Mogle Treasure Trove The Hunt for Goetia

Really Square Enix, is this how you're trying to retain players? Of all things, the one-off event at Treasure Trove had to be Treasure Dungeons? How many players make treasure maps? How many of the players make enough per day to open a portal to a Treasure Dungeon? And in the current situation, when there's already so little going on, how many players have enough players on board to make this Treasure Dungeon? I'll start with myself. I make treasure maps ultra rarely, so when a portal opens, I have exactly 0 other players for this random portal and no, I don't feel like spending hours looking for other players. And no, I can't do these Treasure Dungeons on my own. Thanks again for nothing. How can a game producer be so ignorant that they don't realize that something like this will cost even more players? I'm rarely angry, but when I see that the next patch is going to be so bad and now this, I'm really close to the point where I say screw it, I'm going to find another game.

I used to do maps when they first came out but had others to team up with now I do not bother I also feel yet again the rewards are not great I have played years why not give older players something new....I think it is great for newer players to get things and it is how it should be but they should add something special to the mix for players like me who have everything.

The outfits from the Ruby tides should have been made dyable as they are so old >.< Why not add a nice new hairstyle or even some things for the adventure plates.

Just an observation, i started a new char a month a so back with a friend who hasnt played before... the moogle event is great but as we are still in ARR most of the dungeons only earn us 3 tomes, unless we do one of the level 50 msqs which give us 7 tomes. Surely it would be better if all the dungeons had the same amount of tomes awarded so it didnt matter if you got sastasha as a level 20 player or one of the dawntrail dungeons as a level 90... it feels like an uneven playing field for newer players.

Alone today I wasted 3 hours in Party Finder and now guess my progress .... a small hint 0/5. It is not the Treasure Maps, it is the Group and getting a Portal to open to finish the Treasure Dungeon.

You can also just solo some group maps as blue mage to finish it.

still can't read what the game is asking you, it's open a map + get a portal + complete that portal by killing the last room boss. anyone who have done maps in its life know that going to the last room is so rng heavy that's it's unlikely to happen in hundreds of maps.

You get rewarded as soon as the dungeon throws you out, regardless how far you got.

didn't old moogle tome rewards have maps with guaranteed portals?
I'm pretty sure this one does too

You can just find people to run the maps with if it can't be solo'd
I'm sure many in a similar boat would flock to the PF

Do the treasure rooms have to reach the end or does it still count even if you get thrown out?
If it doesn't, then yeah I can understand the frustration

My guess is their internal metrics showed a dropoff in players doing maps so they setup the Mog Tome event to funnel players to them.

I don't understand the issue. If you "don't have enough time," then just run Syrcus Tower a few times, that'll get you as many tomestones as the Ultimog objective, or whatever it's called.

Considering how often it comes up in alliance roulette, you can probably just do that daily and easily get enough moogle tomestones for everything of note. 7.1 is still almost a full month away.

Do you know that you don´t need to complete the dungeon? Even if you fails to beat the mobs, it still counts, beacause objective states "enter treasure dungeon 0/5"
Just dig a chest it can be lvl 60 or 70 map, which can be easily done solo. Portal spawns appears to be 50/50 for me, so a pretty high chance. Maps are easy to get and are cheap in AH :)

-Timeworn Gazelleskin Map
-Timeworn Zonureskin Map
-Timeworn Kumbhiraskin Map
-Timeworn Ophiotauroskin Map
-Timeworn Br'aaxskin Map (the current one)

Ultimog is a treasure dungeon? That's pretty cool. We'll see more people doing maps now.

The irony. It says you need to ENTER a portal, not beat the whole dungeon. The event sells level 70 maps which guarantee a portal. If you can't solo some level 70 mobs at 100 you have bigger problems to worry about.

This is a tangent, but does anyone really care about the novelty jewelry they bring out for these? They're usually barely noticeable even when they aren't hidden by hair or other gear.

I gave up on doing EXs thx to them releasing those mounts on trove. The donut earring probably the most interesting reward they got that I want.

The donut earring being the best reward for this event is.. Something alright. Given its subjective so others may not agree, but in my eyes that's how it is.

Unfortunately that's the sort of mentality that allows the game to get worse, accepting sub par content and telling people to leave the game.

Aside from the MB, anyone with a gatherer at lvl 60+ can get one map per day for free . You only need to enter a portal 4 times. It’s an easy objective accessible to everyone lvl 60+. Event is there for several weeks and there will be some PFs up too if you don’t want to make one.

Deciding not to do the Ultimog Challenge is a perfectly viable option. You do not, in fact, have to do every single Challenge presented, yet you are still able to work towards the final goal. If Treasure Maps are not your thing, there are plenty of other ways to receive Tomestones.

Do not forget that the Weekly Challenges and Minimog Challenges change each week as well. The Ultimog Challenge is a one-shot and will stay throughout the Treasure Trove until the next major update hits. You may not expect to do it immediately, but entering a Treasure Dungeon a total of five times is not difficult. There will be players qualifying for the reward without even knowing it.

sure, Mogtome events getting kinda boring in rewards. especially for long time players who already farmed all these things yet.
1 glamour for collectors, that's all.
stacking some guaranteed portal-maps is fine then.

but whining about can't doing a monthly duty, it's just ridiculous.

I do.Yes, that's why every time the event comes around.I grind to be able to afford the one hundred token item along with any others that I might desire that are being offered.

