DC Travel (and the lack thereof)

I've been enjoying playing since Dawntrails release being locked on Crystal without the ability to travel to Aether/Primal, it has been so nice opening party finder and actually seeing legit listings that aren't just another 50 nightclubs, being able to clear the extremes without having to travel to Aether etc.

I know it'll never happen, but i would REALLY like it if DC travel was locked until a cross-datacentre party finder is implemented, just so our respective DC's that aren't the "raiding hubs" can maintain a feeling of people playing :(

It'd be really nice to not be borderline forced to go to Aether in order to find any help with a high end duty (past this early few weeks of the expansion, of course)
I'm hoping that they implement a cross DC party finder somehow (don't care how, it's been an issue for almost 2 years now, and it needs to be fixed.) or just restrict it in the meantime.
For example, they could let you join whatever party you want on whatever DC, but if you've got the <<Traveler>> tag, you're always counted as loot locked for the week. Then when you go back to your home DC, you go back to normal.
This way, you can still go there for progging, or to help out a friend, but you're much more encouraged to stay to your own DC, and the raiders on Aether have a reason to not let you into their party to get the maximum amount of loot drops.

Totally agree. Not that it was ever in question but Dawntrail has proven the game is much healthier without DC travel and everyone piling on Aether was completely unnecessary. I hope they keep it off for good.

I wouldnt agree i actualy look foreward to the cross continental Data Center Travel :O

Being able to visit friends is important to many of us on other DC's. Personally I'd love to see them open up Regional Travel to the EU and Japan as well.

Exactly! :D

imo regional travel has its own drawbacks (high ping anyone?) and would likely result in mostly social stuff. but honestly if they kept dc travel the way it is right now, with one designated dc people can go to if they have to, it would be just fine with me.
and probably the best way to actually make people play on dynamis like they seem to want

quick edit to add on: this does have potential to just.. become aether 2, but its clearly been shown people would rather stay on their home worlds right now. sure dynamis is popping more than it ever has, but all of the other dcs arent dead or flooded with garbage party finders either

I would personally still like DC travel so I can play with friends on other DCs. This also includes DC travel between regions. However I do agree that it is destroying the pf scene in the "non-raiding" DCs. Thankfully Yoshida did say that they are working on cross-DC pf but that it will still take at least 2 years. I think a possible temporary solution could be to lock pf for travelers. You could start small and only allow travelers to join pfs but not create any. If that doesn't help, then also block them from joining pfs. This would still allow people to play together even if they are on different DCs (because the friend who has their character on that other DC can still make a pf with you already in it) but it would force people to primarily play on their own DC.

That's understandable, but if the options are "level an alt" or "destroy every DC that isn't Aether," I think the choice is obvious.

It will get even worse when 50% of the Western playerbase will travel to JP data centers because this game is full of weebs.

No.. I miss my friends. I'm already tired of being locked to Aether; and we all know the real reason they did this is to try and force people to go to Dynamis which has been a failed experiment for the last year+.

There are aspects I'm not looking forward to probably resuming when they bring DC travel back, but there are reasons I want it to return, too.

We know nothing of the sort. It's been a good compromise for being able to meet up with friends during expansion release without totally tipping the queues. They needed to make more room--I certainly find it preferable to suddenly separating an existing data center.
