Can someone explain to me why DRK gets a 2 hit aoe and GNB gets a 4 hit combo? Plus healing, plus everything? I main drk and know full well the sorry state it's in but thus is pitiful.

And honestly if we are all paying the same for a sub I expect some quality control. Drk has been in a shit spot since endwalker. Fine I can tbn talk busters. Woopty shit. How bout trash packs in dungeons, how bout sustain. Seems the direction the team wants to go but drk is left in the rain. So why I am paying to play a job thats barely functional and before you give me the "you can play ever job". You can't if you want tome and raid gear. Drk is manageable but my god playing gnb is mind numbingly easier and you always have some safety net. Wtf is with this dev team and drk? I'm not gonna keep playing this for 2 years for a change when they changed sam and viper in the first patch.
Because the devs don't know what to do with DRK.
That's not an excuse when streamers and posters have been screaming to high heaven. Doesn't mean they're right but the problems are glaringly obvious. Drk is even shit at 30
And I don't care what cope people like to have, oblationnis garbage. 10% iw garbage. Doesn't change or do anything. It's It's worthless mitigator.

B/c the Devs destroyed DRK after HW and handed out all of their skills to the other tanks without ever fixing DRK itself. You know the skill that everyone cries about with Warrior that instantly heals them per hit in battle? Yeah, that was DRK's first and one of their defining class abilities... which was taken from them.. and given to one of (if not the) highest dps tanks in the game... Yep, Bloodwhetting is the stolen skill that DRK's were known for and the tanks had a much better identity (DRK's were vampires that were great for full dungeon pulls, PLDs were the nerdy defense heavy tank you wanted as the mt, and WARs were the crazy glass dpser tanks - please correct me on this if I'm wrong, it's been almost 10yrs lol)

Instead of healing, it has The Blackest Night. Abyssal Drain is a good heal during big pulls and there is one on Souleater for single targets, Shadowed Vigil and Living Dead.

I'll agree that DRK could use some love, but I don't see what the specific moves you mentioned have to do with anything. I like DRK's AoE, and I don't want a 4-hit combo.
I never said they needed a 4 hit combo but my point is they can't even do that. I'm tired of job identy losers coping with dark mind too. It's garbage like oblation. Trash. I never use oblation unless my healer sucks and I'm desperate but I'm still gonna die. Play drk in tower or zot compared to the other 3 and tell me if it's remotely on par let alone 100 content. Yeah I'm angry because the changes needed are dire and are non brainers. Tbn needs to be at meat 35% now because nothing was scaled around it
Yes it is. It's a joke. I pay a sub like everyone else I expect to be able to main a functional job. It doesn't have to be S tier but God damn at lest somewhat uo to par
It would be ideal if they would just merge Oblation into TBN to reduce bloat.
I think WAR is just a little OP. But honestly? I leveled DRK and did a number of DT leveling dungeons with it - I was virtually handling myself without the healer by actually using my CDs like Shadowed Vigil, TBN, and using Abyssal Drain in a similar way that I'd used Equilibrium on WAR.Quote:

I have healed DRKs in leveling dungeons where they needed no healing whatsoever - such as Ktisis and some of the DT leveling dungeons. But at the same time, I've also had squishy DRKs that left me spamming my main heal (after exhausting my entire heal kit). The gear and skill of the DRK can have a massive impact tbh.
I wouldn't mind if DRK had healing over time from Salted Earth. I think that would be a fitting way to do it that doesn't just copy+paste other tanks.
I don't mind it being buffed; it just needs to actually break and, in content where it doesn't break, the damage should not be that great when not using it. That might be why 25% is needed. You can increase the effectiveness of TBN by combining it with mit anyway - one of my favorite past times is combining it with Shadow Wall, so less damage gets through into the TBN and it breaks at the pace I need it to.Quote:

on some lvl it might be a bit weak but its not that bad on higher lvl.
there are a lot of healer who dont know about drk. they just hear how bad it is and whenever they have a drk they are like 'yeah drk are shit, it cant possibly be my own fault the healing is difficult'
often its also the drk player who doesnt use his skills optimally.
and also: after getting used to 'heal' warriors some healers just became lazy.
I love DRK.

When it was announced that AST and DRG were getting reworks for DT I was like
"Wrong letter! Should be DRK, not DRG"
Then again, seeing how AST turned out, maybe it dodged a bullet?
In the next rework, Dark Knight switches to a Batman theme. Martial arts fighting with throwing knives and rappelling gun to move around or pull in or to monsters.
Still a tank but with pure chad energy, draped in darkness.

WAR had it 1st in 1.23 When Inner Beast used to heal a butt load, and wasnt a mitigation skill until 2.1 (when they added holmgang, so ppl would inv WAR back into savage (coils normal))
But yes, abyssal drain spam was nice, though blood weapon + overpower+zerk was even better than abyssal drain. since abyssal drain wouldnt heal you w/o using dark arts, so that was 60% of your MP gone unless you had blood price up, and your WHM didnt stun lock mobs, and you werent relying on blindness or evasion increases for mitigation.
In general, WAR was still better at it, even if it was mostly locked to long cool downs. Sometimes DRK was better.
EDIT: forgot it was Steel Cyclone, though inner beast had potent single target healing in 2.0
EDIT#2: Steel Cyclone was nearly spammable in 1.23, which made it the tank of choice for almost all content. (also didnt help that PLD had to do its 123 combo for threat, but couldnt continue the chain if they didnt hit the mob from its flank)
I mained DRK in HW and WAR in ARR. When SB gutted the job I dropped it as my main until DT.
I'm confused on what ability you're referring to that was DRK's defining class feature that WAR somehow stole from them. Was it Abyssal Drain, that gained healing after you used Dark Arts to augment it (that it retained in SB)? Was it Sole Survivor, which was an execution ability (a very lenient one) that full healed you? 'cause that was pretty much all it had to sustain in packs in HW. Soul Eater was single target.
WAR had Bloodbath in ARR & HW before SB made it a role skill for melee DPS. Which is just the longer duration less bloated version of Bloodwhetting. Inner Beast also used to heal 100% of the damage dealt and give 6 seconds of mitigation. Steel Cyclone was an aoe that healed for every enemy hit. I think it's safe to say that WAR never once stole any healing from DRK - as it always had it. Healing was always Warrior's thing, since ARR (even to the detriment of its job before it got reworked early in ARR).
DRK definitely needs some love from the devs, since its no longer top dps like it was early in EW and has the worst sustain of the four. Its mitigation is fine, but its sustain is complete butts.
Currently levelling after only having done dark knight and I’m amazed at how much more survivable paladin is, especially post 80. Waiting to 74 for a gap closer is rough though.
