That and/or consumable sprint items from side content please
Honestly? Sprint in cities should turn into a toggle-able thing, abit like PvP.
a sprint-stance? like on the island? oh no wait, i remember that wrong
You can theoretically swap between different jobs and dash around with pictomancer, White Mage, Dancer, Ninja, Dragoon
Physical ranged also have that perma sprint peloton
Swap to physical ranged -> peloton -> swap back to your original job once you don't have to run anymore
There's an FC buff for that.
TLDR:
PVP Sprint, or make it permatimer unlock for something special. (If the devs must feel like they don't want to allow you to sprint without a price/cost) Like all Quests in the City/Settlement/Zone are completed.

Wolves den only really has it, cause it switches out your skills. and the Dummy's all over need it for you to "practice" situations.
But asides that, they need to choose.
They removed some city enhancing sprint options. and not everyone at the start has access to strider.(Even if it's the first zone in the whole chain.)
We already have teleporters all over the cities. Just how impatient can people be? It would make sense if the cities were big and aetheyrtes weren’t a thing. But nope. Game is convenient enough already.
Placebo Sprint button, it changes the animation and not your actual speed.
This may be true of the older cities, but one of my minor gripes with DT was that the main city is so massive that it takes ages to get around, even with all the aetherytes unlocked. Solution 9 is a bit of a slog too but I don't think quite as bad. But in Tuliyollal I was switching to dancer just so I could use my dashes and peloton when sprint was on cooldown, its the first time I've actually wished they allowed us to use mounts in cities. If they continue making cities this big they need to give us a perma sprint like others are suggesting.
I can see how that seems logical. and seems like a good snappy response.
But there really is no negative too it.
(and this is including all the gimmicky speed tricks people can do. And this wouldn't change the niche jump puzzles either. as a accidental continued sprint use could mean a restart.)
And it doesn't really affect your view either if people rushing about to variable areas around a city.
If any, it'll always seem people got things to do, rather than being idle.
[if for some reason people despise people moving left right side to side in one spot. we can always just home button and stare at a wall.]
FF14 1.0 Pre-order gave you a Herme's Shoes that gives 10% movement speed with in the city as passive trait; however, it got nerfed in ARR
Perhaps 8.0 we should get a pair of this shoe again as pre-order item?
You can get Strider Boots from Eureka.
