Game Keeps Crashing nvgpucomp64.dll

Game worked fine in Endwalker and yes have a Nvidia 4090

Not matter how I change the settings the game client just keeps crashing over and over. It is totally unplayable. Any suggestions please

Same thing is happening to me. I have a 4090, 32 GB RAM, i9 Processor. I have checked all my drivers and uninstalled and reinstalled the game. But I am getting the same error and the game just closes. No lagging, hitching, or skips the game just closes and gives the nvgpucomp64.dll+E10FF4 error

Yep 100% the same, looks the same issue.... I wasnt sure how to embed my error message in this, it is quite irritating.

I am having the same issue, and from what I heard its FF14 itself. That this patch messed up a lot of people. I have an RTX 3080, and I had no issues with EW.

I am having the same problem as well. Running a 13900k with a 4080. Crashing during many cutscenes and only a few times in the overworld. Tried with max settings with DLSS on and tried without. Had no problems until Dawntrail. Hopefully a fix will come out soon because it is definitely demotivating trying to do MSQ knowing at any point it could crash and would have to start the quest cutscenes over again. The only things I have done so far is updated GPU drivers and verified my FFXIV files. I have heard many things about our specific intel CPUs doing wacky things with voltages and overclocking and that changing your settings in BIOS or using an intel utility to change clock speeds could fix it but I have not gone that far into doing those things since I have only had these problems since DT release and have come to the conclusion that the game itself is the culprit.

The only thing I managed to do was as soon as the errors pop up, move it off screen. I have dual monitors so I put the errors on the bottom of my other monitor. Be warned if you exit the game normally, it BSOD'd me, so its best to just open one of the errors and hit Ok. I seen people saying they had 5 errors and played an entire day. I played from noon to 5pm with 2 errors. We aren't the only ones with issues, there are others out there. On top of seeing dx11 crashes and ff14 error crashes. I am hoping when they open up on the 2nd that they patch and hopes it fixes.

Same issues, 4090, everything is up to date. I've also found if I click back into the game and leave the error alone I can continue playing. However after a couple of those it can throw a DirectX version of the error and that kills the game. No issues before DT.

May have fixed it. So I was streaming lastnight and Cutscenes in DT were crashing me or I was getting 4-5 windows that all said nvgpucomp.dll crash, I had to restart FF14 like 4 times due to it just crashing. Researched today and found someone had said its NOT THE GPU but instead its your CPU's voltage and a problem with Intel i9 13th and 14th gen. That its pushing more than the limits of the cpu...

essentially I went in to my BIOS and I turned (for me) Asus MultiCore Enhancement to Disabled - Enforce All Limits, and I disabled Intel Adaptive Boost Technology. I got on my Alt character which is DT ready and I managed to get through all cutscenes, and I have yet to have an nvgpu popup. I'll keep you posted.

Edit 1: So far I got 1 pop-up. So I guess it didn't work... but this might help others.

I have paid for Pre-release for DT and still unable to play, the support seems to be clueless to fix anything related to this error, same way tried the video from above and attempted the reddit's suggestion, still no luck.

Same here, though at this point it is just random, the error does happen sometimes only after like 10 hours, then sometimes after 5 minutes, in all different areas, dungeons, cities etc.
It also evolved from the nvgpucomp64.dll error, to sometimes its the DX11 error, sometimes its some random other error and sometimes there is no error at all, and it just crashes.

Possible fix:
"A reportedly successful workaround for many people is to use Intel XTU and lower the Performance Core multiplier from x55 to x54 or x53. Apparently, affected titles may then crash one more time during load immediately after, but will work afterwards (we have not been able to confirm this ourselves). Using XTU is likely the quickest and easiest way to go and doesn't even require rebooting to try different settings, but you might need to reapply it after every start if you don't save the profile. (Alternatively, set the P-core multiplier in the BIOS instead.)"

And hope, that your CPU is not already degraded.

