Rotations depending on ping

Why is that a thing..?

If your ping is anything above 10 you will clip your GCD when double weaving on Monk.
Most fast jobs will clip in double weaving when its 50+...
When you are playing 3 digits, you will not have a good time on any job.

Is SqEx even aware of this?
When will this be adressed or at least acknowledged?

yes the game netcode is bad to the point where indie mobile games have better ping

It's the inevitable result of how GCD/oGCD weaving works, it's just exacerbated massively by the built-in 100ms delay and how the servers are placed.

My assumption: aware, don't care, seen as too time consuming to fix, seen as a player issue that isn't their problem, seen as a limitation of the client server model that just has to be accepted, etc

I think they should just fix it but :)

This has been known for ages. There's threads that are years old about this if you dig a few pages into the forums. There are also "ways" described in those threads on how to mitigate the issue. But the fact the devs haven't dealt with by now means that it probably won't be anytime soon.

It's due to there being an animation delay. So they want you to slowly carry out the animation, then the effect is applied at the point in the animation it's "logical" to. This process has to get permission from the server and these exchanges take time (ping). Then you can't press another ability until the previous one has done its thing.

The argument many of us would make, is effect should be independent of animation (instantaneous) and the animation should not be given such priority as to not be interruptable by another ability. This would support gameplay over animation because gameplay should have a certain (reasonable) degree of priority over animations and lore.

I can double weave with 170 ping but it's hit and miss and depends on the ability and its specific animation delay. SE has actually made some animations shorter and act faster than they used to and when they have done this it's made them easier to double weave. So it may benefit you to find which specific abilities have the shortest animation delays and try to double weave those, then just single weave the very delayed ones.

We have tried to tell them. We've posted about it. Bug reports have been submitted. It's been common knowledge among the English community for most of the game's history.

But the truth is, I don't think they understand. There is a language barrier and I think they just don't understand the issue or that it's a major problem that, quite universally, almost everyone wishes wasn't a thing.

I can see it being addressed someday but it will probably be completely at random. They typically do Quality of Life fixes in major patches and they suddenly fix things that have been a problem for 10 years out of the blue, as if they just discovered it and players fold their arms and think "you are addressing this NOW?!"

I mean it took COVID and monumental amounts of yelling to get rollback netcode half standardized in fighting games because delay netcode works fine between local matches in Japan. And even now a lot of implementations are lackluster still, automatically applying 2-4 frames of delay on top of the rollback instead of letting the player set the delay themselves.

So yeah, if you want anything done, expect to yell a lot for a decade at minimum. COVID only worked on FGs because it affected the IRL scene and pushed everyone to play from their homes where we demanded a better experience. 14 is already played exclusively online at home.

Also a lot of delay netcode implementations had the same bad priorities. Presentation over gameplay. Making sure background animations are synced between clients. Who cares?! Sync my inputs, Jesus H. Christ.

That seems to be why we got rollback finally but with forced delay anyways. The screen teleporting back on a bad connection really hurts the feelings of someone I guess. As a player, I'd rather have that than feeling like I'm underwater.

While MMORPGs are supposed to keep everything server side when possible, I just wish it would queue our inputs even if the connection drops, regardless of the animation issue. Maybe that queue means someone can inject their rotation instead of doing it but man I do not care that much when I know people will always be cheating or using tools in some way I can't see or know about. It's not like I can tell who is and isn't removing the animation lock from my end. All I see is someone doing a rotation and all I expect is for them to do it.

The existence of current tools that fix the animation issues should be enough of a reason to apply the same fix in the game.

I actually agree with this too but I don't like trying to convince people they don't need to be optimal all the time because some of them don't take it very well

Yes, it is.
Firstly because it shouldn't be this way, Secondly, this adds up during the course of a fight, making some content harder than it's supposed to be.
As a DRG, regular ping makes me lose 2 GCD + 1 OGCD from buff windows, not even accounting the terrible drift that comes with this issue.

I saw a whole other thread of people with actual data and charts and they will still be like "it's only the players fault" :/

Honestly I would say it exists because of a lack of perspective from the devs. They don't have to experience it, so they don't understand how bad it feels to play.

On DRG right now wit DT this is the worse you double weave on one of the GCDs in your hyper short 20sec burst you are fucked sometime even the animation is canceled midway it suck

During a perfect rotation the fights align incredibely well with your downtime tools, especially on melees. GCD clipping makes your whole rotation drift, missalign and forces you into further clipping down the road.
Optimization aside, it's absolutely unsatisfying to play if you have any kind of gamesense.
You will just go down into despair knowing this is pretty much the only big MMO in the world with that issue and how easy it actually is to fix...

I've got high ping but it's good thing I'm too casual to know or care what any of that means

Support this thread if you want something to be done about this.

In theory, they already have the information thanks to forum user Nekkowe but there's been no news whatsoever on the matter and AFAIK no content creator or interviewer has asked Yoshi-P about it again to confirm where they are at.

JP has good ping, so the issue isn't a concern or a priority.
