Upcoming 7.05 Viper changes

As many are aware, a new thread was released talking about upcoming job changes, and I am very unsure if I enjoy the suggested changes to Viper.

The job is perfectly fine when it comes to directional requirements in my own opinion. The only difficulty within them is being able to tell Swiftskin's / Hunter's Coil apart, however that can be fixed with just muscle memory, and you only ever have to worry about which one you start with early on in a fight.

As for busyness of the job, I also disagree with it being very busy. It does have a lot of off global buttons to use, but there are definite areas where you slow down and have a bit of a break, namely when you have no Dreadwinder or Rattling Coil stacks. The only area I could even suggest a change would be again on Swiftskin's / Hunter's Coil, removing one oGCD in-between as requiring consistent facing of the target while executing both of those can be a little complex. However I do not personally believe this is enough to warrant a change to the job.

The only problem I currently have with Viper is simply that I do not personally feel it does quite enough damage to warrant the lack of both party damage buffs and personal mitigations. However this is still early within the patch cycle and I obviously do not know enough to cement this because of that. However I do believe that I would enjoy seeing the class have a personal mitigation, such as the one that currently exists in PvP.

TL: DR - I really hope we don't get any changes to Viper's kit in either oGCD or positional requirements. I very much enjoy the job as is and would be happy to help those who may struggle learn how to do this themselves.

I agree with pretty much all of this. Making the job less "busy" or reducing positionals will just make it less fun to play.
And if they're going to change anything, it should be that there's no defensive skill, no support buff, and no DPS gap to justify the absence of either.

Pretty much, the main thing I like about the job is how busy it is. I would not like to see it streamlined to be made less busy or to have less positionals and as you said, there are times where it is less busy.

Hear me out... doing a double weave plus positionals is... fun... and skill-based... and something you can improve at over time while taking this job into hundreds of trails, raids, and dungeons...

Most of us picked this job because it was going to be fast pace with an engaging filler and the positional requirements. It's fun, it's proof SE can still make an awesome class after RPR and SMN.

True Ive been playing viper since it came out lvl 100 full gear 700/710 and it’s really fun to play , my only complaint would be the (damage) it’s not enough to compete with some Classes.

Looking forward to the new changes and hope they continue to make them more accessible.

People need to specify that they, themselves, would find the job less fun. Removal or easing of stuff doesn’t make the job less fun for everyone. For some it’s going to make it more fun.

For you… you’d find it less fun. That doesn’t mean it will or won’t be with the possible changes. Fun is subjective.

The job is already accessible by virtue of providing visual cues to tell you which combo routes to follow to maintain buffs while maximizing damage.

Its current incarnation is still less heavy on positionals/OGCDs then several pre-rework jobs like MNK/NIN and it should stay that way. Not all jobs need to be for everyone.

To be honest I main dark but decided to try viper after I finished MSQ and got my gear as far as I wanted on my main. It took awhile to get used to the fairly unusual combo system but once it clicks it clicks. Viper as a class is actually VERY button light, you just have to get a rhythm for how the combo's work, what to do after you get your combos, and how to mix in your charge attacks. It really is a lot less demanding than many other melee classes in the game, you just have to get your head around those combos and two whole positionals lol
