So the festival...kinda...meh...

I guess I shouldn't be all that upset, it's only a bit depressing. Although, I will cut them some a lot of slack, because I understand that they're still hard at work at developing 2.0

What I hope is that the future, we'll have not only lvl 1 activities, but high lvl stuff as well, for other types of gear, fun weapons, furniture, etc.

OR, add other activities/Mini games Like FFXI's Festival. (I loved the chocobo mini game XD)

What kind of stuff would you like to see for future festivals?

I agree it sucked, however, I hate almost every festival activity that SE comes up with and almost never do them... So I may not be the best judge though. I only fully completed this one in case the rumor that you can spend achievement points in 2.0 turns out to be true.

I was happy with it and I'm happy with most of the seasonal events SE comes up with :)
They are fun and available to everyone - which is the reason why these events HAVE to be "lvl 1 stuff" - new or low level players are supposed to be able to complete them as well, not only people with all classes at 50.

I enjoy how interactive they are, like luring bombs into the fire, this year keeping them away from the balloons or traveling all over Eorzea to find all the easter eggs (and fight monsters too which weren't all low lvl!), solving riddles imps pose on us etc. :o
I was only really disappointed at the events that were done by talking to an NPC, getting the item from him and that's it (like the princess day one).

you know SE doesnt have to do these right? i myself have really enjoyed the summer event, the yukatas are great and the fire dance in infectious whenever you use /countdown around a group of people

What I hated the most was the music tbh, it bugged me so much I did this.


The nostalgia almost made it fun for a few min.

Why are you here?

Why do people expect seasonal events to OMG knock their socks off awesome? That's not what they're there for. Each one just a small diversion to break up the monotony of same old same old in/around town every now and then.

I'm glad it was a little less time-consuming than last year's, TBH. It felt about right, but more optional minigames or activities might've been nice (if not for the need to focus on 2.0).

I thought it was nicely done, while i am not the fans of the music. The giant bombs certainly gave some thrills to low level players and it certainly does gives the vibes that summer is actually hot.

Yukatas are certainly nice additions.

Because I can't find the motivation to do Blacksmithing at the moment, and I have nothing better to do. Nah, I'm not offended, nor do I feel SE in the past made the best moves with this game. However, I don't play a game I don't like and I understand changes are coming. Feel free to post your opinions, just actually make a point and a constructive post. You don't have to do the events, they're made to be inviting to all. Best of luck.

festival was nice I though, I like the music and atmosphere and seeing everybody in Yukata
I still stay by my opinion the yukatas are too short, as Highlander man I look ridiculous with the shorts... needs some pants

I like the idea of having to defend against big bombs that are comming towards you.

The concept is great. The end result is bad.

This is due to the fact that to 'participate' you basically stand in one spot and spam a macro, hoping it 'hits'. I typically don't pay any attention at all and just keep hitting ALT-0 (regardless if a bomb is there or not). When over I go see if I get some dust which means I hit something.

The amount of lag means you see things often after they are dead.
The amount of lag means that even if you target when they have health, your /firedance does not process in time.
This means, just spam /targetnpc;/firedance and hope you hit it before everyone else does (at least once) so you can collect the prize.
Since you do this blindly, there is no reason to pay attention.

An example of beautiful artistic concept married with a horrible technical implementation. If SE can retain the artistry and improve the technicalities, then this will be a truly marvelous world.

It is not a Negative Discussion Forum. I agree posts should be made here to discuss issues that are negative to the game. I do not agree with what you have posted or the manner in which you have. You've offered little if any subjective criticism. I never meant for this to be a battle with one person, you simply caught me on a free night of posting. I thought forums were ONLY for negative discussion - kidding. I never meant for it to be a battle with one person either I thought we were just having fun.

I understand the point you're trying to make but I have to respectfully disagree. I feel that negative criticism is the most effective forum of criticism and yields far more results and talks only a fraction of the effort to put forth.

If a large number of people say a game sucks for example the developers might say to themselves "Well, we're getting a lot of negative feedback so we better make some changes or we're going to loose profits." Where as, if someone makes a lengthy post about how they really like the game and everything's really nice, but maybe it would be nice if you changed X and X. A developer may instead say to themselves "Well what the hell do you know, are you a game dev? Piss off."

I liked the event overall.

But...

It's a shame they listened to the people who complained about people "leeching" last year, because it doesn't mesh super well with having to defend the balloons when only one person can dance at a bomb. Making me compete with people who are trying to get every single bomb by themselves is an unnecessary hassle. Maybe in a perfect world where people were considerate of others trying to do the event it wouldn't have been annoying.

And I don't know if it scales but it seems like the amount of bombs could easily go from barely being able to get one dance in to barely being able to keep one balloon up.

I feel sorry for SE in regards to festivals, its good there having them but my expectations of what to expect from a mmo festival come from anime...... so they will never be met.
So i agree there all Meh, but some people i know like them so i hope they keep them up for other peoples.
