For real, I shouldnt have to hope I have friends close to one in order to participate. They need to do more research when doing these promotions. Its only in a handful of states.

They already forgot America's not the size of Japan when they put all of our data centers in California.
laugh in eu
what, 3 countries with the whats-its-name bubble tea shop? 4?
at least the code is usable by everyone everywhere
how was that mountain zu again? :-D
At least you americans have one of those stores in your country and you don't need to travel internationally if you wanted to participate like most of Europe.
It's funny that here in the upper midwest I had better ping when the servers were in Canada.
The closest Gong Cha to me is about 200 miles away and I'm in a fairly large city. I think we don't have them because we have exactly 800 other boba places. I had to rely on a friend to get a code.
Europe is bigger than the US (including meme alaska yes) and has 44-50 countries (depending who u ask). US has 50 states.
And honestly even including Alaska is funny since its not even attached to mainland US, thats like adding Greenland to Europe because Denmark owns it.
Unfortunately, it didn't matter for me. I live where there are 3 of them and within 24 hours they were all sold out of keychains.
You can get them on Ebay for 70 dollars, though.
/womp womp.
Look at Europe. I don't think the people organizing the crossovers are actually thinking about anything but JP. It just feels like the rest of us are an afterthought.
I live in Canada and have a Gong Cha right near me and another moving into the mall. Neither the one near me nor the several others in the area had keychains. I didn't even know there were keychains until I looked online. (at least I got the mount though)
Why are we getting into "who's got it worse"?
Every promotion has its problems even if there's no outside partner.
SE would need to partner with something like McDonalds and get them to involve all their regional subsidiaries to pull off a good promotion. There aren't that many companies out there with substantial international market penetration to cover every place that players live.
Insert obligatory "why are they giving these items away via third party product sales when they could be giving us ways to earn them in game".
The Gong Cha near us had the employees selling the codes on ebay and constantly refusing to honor the promotion on weekends. Guess the wanted the extra pocket money before being reported to corporate.
Just because it's in our country doesn't mean we can take a day trip to go get one. Because our country is massive.
It would take me 12 hours of driving just to get to a store, and i live in the midwest. Someone on the west coast would need to take a day and a half to get there.
Just add them to the market place after 6 months so the promo users can show off their mount/emote for a bit. Like the pizza emote. No one would be against this and it's more revenue for the game.
Harlingen is still like an hour away from me though. I'm not gonna drive that far to spend a bunch of money on teas I won't even drink.
I have a feeling most of these deals have some sort of exclusivity agreement. Practically none of them are brought into the store. I think they finally caved with the Cloud mount because so many people wanted one, so they recolored it to yellow so it can look like Goku's Kintoun. I still want the basic colored cloud mount.
I wish they would just stop doing in-game promotional items in general.
It's one thing to miss out on some cute little cup or a limited edition Mountain Dew bottle. It's another to miss out on in game items. If you want to give out in game items, give out crap nobody will be mad about missing. Like dye pots or something.
I can't wait to do the Mountain Dew dungeon with my new glamor from farming the Monster energy drink fate with the special buff item from the promotional Gong Cha cash shop in Gridania. I can ride there on my exclusive yokai watch mount, but not before passing by the adorable Downtrodden Moogle beggar, where players can donate to Square Enix to keep the game running.
Then maybe later I can get with some friends to run the sword art online savage raids. There are some cool new billboards in the background of the arenas like they put in Ishgard.
Then we'll catch an in game hololive concert (cash paid tickets)
