I don't play gun jobs but I'd pick one up for Corsair.

Canoneer was supposed to be in the original game, you can see the Guild Plate for it in the Marauders Guild.

From what I understand they DID plan to have a pistol job but it was scrapped during ARR development and when they went back to the drawing board, they went with MCH instead.
I mean it could happen. Who knows.
Next expansion will likely release another Phys Range based on current job distribution. So it's possible.
I kinda wish the made - or remake MCH into a rifleman job and make the weapon to be larger rifle and up (so no sub MG or pistol). And create an actual pistol job like Corsair (pistol/sword) or gun slinger (dual pistol).
Some of the bigger gun just straight up look weird on MCH because they only shoot with one hand. And why I love the PvP MCH animation so much, because it looks like they're actually shooting a rifle.
I mean we will be in need of a new ranged job next expansion... but I'm not sure about a dual wielding bandito.

Actually, that was meant to be Musketeer ('MSK' for short) not 'Cannoner', but yes it was meant to be in 1.0 but never implemented (I suspect at the time there was concern it probably would play too much like ARC and that how in 1.0 you had to equip ammo as well, that to make or source it with every shot you would take, would have just been too difficult for players, so it was never added to the game). And given how the class logo was included in ARR, it seems that Yoshi may have considered redesiging it and adding it to the game in a different form, like what happened with ACN which was also meant to have been a 1.0 class but equally never implemented, but for whatever reason never did. And I think it's safe to say that whatever had been designed for it was appropriated for MCH, for better or for worse, apart from a few Limsan NPCs being MSKs (like Merlwyb).
Accordingly, I doubt very much you're going to see an actual gunslinger class like MSK now - MCH is the closest you'll get. Also given how apparently future Jobs are going to be based on individual characters from past FF games and not using any remaining 'traditional' Job as a model, apart from Sazh in FFXIII I don't remember there being any gun using characters in the series that dual wielded pistols, so that's another nail in that coffin I'm sorry to say.

how about NO until they fix the jobs they have and can add one without stripping the rest of ranged dps for the interesting parts of their kit.
i have been saying for awhile now, right now is their idea phase.
we are getting a tank and a p ranged jobs next expansions so right now is literally the time to throw your ideas out on the forums in hopes of giving them ideas on the new jobs.