Need some help with this week's Minimog. My alt that's in Heavensward can't seem to challenge Mimidoa even though I'm well past the point in MSQ that all the guides say is necessary to unlock him. I've done his little fetch-the-fangs quest and unlocked Pharos Sirius just in case that was necessary but still no dice. Am I missing something here?
I unlocked triple triad but still needed to do the tutorial.

Honestly the Ifrit jacket from a couple of years ago is my favourite exclusive item so far. Compared to it, the jewellery is quite underwhelming.

I'm just tired of it always being novelty jewellery, for this and other reward systems. For earrings in particular, we direly need more level 1 options that can be glamoured onto the level 1 EXP-booster earrings.

As has been pointed out, and just to clarify, you only need to ENTER to earn the points.

So, if you join a treasure map group and each of you has a map, you can get 4/5 ultimog points on day 1, or easily finish that if you each had 2 maps.

For the low level folk, just ask to join a group. There are many folk out there, myself included, who will open a treasure map instance (eg. timeworn ophiotauroskin maps have a high frequency of portals, so very easy to get a portal completion) just to get the ultimog done, and who don't necessarily intend to try to beat it.
Or, just ignore that challenge, and grind out the various 1-50 dungeons and allilance raids. You'll get plenty of tomestones.

It's not a big deal, either way. Everyone will get their shiny pixel items. Let's all take a deep breath.

The donut earring reminds me of those carnival prizes that are only like 5 tickets or whatever. That tacky junk your kid brother gets because he couldn't get a hefty amount of tickets. It's up there with plastic spider rings. I don't like it, and it'd just take up space in my glam dresser, so I won't bother with it.
That being said, the whole rest of the reward shop is -- as always -- stuff that's existed for years. I feel like... unless you're really really new, you probably would've gotten this stuff by now if you actually wanted it. But looking at the actual content, it seems like it's geared towards new people. Crystal tower is once again the alliance raid. Most of the battle content is heavensward or lower, too, so I hope you like being synced down to level 60 in a game that caps at 100. They even lowered the number of tomes you get for the content; 24-man alliance raids giving 3 (the same amount as a 4man dungeon) is such a joke. What did they think, that rewarding less would keep people playing longer? You need worthwhile rewards for that. There's actually nothing in the shop that I care about. A long time ago, they put emotes that couldn't be purchased on the marketboard and were locked behind like... Eureka or whatever, and that was pretty lit. But I guess people complained, because we've never seen anything that good since.
Also, maps are terrible content. It's just trash mobs with a randomness element to it. I doze off doing maps. I'm not doing it for this event.

It's frustrating because this isn't a hard thing to get right. Widen the scope of content that gives mogtome rewards (why only one 24man set? why is it never anything at max level? why only the normal mode content), scale the rewards accordingly (something that takes more time to win should give more tomes), and then pump the shop with things people actually want (you could literally hold a poll and it'd be better than the random guesswork at play here atm). And here's a novel idea: don't drop a mid event full of mid prizes a week after putting some fire emote in the cash shop. If I didn't know any better I'd think this were a f2p game with how slowly the content rolls out, and the way all the """free""" content pales in comparison to the cash shop. Really think about it. The new item that's earnable in game is a tacky donut ring, but the newest cash shop item is an emote where you fry an egg on a skillet. This should've been swapped.

Maps are boring to do for the rewards but decently fun with friends or FC members, where the maps are just a thing to do together. At least that's my feeling on it.

Yes, this is basically what kept me doing it back in the day. But it was so hard not to burn out on it, like... from my perspective, if I wanna vibe with my buds in game, we can do that around almost any better activity really. Maps, to me at least, the substance of maps just feels like the most boring part of a dungeon, on repeat, with a "chance" to get something good. And the upside of it is "I can chill with my bros while doing it," but I can chill with my bros while watching a movie or playing another game altogether. Not trying to trash folks who enjoy maps, I just struggle to see the appeal and I say that as someone who used to organize maps a LOT back when I was struggling to keep my little group together.

Alternatively, if you have a team of 5 players, and each of you spends 15 tomes each on one map each, you get 5 maps that give you 5 portals. And then everyone gets 50 tomes, for a net profit of 35 tomes per player.

It's amazing how quickly the math starts making sense when you assume a player has friends. (Which is a bold assumption in a lot of cases, but that's another discussion entirely.)

The only dropoff was the no-longer-new one that all content in the game gets. Bra'skin maps were no longer the new shiny, just like Loboskin were no longer the new shiny about 3 weeks into DT

Starting about a month ago, the 60/70/80/90 portal maps were all getting more play as we were entering a content lull (I gather and sell 8 maps a day, so I notice how the trends with them)

I wouldn't be surprised, the few times I've tried to do maps, I've struggled to piece together a party, so I've given up. I remember back in Shadowbringers they'd be running all the time. The difference is certainly noticeable, but RNG is RNG, & people have different experiences. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am when it comes to map engagement.

It's hard to know for sure with RNG based content, but I could swear the number of maps that actually pop portals is way lower for the newest DT maps. I run maps on and off with my friends, and it was pretty normal to have a portal spawn 40-50% of the time for old maps (even when they were the current maps). Ran all DT maps the other day and got only three portals the whole evening. It left everyone feeling really bummed and not eager to run those maps again anytime soon.
