DPS "parsing" yourself on PS5? Yes, there is a way.

Every PS5 player who wants to compete and doesn´t have a pc friend or pickup knows this problem i guess. But there is a way you can compare and find out your dps by yourself without depending on someone uploading a log from you with your best run randomly(which will almost never happen).

First record any boss you want via Share Button to compare rotations, uptime and dps with other top ranked players later.

Go to fflogs(website).

Click on your aimed content(for example dungeons/tender valley), there chose ranking lists.

Now go to the filters and chose your class(for example pictomancer) and boss damage. All the best parsed players of your class are listed here from best to worst now. Chose the best player here.

On that players page now change "Bosses and Trash" to one of the bosses(the one you recorded on your PS5). You will see only the boss fight now with the dps of all partymembers. In that list(4 players) chose the player with the class you want to compare the dps with(in this case for example pictomancer).

The next page shows you the whole rotations and uptimes, so as damage done and dps of only the player you want to compare with.

Now what you do is check your recorded videos time from first hit to last hit and match(cut) that time on the players page so that it has the same parse/log time.

Now all you have to do is counting how often you used your skills, calculate your average dmg on every skill and how all that matches with the player you compare that with. If it matches perfectly or similar, then you know that you did the same or similar dps.

I know, first it looks a little complicated, but if you get used to fflogs or are already, then it´s only a thing of some minutes preparing everything and then only the video analysis will take some time.

My experience with uploaded logs as a PS5 player is also very bad, even though there are a lot of players uploading logs every day in the rankings, the chances that someone doing this with you in that group are still kinda low. So you will propably have only very little logs and by a high chance not your good runs in your private page registered over a longer time.

The above explained method though makes it possible for every PS5 player to just record their best boss run and compare it with others whenever they want without having to spam a lot of runs to rely on someone randomly logging you.

This way you can atleast get better or have some self-affirmation until there is content again people upload more logs from.

Also another good thing about this method is it is private and you don´t release other peoples names and statistics. You can also hide your logs on fflogs if you don´t want unwanted logs there to be shown(they are still showing up on your private page though.). This requires to have an account there though.

Actually... no. We could discuss forever again if such as fflogs is illegal nor not but this method doesn´t make you use any "illegal" programs in the background but instead just recording a video via share button and comparing that to statistics on a website on your pc or mobile phone.

I didn´t tell anyone to use a program for uploading logs or something like that.

Good on you for doing it, dont mind those people too much, some people just dont want to improve in any way.

I know people do it and my personal feelings and what i do and dont do doesnt really matter here Sophia.
This is the Official Forum and parsing is only accesible via forbiden third party tools.

They aren't using an addon so this isn't an illegal activity.

Recording your own game session and comparing it to others to see if you need to improve your rotation has been a thing forever.

As long as you don't record someone ELSE and harass them and just keep it to personal use I don't think it breaks any rules.

Nah I jumped to conclusions and missread what she wrote.
My mind just assumed the illegal software method when the FFLogs were involved without reading it properly.
That mistake is completly on me and i would like apologize. :)

Its right that comparing Videos isnt illegal.

Nope, fflogs is not "illegal" yoshi p has said parsing and such is not illegal as long as it's not used to harass others.

If someone's worried about how they're parsing in a dungeon, they have more problems than just their rotation.

The method you suggest is wildly inaccurate and does not give you a full picture of what is happening. You cannot eyeball things like this.

If someone wants to improve through parsing then they should go do the content that will give a more accurate picture. Dungeons have to keep in mind the variety of skill levels of the playerbase, even Expert dungeons. Something like the Extremes is going to have people more focused, who will be using food and pots, who will be trying to line up raid buffs, etc. That is going to give a much more accurate view.

It´s absolutely the same and 100% accurate if you just want to now your own damage/performance. The only thing what can make it inaccurate is when you do the wrong comparing like use different times/time cuts OR if you calculate your stuff wrong. I admit it´s a lot of work though analysing your video and calculate stuff. It´s an option if you have some free time, can´t ask someone to parse you and really want to know with who you are up to/what dps range you are in(or basically how good you are for real or how your build does compare).

Actually you don´t even have to be super accurate in what damage/dps you EXACTLY do if you don´t have the time or motivation for big analysis, if you just compare your recorded rotation to others in their logs(same runtime ofc) and it is identic, you are already solid - the rest is about finding out/comparing with others how and when to use your buffs, which don´t show in the logs(the increased damage portion from it does show up though). Ofc gear makes some difference too, but in FF14 everyone is more or less equalized very quick sooner or later anyway.

It´s nonsense. If you compare, you do it with the same content, same class and the best players and there are A LOT of dungeon entrys in the rankings. I admit, that other halloween like expert dungeon for example is kinda messy, but knowing all mechs etc is a part of getting good/better.

It´s the same for any other type of content. It´s not like raids will be easier or will have less going on, lol. Whatever content you compare, you compare it with the same class having to handle the same shait. The reason why you can´t keep up with the same rotation of that player is up to you to find out though.

I really hope arcadion raids will be parsed more than dungeons, sure then it´s the better option. But if it will be like 1 log every 10 runs, it´s not enough for me personally.

Still, dungeons are still a competing thing... just watch how many new logs there are in the rankings every day.

Or you know, People are allowed to optimise their rotation in dungeon too for some funsies. It also the next step over doing your rotation on a random dummy.

Like seriously why do you care about people parsing in a dungeon? That the equivalent of complaining that some people roleplay in some FC house.

Sure, no one cares about the trash mobs and everything else between bosses but you can filter only the boss fights in fflogs and even in the rankings so it´s basically like parsing raids, only shorter(still long enough to do multiple full buffed rotations).

Thats why many people upload dungeon logs too, just look at the rankings and how many uploads there are daily.

Anyway, i finished a really good setup for me to calculate my dps in excel. Whenever i feel to check it again, i just have to type in the new skill damage numbers from the recorded boss video and change the time calculated for dps. To make sure it´s accuarate i also registered a comparison example from fflogs there(total damage and dps from same content with the same runtime as me) and recreated the dps result from that example with 1 or 2 formulas. That way i assured both my and the examples formulas and results are accurate.

The only thing i don´t count in my videos though is autoattack, lol(there are just too many). Here i just put an average number from my previous logs or from other players(it´s pretty much the same everwhere) with a fitting runtime.

This setup also lets me compare different own builds easily.

Sorry to say but you could play 1:1 the top rank rotation and still not doing as much dmg as they do, and btw you shouldnt even look at the top logs most of them are even using a wrong rotation or a special opti rota which isnt used somewhere else, so nice for your advice but its way too much work for something which has a higher chance to be not even true or optimal.

Yes, if convicted of parsing, you could be sentenced to pay a fine of up to $25,000 or spend 6 months in prison. It's a very damaging activity to society, so that's why they made it illegal with harsh penalties.

As i sayed, then it is you who do the wrong comparison. If you go to fflogs and filter as explained you see the top boss damage in first place, yes(total damage done, which alone is not the dps) but obviously there you can check the players dps and take the one with the highest boss damage filtered dps(again, same class obviously) to compare with. That way you can be sure the rotation is right. Wrong rotation = lower dps(below 19 or 20k as DRG for example), right rotation = top dps(20-23k DRG for example). It´s as simple as that. The other stuff i explained already(buff usage etc, you have to just check a class guide for that and the top dps players are definitely doing it right).

Ofc if your rotation is right or wrong you can see via your skill usages(Casts) too, but the dps already tells you how you performed while with Casts you can go in detail what exactly went wrong.

I mean, common... did you really ever deal with fflogs(only the website) in any way? Or ever used the filters and timecuts?
