

The healer forum is completely barren these days, almost no discussion, which is as it should be considering how garb the role currently is, and how stale it is with no changes. People either just quit, move on or are on afk mode 111 in their duty. And considering that devs sh** on feedback that's not japanese (and they seem to enjoy mindless 111), nobody's doing that anymore.

We’ve all gotten tired of offering the same feedback that gets ignored

At this the extent of my contribution to the healer forum is pointing out how overpowered SCH currently is. I’m sick of offering well crafted feedback that’s lost to the void

As a dev once said You think you want it but you really dont want it. XD oh and the youtuber in question was Xeno. He brought it up anout the current status of healers and why the changes are both the player base and dev fault.

Whether the playerbase is or isn’t at fault for the feedback changes that led the healers from HW->SB->ShB has long since become irrelevant because the vast majority of visible feedback in the last 2 expansions has focused on what’s wrong with the modern healers

We don’t endlessly punish the other roles for feedback they offered 4 expansions ago so healers shouldn’t be punished either

Whether feedback was the cause, if square over corrected, both or neither stopping being relevant when EW doubled down on ShB design

Let's also remember this game is a decade old now. People who complained about healer difficulty in Heavensward have had 6 years to grow as players. Making everything easy to pickup for new people inevitably will lead to veterans being bored. Older feedback could have been perfectly reasonable but changes that happen two years later, or 4 years later, or 6 years later to address those concerns is clearly no longer relevant to those same people. The dev team could be using every single patch to try out new things but we have seen little to no creativity or vision for class design in multiple expansions for healers. Sage is the newest healer and shares 70% of it's kit with Scholar. The player base is not the core of the problem here.

Do your research before you come out of nowhere with this nonsense wtf... If it's the same streamer I'm thinking about he's got a LOT of terrible takes. Still, the few complaints from the international community came from game mechanics as a whole, and how the kits interacted with them. Multiple of which have been dumbed down to oblivion anyway. AND even then it was a minority of healers. Ie cleric stance, fairy, whm vs sch, etc...
But what's more, the healer gameplay got obliterated too, where everything's supremely stale and you spam a button 95% of the time as a healer, in most content.
So you end up with the current "healer" role.

That being said, it's true that japanese "healers" like their 111 gameplay, and since the devs only take into account japanese feedback, we're screwed. Hence the dev/player fault. Multiple of us have tried giving feedback over there since it's useless here, only to be met with disdain.

Thank you, pretty much what I was in the middle of saying, but you said it much better. I would only add that any "dev" that says that - while there is sometime s a grain of truth in that- you DON'T say it in that way- it's way too condescending, an particularly so in this game, when communication with healers has been pathetic.
