Can we get rid of +1 and +2 materials?

Okay, they no longer drop during combat, which is nice! But they still drop during gathering.

A wasted inventory space is a wasted inventory space, regardless of what I was doing at the time that I acquired the item!

Actually I like the +1 and 2 materials... helps pick up synthesis quality and durability more than normal materials do

Oh, I love synthing with HQ materials, but I don't see what was accomplished by getting rid of 2/3 of the varieties for combat drops, but not for gathering. I'd be perfectly happy to have NQ or +3 across the board.

What's the point of having a "+3" if there's only going to be one "+"? Why not just have it "+" with no number? I prefer the +1, +2, and +3 versions.

they could just make +1, +2, +3 just all +1. make +1 only drop from higher lvl mobs/gathering nodes and that'll save up a ton of inventory space and still have that added bonus of using an HQ item

It would be nice if the items stacked on top of each other, and only counted as one item type, but when crafting an item you could choose what type you wanted to use [assuming you had some acquired].

Exactly, it's the inventory space I care about. Call it whatever you want.

The point is that they got rid of the two in the middle from mobs, but left it for gathering, which as far as I can tell, accomplished nothing.

I support this! My harvesting bag will thank you.

Hq rates are so bad on mat synths with the off hand that I need all the + anything I can get.
As the game ages, the difference in plusses actually offer a lot of diversity. For example, you can't hq1 a certain bs hammer at rank 30 without hq mats, but a rank 50 can. BUT a rank 30 with copper ore +3s beats my r50 at making brass ingot+3 because I'm still not good enough to get that kind of quality.

I like the three plusses. No need to use a plus 3 when a plus 2 will do for my level. Or better yet a plus 1

Ugh no way. It'd be a really dumb fix for the real 'problem' of inventory management.

If you don't like +1 and +2, just throw them away. The money lost is tiny compared to the gil pile you are probably sitting on by now anyway.

Now that you have two retainers, if you have inventory management issues, you must be hoarding stuff. I know, I do it too, I'm sitting on a lot of dye and moss that I can't bring myself to vendor and hasn't been worth selling. But I really should ditch maybe half of it one way or another, because it could be months before I'd use it, and I could get everything back in a day or two.

Better ideas that are more to the point include:
-a merchant in each camp: duh, now you can ditch inventory for gil without traveling all the way to camp lowbie or a city. The camp quatermaster who handles crafting deliveries should be a merchant, duh.

-a bit more ability to control what you are gathering for: when I only want maple sap, and know where the maple tree is, I still have to log two other trees I don't want to log. Or I could mine a point and fish a point, etc.

So how about:
1) I can look at a tree and tell what basic type it is.

2) there are enough trees of each type active at any given time that you can find them and run a route for a while.

Throw Gridania a frickin' bone: make the large open 'grove' areas have like 3 of the same tree active, so now people who really want to hit the same type of tree and don't want to have to run all over the place without gathering can go to Gridania. Then it's kind of cool eh how there is a 'maple grove' and a 'elm grove' and an 'oak grove' and you can still have other trees spread a bit more randomly on the paths.

And for Limsa and Ul'dah...more active trees is still nice. Gridania should obviously be the best place to log by far, but each of the other zones might have something that is its advantage/unique thing. I think they actually already do (like Ul'dah has the cacti) so you could just play it up a bit when/if you expand the number of gathering points.

Same deal with quarries and harvest points. 'Oh look a patch of cotton, straw, corn, beans, dyer's moss, belladonna, mistletoe, pumpkins, zucchini, and tomatoes!! Huzzah! Ok, I only want the cotton so, I will just close my eyes and whack away with this scythe. After all, I've mastered the arts of gathering, so surely this is the best way.'

I'd be happy to do more running for more and more specific harvest points. Oddly enough, gathering is like the one time I really don't mind all the running around at all. Just enjoying the zone is what it's all about. And it's great btw how there's no special 'gathering music' because it just lets you enjoy the zone's music. Limsa is a bit too yo ho ho adventurey sometimes for relaxing gathering, but you can turn it down and just have the ocean sounds.

Mining could do the same-ish thing. More points, with more specific drops. Then if you can tell what they have, and they don't exhaust so fast, so you don't have to find the route you want to run more than once per day.

And as for drops in general...

A little bit more 'realism' please. As in, trees that give cock feathers, really? How about chickens have cock feathers. And how about eagles have eagle feathers. I guess you could find an eagle feather in a tree, but it'd be a lot rarer than finding branches and logs which come with, you know, EVERY TREE.

I absolutely agree... I think there should be only normal quality and high quality... not 3 different high qualities... !!