Its getting worse and worse, Im crashing every 10 minutes, my pc getting blue screen too, its getting to the point I cant even play properly, this expansion so far hasnt been enjoyable due to this issue because before DT I hadnt crash once

I just tried that yesterday and while I didnt change my multiplier, I did lower the turbo boost power amounts (the short was set at four thousand something under the Auto settings, not sure that was good, but seems way to high) and the IccMax setting down to the numbers in the 13th/14th gen intel datasheet from Intel's site

it so far has not crashed, I even ran Thelia this morning, since before, I was getting 2-3 nvgpucomp64.dll based error windows per boss in there before and it ran fine. I swapped chars without closing the game, just using logoff, teleporting around to new zones and old.

So it seems to be working (though I thought the same with DISM.exe when it worked for 6 hours to only then have a bunch of crashes again with a BSOD for a kicker)

but its still concerning that a system that ran 6.55 fine since I first booted it at the start May, does this with no other game, is having this issue with 7.0

Im getting the exact same problems as you, and have done all of the attempts you have done to try and fix it except lowering the performance core multiplier, The annoying thing is how unpredictable the crashes are, i could crash fishing in the middle of nowhere in a DT zone with no one around me, then go do the EX2 for 3 hours with no crashes, just to crash twice in Lapis (that happened just now), please could you update us if this ends up working for you, or if it ends up just being a temporary fix

Please try the following:
- Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card and sound drivers (if applicable). It appears that your GPU [NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090] was last updated on [6/25/2024]. At this time, there should be a newer version available.
- Please try adjusting/lowering the resolution.
- Please try running the game as an administrator.
- Perform a clean boot by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything.
- Please be sure that Final Fantasy XIV is installed to the C: Drive. (If Steam version, make sure both the game and Steam are installed on same drive)
- Please be sure to disable or remove any overlays (Discord, Steam, NVIDIA etc.) as they may interfere with startup. Please try closing these programs before trying again to see if it may help with the issue.
- Make sure that the Windows OS is fully updated.

There seems to be a problem with Intel 13th and 14th CPUs.

In particular, there have been reports of crashes from around the world with models that can be overclocked, except for FF14.

It seems that excessive voltage will cause it to crash.

As a temporary fix, you can change the BIOS settings to prevent the voltage from rising.

I've never even had a freeze with a 4th Gen CPU, but
it suddenly crashed with the 13th. Then I got a blue screen.

I searched and fixed the BIOS settings, and although it stabilized for a while,
it started to crash again, and now sometimes the launcher won't even start.

Temporary fixes are only temporary fixes, and once errors start
the symptoms only get worse.

And what System do you have? Please open a seperate Thread with System Information. Do you use Corsair iCUE? Its known as a issue with FFXIV since DT release.
You may have another problem, but the Intel 13/14k are broken anyways, because of too much default voltage in the last years due do intel fail, they are degrading like 10 years already.

nvgpucomp64.dll crash

Also for me happening since DT release. SOmetimes I can play for hours with no issue and sometimes i cant even play an hour without getting at least 4 of those messages. You can ignore them and stack them even up to 4 times. I once even got windows blue screen from it...I tried many fix tips but nothing worked out so far. I reinstalled game, reinstzalled Nvidia update.

i couldnt change the named x54 settings in my bios tho so didnt try that

I do not know which motheboard you have. But install the newest BIOS for it. BIOS versions with the microcode 0x129 contain some fixes for the instability problematic. And yes, it can happen, that those BIOS versions are still beta. But you should still install them.

Yeah I have an Asus mother board and 14th gen I9 and have updated to a beta bios with the new micro code and early tests are hopefully more promising in terms that the game doesn't crash so frequently. The error messages have vanished as a pop up dialogue box and when it has crashed the game client exits straight away.

All i can suggest as Larirawiel has stated is get a new bios based on your motherboard as the microcode may help resolve your issues.
