looking forward to seeing Gekko's progress doing all dawntrail content without healer

For those new to his channel, gekkosquirrel (currently "HesGekkin") is doing video'd runs of dawntrail content blind, at-level, and without healers, with a strong success so far.

I'm looking forward to seeing how well it goes, since it seems an interesting challenge of teamwork and such despite how starkly it showcases the lack of healer design space afforded by the team.

Thankfully it's not as if the healer would have much to do aside from glare/dosis anyway, so really it's a mercy sparing someone that boredom.

For anyone to be able to click on the tank and spam Cure.

To be honest though, I think the dungeons this time are actually a step in the right direction as far as difficulty goes, which means healers have a little more to do than just spam Glare/Broil/Malefic/Dosis. I just wish they'd give them more DPS buttons.

I expect the MSQ to be fun at all levels because I have to play all of it in roulettes and it's the core content of the game. It doesn't have to be harder to become less boring. It just needs to be less boring.

Is this a challenge run for him? Or just trying to jump on the healer strike bandwagon to get some viewers?

Yes, and even the easy content is fun when you do it while playing a fun job. Other roles are designed to be inherently fun, healers are not. That's what people are missing when they say "do ultimates then" or "dungeons are supposed to be easy". Doing different content does not solve a problem that stems from job design.

That's why I try to focus on wanting healers to be more fun in all content as my main complaint. So anything that might contribute to healer changes is something I'm down for. I hope their run goes well, I love challenge runs.

I mean... how hard can it be to give healer DPS tools? They can use them, they can spam one button, at this point it'll be players choice but at least those who want to be healer and have fun when content is too easy - they can. Give 3 spell rotation building up damage witch each spell that follows, give them 2 bigger spells to do more damage when certain -not related to healing- requirements are met. Perhaps a party buff for a good measure. It feels like SE makes a rocket science out of it or is worries too much about Ultimate content, honestly first take care of the core gameplay, then worry about 1% as much as Ultimates are fun. I am usually playing healer during roulettes when I want to go braindead mode - and this on itself is a comment enough to the state of healers in FF.

You can play SCH blindfolded in ARR by just turning Eos on. Every time I start a new character I just run WAR SCH SMN because it's all so so so easy it's silly.
