Hello. I'm posting here because I'm legitimately desperate to stabilize my game. I'm getting random crashes which are substantially interfering with everything I try to do--the crash could be five minutes after opening the game, or five hours, but they tend to happen in more populated areas.
I've legitimately tried so much to fix this issue. I've messed with settings, I've turned off core isolation and Fullscreen optimization, I've uninstalled and reinstalled my graphics drivers, Final Fantasy XIV, and Windows. I've even changed out/upgraded my graphics card (from Nvidia to AMD, but I got crashes on the Nvidia card that looked exactly the same except they were nvidia graphics drivers mentioned in the error) and RAM. I'm legitimately losing my mind trying to stabilize this game, so anything that could be done about it would be greatly appreciated.

A multitude of people are having the same issue and more. Nothing to do about it until SE, themselves, address the problems and fix them. -

RAM related crashes wouldn't be caused by the game.
They've tried both an NVIDIA and AMD GPU and get the same results.
Two GPU's tested with same results, both from different manufacturers... yeah it's definitely not a GPU issue.

This is likely to be the problem...
Intel 13th and 14th gen CPU's are currently experiencing instability issues that can cause games to crash, RAM corruption crashes as well as complete PC crashes.
Intel 13th and 14th Gen CPU's currently have an overall failure rate of well above 20%... exact number is unknown and is expected to be a LOT higher.
It's just Intel selling defective or poor quality silicon.
I'm on an AMD CPU (5800X3D) and an AMD GPU (RX 7900 XT) and I don't get any of these crashes.
My brother is on an Intel 11th Gen CPU (11900K) with an AMD GPU (RX 6800) and does not crash. -

Even the devs of The First Desendant created a patch, which throttles the shader compilation on Raptor Lake CPUs to prevent crashes.

Because it is affecting systems of various types. Various cpu's, various gpu's, various ram, and so forth. It's affecting new monster machines the same as older ones in the same ways. Could be also RAM unstable or the higher temperatures causing from the graphic update and the "summer" we have for now.
I'm playing since DT launch for now 60+ hours and still not a single crash or stuttering... even on DLSS (with likes to crash even more, so I played the first 14 hours with AMD FSR2) @ Maximum graphics. -

I'm not downloading a third party software to get a work around. I've never heard of Intel XYU. I'm not techy, so your suggestions aren't something I can do. SE just needs to fix what they broke. The game ran wonderfully on my PC on highest settings before DT. Now it's just annoying to try to play even after lowering my settings. -

A memory leak means there's defective code that's not releasing resources it no longer needs. If you load windows task manager and see FFXIV is using stupid high amounts of RAM and then yes, there's likely a memory leak.
Even in Odin Limsa the most I've seen is 5 GB in use by ffxiv_dx11.exe and that's not uncommon.

This is completely normal RAM usage for an MMO and does not signal a "memory leak"
Memory corruption occurs when a memory location is unexpectedly modified, these are usually CPU level crashes.
Have you not noticed how most of the people complaining of crashes are using Intel CPU's, specifically 13 and 14 parts?
I haven't found a crash complaint thread from anyone using AMD.
First page alone has crash reports from someone using the following processors - 13700F, 13700K, 14700K.
The issues described by the OP are pointing towards possible CPU issues but ofc YMMV.

Update: I've tried many things, including placing a lower thermal throttle on my CPU and underclocking my GPU. This has improved stability in some places, but I notice my CPU getting very hot right before the game errors out. I'm no longer erroring out as often in low-pop zones and instances, so it seems I can do eight-man content just fine.
That being said, I errored out 3 separate times during a Thaleia run earlier today, and S-ranks and Hunt trains are basically out of the question, as I'll error out pretty consistently even at bare minimum graphics settings. Next on my docket is changing out my garbage CPU fan with a liquid cooling system to troubleshoot if it really is a cooling issue. After that, my only options seem to be changing out the CPU (and motherboard, by extension) completely or just waiting and praying that Square either comes up with a fix, or hotfixes the game to stabilize it.
@Larirawiel I have attempted to find settings to lower the performance core multiplier in BIOS and using Intel XTU, but after looking for over an hour, I cannot locate settings which allow me to do that.
Thank you all for your thoughtful and helpful responses. If you've got any tips or further information, I'd really appreciate them, but I'm near the end of my rope, been spending most of my freetime just troubleshooting this game.
List of things already tried:
-Upgrading GPU and using a different brand (Nvidia to AMD)
-Upgrading my RAM from 16gb to 32 gb
-Upgrading my power source from 600w to 1000w rating
-Removing fullscreen optimizations, disabling v-sync, locking frames to monitor refresh rate (60 fps)
-Removing interfacing USBs like the one which interfaces with my wireless headset
-Turning off XMP and Intel Rapid Storage Technology in BIOS
-Turning off Core Isolation and Gaming Mode
-Setting graphics settings to their minimums
-Undervolting and underclocking GPU
-Lowering voltage on CPU
-Closing external programs while running (Firefox, Spotify, etc.)
-Uninstalling and reinstalling the game, including verifying.
-Hard reinstalling Windows
-DISM / sfcscan -

It is under "Advanced tuning". Just take the current multiplicator value and substract 2 or 3 from it.

I used that Extreme Tuning Utility tool to bump it down 2 yesterday and since then I have not crashed. However what ive been reading about these CPUs is that they are eventually going to fail, it just happened to magically coincide with the release of DT because now suddenly im getting other problems with my PC.

It's the game and the hardware both. I have an AMD processor and it crashes anytime I'm in a city. Husbands Machine is AMD, works fine. the part that's concerning is the KERNAL32.DLL which tells us something in the game is trying to access the processor and failing. The issue is software related to hardware however all the other games I play work fine, no issues, FPS is fine, no glitching. So this points to one thing. 7.0 & 7.01 are bugged and causing issues.
Also, you shouldn't have to jump through hoops to play a game that was working fine before the update and now crashes, that's on SE and FFXIV to figure out. I've canceled my sub because they can't be bothered to fix their game or respond to anyone with issues. They let us respond to each other instead, so very helpful. -

Despite that the stuttering and freeze issues have not been addressed by SE, I did have a good day in-game yesterday. No stuttering or freezes. I was able to do alliance raids and dungeons with no latency or other issues. The game played normally without any further adjustments on my end.
Maybe they're working on some backend issues to correct the problems or perhaps it was just a fluke on my end... a good one.
We'll see how it performs when I get home later today. -

its a mix of both in my opinion
the cpu gets the lion's share of the blame, but something in the game is pushing that weak point.
that said, it would have been nice for SQEX to have been more of a help in it rather than the normal "well we dont think it exists, have you trying reinstalling"
but my annoyed ranting aside, there MIGHT be a fix, me and another player with a similar build used setting the Itel extrem turning utility to chance the Core IccMax and the Long and Short Boost power maxes to the intel recommended
while he did have to reduce his cpu multiplier as well. I didnt
But we both havent had a crash since doing this almost a week ago.
