Please give it back to us as it was! Seems like such a waste of resources. I get it, its part of story, but allow us to select a memory of how it looked or some McGuffin please!

I'm actually kind of curious if they'll add a later MSQ quest or even a side quest (tribal?) that livens the place up again.
Im torn.
I love the way it looked, I would like to put it back
At the same time, letting go is the whole point. I think it was very much intentional to make us like it and then take it away.
If you activate NG+(any), it returns the zone back to the way it was. You can then deactivate it whenever to return it back to normal
My friend theorizes it could be used as a restoration project, since the fountain didn't turn off when everything did. I don't think it will though (cosmic exploration) but it would be really cool.
Came here just to look for a thread like this. Last zone was excellent, first time we've had a zone at all similar to them - especially the canal zone. So pretty.
Was planning on doing alot here with friends but...
Then they took it away. I had alot of fun and happiness exploring this map with my friends and now I'm just depressed going to it.
I get the point of drawing us in and taking it away for story affect, but what they've done is permanent and needn't be. I'm not 6. Ive learnt the lessons they're trying to teach me.
It's such an amazing and massive asset to lose so quickly and easily just for sake of story. The amount of dev hours that went into cradting such a big great area just to drop it so casually.
I hope it comes back and we can use it.
We get enough disappointment irl, we don't simulate it in our games.
Now its just grey.
NG+ is a thing, but we don't get that until 7.1 or 7.2. I REALLY wish SE would bother to add NG+ functionality, because I'd actually do NG+ so I can see the zone again. There are some really cool areas, but I agree that it's a massive waste of budget to take it away like that. Sure, they want us to let it go and let the memory be fleeting, but it wouldn't have killed them to have the area's look remain while we erased memories of people. Heck, the ambience you have right now is nice, but the lack of color makes the place dull. We didn't want another Ultima Thule.
A lot of the endless do mention that the area used to be open to living beings (presumably before the barrier around Alexandria went up) I can see them maybe resorting the actual zone and repurposing it for living beings as with the key out of the picture the gate is just a stable portal into living memory (or alternatively they may manage to open the portal on the top floor of the everkeep again and return it to Alexandria)
The problem was never the maintenance of the zone it was the fact that the endless required living human aether, living memory could 100% be used for something for living people
But if not I’ll just turn on NG+ whenever I enter that zone, I already have a ShB NG+ saved for kholusia everlasting light as kholusia looks ugly under normal light
Yeah while I get what they were going for from a plot perspective, the game presently suffers from the open world being really devoid of activities beyond FATEs, DOH, and beast tribes. To have an entire map basically get tossed for the sake of a (lackluster) story feels like a poor use of resources ngl.
The colorful floor tiles were low res, I won't miss them.
Would have been a great place for gposing, but alas
I felt bad about losing it and never being able to view everything from above, but... that's what I love about it. It's about letting go and I'll cherish the short time I got to spend in those worlds and the ability to look back at those gray buildings and remember the endless left behind.
Story wise? Yeah, I get that. Though the quality of game or removal of it should not be be justified purely because of an in-game lesson of the story. If it was because of game or server limitations, absolutely fine. Though creating something amazing, and taking it away, for - what I consider - shallow reasons feels like a waste. Waste is the only reason why I bring it up.
For what it's worth for the others, you can visit it via new game+ right now. Not a problem.
My main problem with that zone was there was too much yellow. The yellow tint really got grating after a while, and it was a relief when it reverted to regular weather at the end. If there were some sort of restoration, I would want it to keep the normal weather and not turn yellow again.
Just quoting it for visibility. Don't know if people just overlooked the post. This is a very easy way to turn it back to its original state. Some people discussed that the NG+ of Dawntrail isn't out yet, but it doesn't have to be Dawntrail NG+, just activating any old NG+ state returns the map to its original state. Only thing is you can't activate NG+ while on the map, cause its so heavily affected by quest state. So head to a starting town -> activate any NG+ -> go back. And the map is its initial state.
Edit: Oddly enough, you can turn off NG+ while on the map and it instantly converts from original to current state. Wonder why activating NG+ on the map isn't possible then.
Last zone is what Meteion would've seen on her journey through the cosmos, eventually struck with grief and despair and allowed her song to kill whatever's alive and remaining somewhere. Sphene's obsession to keep her people alive in one way or another is no different from Meteion. There's a reason the last zone is called "living memory" because it's just that, a memory, people living as their best memories in their lifetime. Sphene couldn't let it go, and we went there to turn off the lights out to allow these people to rest in aetherial sea.
It felt rough for me when you got the notice of "make sure you've fully explored and taken in the zone before proceeding" but you couldn't fly around the zone to get a good look at things till after you've turned all the zones off.
Since the whole place was virtual, there should have been nothing left after the servers shut down. No structures, just a blank void.
Who said the place was virtual? It's an existing place built from electrope in a ruined reflection. Only the outer layer was an illusion generated by electrope to make it look the way it did. Though there are some questionable things - like the people made from memory having any physicality at all (I kinda thought we'd see machine bodies as base of the memory-people like with the queen previously, but they just fully dissolve) and the food being physically edible at all for living people (though with no taste). Not quite sure how that works out, unless it's aether-manifestations similar to the scion's 'spirit bodies' in the first.
I really liked what they did to the last zone.
My guess for future MSQ story is that we go back there and start to rebuild/ repopulate the shard of alexandria.
Because, the sky is blue and plants are still alive, so it is not a "dead" void like on the first or the 13th shard.
Honestly the "Acceptance is also a lesson." reply is also just kind of arrogant and short sighted to me, if not belittling of other's feedback. This could be the response to every post on this forum and SE would never get any feedback. Blind "Acceptance" is not a good lesson - undermines the Scions and the store of FF, and reeks of settling with no motivation to enact change for the better.
Just take the feedback that we liked the area and don't wanna see it die for story reasons. xD
