Happy birthday to 2.0 turning eleven!
Onto many more years!
Thank you for being here.
Yes, happy birthday. 11 years of growth and success despite what others here would have you believe.
I know what i was expecting when opening this thread.
Despite all the issues and non-issues, this is a game where a LOT of work has been put into from all possible angles. From the producer pulling 90 hour weeks (rumor i heard) to direct this game to where it is now, to the little employee in their canteen. Everyone deserves a little thank you here and there.
Like Yoshida-san said a few months back now, we are talking to humans here despite the anonymity.
I am a firm believer we are getting some of these issues fixed when they are ready to be fixed.
And before i am getting whiteknighted: I am glad this game exists.
Cheers!
(Isn't it spelled Etheirys?)
Happy birthday! Eorzea and beyond has given me so much to see and do over the past decade! Here's to many years more!
Happy Birthday Ætheris!
Happy Birthday!
And I have to say, the anniversary art is absolutely awesome!

It is (and is technically irrellevant anyway given SE still calls it 'Hydaelyn' on the main site...).
And besides, SE still tends to use 'Eorzea' when referring to the game in general which has been a thing since version 1.0., especially in a meta way ('Encylopedia Eorzea'; 'Eorzean Cafe'; 'Eorzean Symphony'; etc etc).
Oh for the love of...
(Not a personal attack so I'm sorry Kacho if it comes across as that, just.. yeah... lol)
Happy Birthday FF14 and a VERY Happy Release Day to FF16 on PC in a few weeks.
Finally, I can have both Yoshi P/Soken games in my game collection.
I always thought that it was Etheirys > Hydaelyn > Eorzea,
Etheirys being the name for the unsundered star and I guess a general name for The Source and all its reflections combined,
Hydaelyn being the name for the specific version of Etheirys' star within The Source (they never specifically refer to The First, Ninth, or Thirteenth's worlds by any specific name other than those given to them by Source natives)
and Eorzea of course being the name of the continent where most of the plot was developed and takes place.
I guess it'd make sense for them to use Eorzea for the name of the book(s), since it's the name that has the most relevance to the player until the events of Shadowbringers...
the easiest way to look at it is Etheirys = pangea it's gone now and we live on hydaelyn the sundered world and each world has its own name.
and i feel the same about why they just say eorzea, for 4 years the first two expansions that's all there was and while there is more to the game now that original setting solidified what everything is called and even the world even if lore wise it has been expanded and changed i will even say did we tell anyone the name of the old world? like to our companions? i can't say i recalled us telling anyone directly the name of the old world, so in the end now that basically all the ancients are gone the only person who even knows the old name is us and the watcher.
