The entire ‘Hunter/Ranger’ style of job is permanently locked off in ffxiv because they decided to squish it together with Bard. It’s practically impossible for them to create a ‘Hunter’ job that wouldn’t just be ‘a Bard that isn’t singing’.
They could turn current Bard into Archer/Hunter/Ranger and make a ‘new’ caster or heal Bard that actually fits the job, which would actually let the two ‘class fantasies’ be realized instead of the awful balancing act we have now. Unfortunately though, that’s too much work, plus too many people actually like being a singing Ranger (Bleugh)
I was thinking of like a military strategist that juggled dps and healing. Maybe they create a pet to share in their duties.

I will be more happy if we got rework to healers and tanks for the next expansion more than introducing another job.
I don't mind both but if we got a semi-OK reworks I will be mad
Until classes are made unique, you'll just get a new variant with flashy animations that does the exact same thing without flavor abilities.
I wish they kept to the classic jobs.
Decouple SMN and SCH
Add THF and remove THF skills from NIN
Make BLU a regular battle caster
Make DRK and WAR actual DPS (No, they're not. Stop it)
Give us Geomancer!
BRD that is a BRD!
Ranger that uses a gun, long bow or cross bow
Also, would be really cool of the jobs weren't locked behind weapons and added some offhand functionality.. either get a ranged weapon or an offhand melee weapon

I want some more options!! I want unique builds instead of ilvl dump.
Also have unique weapon combos for weapon proficiencies. SAM can use a spear or a katana, different types of katana, heavy and slow but strong. Fast and light, but lower damage, etc etc.
I wish there was a blink tank similar to what FFXI NIN was. Zero damage taken usually but eating a tankbuster has the potential to oneshot. High risk, high reward.
Much of what made the FF jobs across decades of games interesting is that they couldn't always be pigeon-holed into tank/dps/heals. Some iterations had legitimate support classes that were light on DPS. Without there being at least a 4th role (support, crowd control, whatever), then we'll just get various permutations of DPS for the foreseeable future. Or if not that, maybe a tank that is just as lacking in identity as the other 4.
What if, instead of job stones they changed it to role stones. Some jobs could be a tank, healer or dps depending on which role stone they have on. That would dictate what weapons and abilities and base stats you had.
For example, PLD could be tank, healer or DPS.
Tank- sword and board and high HP and defense
Healer- club/mace with mostly healing and some holy magic
Dps - great sword and high damage holy spells
okay- so first i wanna open with this; Id be completely fine with no new jobs next expansion on the grounds they sware to rework all jobs into more personalized versions similar to pvp, and bring back real job identity. if, this doesn't happen, and new jobs need to be added.. id say;
this game needs a new tank. to that id say lets finally get the judge in.
as for a dps. we really need a better choice of rangers. its either stupidly hard and constant buttons, constant buttons and stupidly easy, boring job that plays itself. the ranged jobs feels lacking of that real middle ground. and tbh we all want a proper gunslinger so what are u waiting for yoshiP
How about no new jobs at all going forward until they prove they can maintain all the ones they've already got?
I will always be hopeful one day we'll get A Viking tank job.
Made for pure defense / support tank. Focus on lots of buffs for both itself and party members, maybe give a debuff or two. Main weapon can be either One Giant Hammer, dual-wield small hammers, dual-wield small axes, or do a one-handed hammer and allow them to use Paladin shields in the off-hand, since Vikings normally use either hammer/axes/shields for weapons/equipment. Can have their buffs and offensive skills be themed around water and thunder as well. Maybe even give them water/thunder magic options similar to how Paladin/Dark Knight both have things that use up MP.
Viking only has really appeared in FF3, Tactics A2, and Mobius as actual jobs, so while there is a bases/templates for the job to work off of, it would pretty much be a lot of things built from the ground up if they put it in FF14.
It'll probably never happen, but I will continue to inhale the copium that one day it'll happen.
In my opinion, I hope they will not add new job in the next patch but rather overhaul the existing jobs and revamp the battle system.
Well as we get a Phys Ranged and a Tank in 8.0 i think it's time for them to get more creative.
For Phys Ranges i could imagine something like a Bombadier (think Blitzballer but with bombs/explosives, as YoshiP clearly hates Blitzball)
For Tank i would hope for a real Magic Tank that makes use of Reflect and variations of it to deal damage. this would imply that people can make a difference betweeen magic and physical attacks though
i understand the dislike for bliztball it can be a highly confusing game. through i think be funny if one of reflect was ffx world they have alot water
