Server disconnecting all day

As the title says games been disconnecting me from the game almost all day even as I type this I been dc from game 4 times. Now I'm on console on a ps5 doing fates out on the moon and it's nothing but lag and dc, SE needs to actually work on thier dam servers and fix this game or start reimbursing players and no it's not my connection as Se would say it is

Luckily I've only had it happen once or twice and they've been a few hours apart

I do hope that the issue is eventually addressed
I know that there is a liveletter on the 28th so hopefully then if not sooner

Very small indie company please look forward and understand. If you don't like then then unsub and come back later on.

Serious gamers in united states and south america use VPNs now. If I were square enix I'd look for a way to relocate those servers to texas though, the routing of united state's network infrstructure to califonia is hurrenduous. Always damn california ruining everything for the entire country haha.

Japan is literally too far behind America to fix this.

They have no talent, their economy has been stagnating for decades. Even China is now eclipsing Japan. They literally cannot find engineers capable of dealing with this.

Texas has higher energy costs and a less reliable power grid.

No idea why anyone would put data centers there.

On west coast and had 0 issues today, so dunno...

I'd suggest trying a VPN to get around the faulty node. I'm not having trouble personally.

(You don't need a gaming VPN. The other ones are good in general in my experience, despite not marketing to games.)

Guild Wars 2's servers were in dallas texas since 2012 until 2018. They're now in virginia though which makes the most sense traffic wise since that side of the country is where most of the activity happens; west coast wouldn't have much trouble getting connected there.

Agree. I use Expressvpn which isn't marketed to games but it's rated as one of the best ones without the "for games" tag attached to it.

Texas would be great and make more sense for the bulk of the player base. Chicago would also be a decent place to have data centers. I know that's where one of WoW's main data centers is located, with the other being in CA.

Seems like Chaos is getting it right now. Strange lag spikes felt by everyone in the dungeon, fun stuff

Unless SE stops with their bias towards Japanese owned companies, Texas would be a terrible location due to NTT.

I get constant d/c's and ping spikes due to the Dallas, Texas NTT node, forcing me to use a VPN to avoid it.

So sick of this. Just got kicked out of a treasure map dungeon because of this. What a waste.

My FC and my friends schedule weekly events with each other but they fizzle out due to DDoS a third of the time. What are we paying our subs for?

It is unlikely its a DDoS attack. Download WinMTR and run a traceroute to the servers. It is very likely you are being routed through NTT which is an absolute trash dump of an ISP company that SE uses and refuses to hold accountable.

If its the case that you are, you (and others) might want to look into a VPN if you want to continue playing FFXIV, because there is no fix in sight.

I keep getting very bad lag and almost disconnect in all ARR areas. But when I leave them, I get no lag spikes or random disconnects.

Sorry indie company, can't afford to fix your DDOS attacks or have working servers. Please continue to pay your $15 a month they really neeeeeed it!

Doesn't matter which company SE hosts its servers at, if someone targets them for a DDOS, the only way to prevent that is to have a massive amount of bandwidth, or shut the game down.



Neither is practical. I'm not talking about like 2x what's needed for normal use. Even Amazon gets DDOS'd, just look at the site when something new in limited quantities appears. The PS5 launch for instance. Carts didn't work properly.
