Never used it. Never will. If you destroy something, thats on you. The game asks you to confirm things several times.
It's pretty silly. In WoW you can restore up to 50 items every 7 days and it's a completely automated process. That game's coming up on 20 years old.
No it does not, it only asks once.
Why do people have such a hard time accepting the consequences for the mistakes they make?
The majority of items don't take that much effort to earn again.
The policy needs attention for sure.
This applies to Character restore as well, it is one-time.
Thats great and all, but one-time for an account with up to 8 service accounts under it is in my opinion <redacted>.
They used to delete your characters after just 3 months of not subscribing, in Final Fantasy XI.
As they found out, this did not work in their favor, and they started to lose a lot of money from everyone noticing this policy and then quitting when friends could not return.
They redacted this policy and then went and created a Character restore form, which then turned into an automated process with unlimited use.
Now it is handled by GMs and takes a few minutes to get a character restored from deletion after 24 hours have passed.
I deleted one of my characters unaware I was not going to be able to restore it, as I'd used a restore on a different service account, on my main SE account, which has more than 3 accounts attached to it.
At minimum, item and character restore, should be granted at least once per Service Account (you can have up to 8 of these on a single SE account), not limited to Square Enix Account!
I am hopeful that in the future we will get manual or automated Character restore, just like FFXI has, but won't hold my breath.
But they wont, they operate this system off a very old rule that has not been updated since 2.0.
Reminds me of the time I pentamelded the latest cooking/alch tools and burnt through so much materia. Only to unmeld and desynth them because I was tired/sleepy.
Yeah, I messed up, I woke up freaking out about where my tools were and concluded that the above had happened...
Is it my fault? Yeah for sure, lesson learned, never meld when you're sleepy/tired.
Would I have liked an option to restore them? Yes, they cost alot...and remelding them was a pain.
Did I use my 1 time recovery? No, because what if I need it for something more important. Nevertheless, I got PTSD from the sound of materia shattering.
I think they don't want to deal with the 'oh I oopsied and deleted/discarded something'
My friend accidentally handed his TEA weapon to the GC and used his 1 time recovery on it...
I've never needed it but I completely agree.
Lately I've been having an issue with my clicks/buttons double pressing and I'm worried it's going to happen at an inopportune moment and I'll accidentally do something bad. So far it's mostly just equipping stuff I'm trying to take out of the armory chest.
I'd definitely have liked to have some more restore allowances for some colossal mistakes I've made
Top 2 mistakes:
- Deleting my Paladin (Zeta) relic, because I can just buy the replica again, right? I have the achievement!
Nope! You need to melt them down into heavensward relic tokens for you to have it "permanently unlocked"
I couldn't buy replicas until I grinded out the entire thing again
- Deleting the entire Butler (Mog station) outfit, because it was locked to male characters and couldn't go in the armoire at the time
Total waste of inventory space. But like 8 years later... now I can wear it on my character since they updated it, too bad I have no way to get it back!
Agreed, there shouldn't be a policy like this, it's nothing more than restoring rows in a database, which can be fully automated.
Everyone makes mistakes, kids could be playing on the account, or years of work shouldn't go down the drain due a moment of not paying attention.
And it doesn't impact anyone negatively to have this feature.
